Ghost Adventures (2008)

They began their adventures as an amateur crew. I do believe their original intentions were to do real investigations, but when the Travel Channel weren’t pleased with the lack of intense, dramatic results, they gave them the option to doctor their findings or be canceled. They, obviously not wanting to be canceled, decided it would be best to ‘see things’ that conveniently aren’t typically captured on film.

You can browse through their episodes and see how many time, especially with Aaron Goodwin, THEY see something, but it’s not captured on film. You’ll notice when they’re walking around alone, they like to keep the camera pointing at themselves, instead of the area around them. Aaron is the greatest at overreacting. The slightest noise or whatever and he’s screaming like a banshee. “Guys, come here now!” “OMG, did you see/hear that?” Of course the viewers only get an edited version with a mixture of Aaron’s screaming.

As for their EVP’s, I’m not sure how genuine they are. They could easily put in an edited tape into the tape recorder and play it back, making it sound like someone around them said something. One episode, they introduced some abomination that Aaron and Nick made and used it to prove ghosts were around, as if anything created by the investigators themselves is reputable.

For some reason, Zak likes to where a respirator inside a museum and places he doesn’t really need to. Then in places with lead paint or particles in the air, his crew and sometimes he himself, don’t wear a respirator.

The cutscenes with a person spinning around or trying to act creepy is just a time waster. They know they can’t document a lot of evidence for their show in just one night, so they use these cutscenes as filler. They should really consider doing a week lock down, instead of a day. But then fans could identify them around the area they’re in and try to play act as a ghost, ruining their lock down.

As for their ‘possessions’, I don’t think anyone actually believes that nonsense.

Overall, it started out with good intentions but got bogged down by sensationalism and drama. To me, this show gets a 3/10. Mainly for their effort.
