DC's Stargirl (2020)

Just finished season 2. It was a lot darker and had a bigger scope than the first season. I enjoyed how it felt more grown-up and had characters confront their issues/flaws, along with the fallout from what happens in Season 1. That said, I much prefer the tone of the first season, which was more about being a teen Superhero dealing with High School with lots of DC nods and references. S1 plot focuses more on things that mainly affect the town. In Season 2, the stakes are much higher with a big bad evil moon-genie that schemes to destroy the world. I liked this 2nd season overall and think the show does a great job of exploring the characters, but got less of the things I personally enjoy the most from the show. I do LOVE this show, but no surprise because I’m a sucker for well-written family dramas with a cool twist/hook (that usually get cancelled after 1 or 2 seasons, lol)

The setup for season 3 leaves me excited for a return to that original tone I mentioned, but with the script being flipped for a lot of the characters who have each gone through their own growth arc. I think this is a good quality show that stays faithful to the material while also doing it’s own thing to stand out from other superhero shows. It reminds me a lot of the early seasons of The Flash (before that show went downhill, lol), so I hope this one can keep up the momentum and come back soon with Season 3.
