“Countdown” begins the predictable journey of most higher-end (budget/editing wise) jump-scare “horror” films. The jump scares are hollow, contrived and obnoxious, with 100% jump ratio over a not a scare to be had. This film has adequate acting, but for the main course, there is nothing outstanding, noteworthy or engaging. If you are looking for a formulaic “thriller/horror” this one will fit that niche, provided you are not viewing it for anything original or remotely scary. The reliance on jump scares winds the viewer up with tension and very little else.
