Kevin Bacon was absolutely underused in this version/adaptation. Good lord, I’m sick of Amanda Seyfried. Espeically as a mum/sexy actresss she’s frigging overused to the point of exhaustion on the behalf of ANY viewer. She cannot act her way through a older man/younger woman scenario…. why even cast her, except for HOT points … the little girl… Avery Tiiu Essex (as the daughter Ella) has the same facial points Amanda does… why make this feature the “new white female” sex extreme… especially in a child! Hollywood is ruining careers now. Boring and predictable to the extreme, do your laundry whilst you watch this wanna be adaptation of the novel by the same name (“You Should Have Left: A Novel” by Daniel Kehlmann and Ross Benjamin) was so much more superior I’m shocked that this made Mr. Bacon (a very accomplished actor) take the role. It literally sucked. Sorry. I gave a 3/5, but a 1 will do as well. Choose your chores wisely; don’t devote full attention to this one or you’ll regret it. Not scary, not original, not even relatable in any sense.
