Mr. and Mrs. Dupont find Rigadin a bit too old for their daughter Mauricette and want her to marry Arsène Loupart. But Mauricette has her mind set on Rigadin and trusts him to get rid of his rival. Rigadin’s idea is to start a fight between the painter Toledo and Arsène. So Mauricette, walking by him with Arsène, makes a degrading remark about his painting and Toledo turns to Arsène for a duel. Rigadin offers to be his first witness but when Arsène looses the first fight, he has to step up and looses too. Mauricette eventually leaves with Toledo. |
