Powerful movie. The cast & performances are quite amazing. I wouldn’t recommend this for everyone though because of the emotional content & themes that might be triggering for some. It’s also a slow burn of a film that focuses on character development, so no action.
I loved Andrew Scott in the older series ‘Fleabag’ where he played the priest & love interest of the main character. Here he easily pulls off the lead w/great emotional depth & sensitivity. I am quite impressed w/his performance since he is in most of the film. In the hands of a lesser actor & director it might not have worked so well. But Andrew Haigh allows the cast to emote & is not afraid to show it onscreen. Be prepared though, this movie brought a few tears to my eyes, but it was well worth the journey to see this excellent piece of cinema.
