If you don’t get titillated by the horror of consensual reality unraveling in style (not top 40’s style), this heady chunk of fiction will fall flat and appear to appeal to noir comic book cliches. Being more art than film, it will always fall short of mainstream success, which is why it is so good. No pandering to the preppy majority.
