When is this back? I have loved it. The adaptation has kept so faithful, authentic and unspoiled. The books the show is based on are revered by many and so popular. To take liberties with the books narrative would be a crime! This adaptation so far has religiously stuck to the authors words/artful expression.
I do not normally watch TV but this was wonderful (the books are amazing)
Many adaptations or retellings are so messed about with for diversity sakes or woke policies. Changing gender, race , language or complete reworking altogether and changing the narrative. It never works.
Literature or art that is loved and considered great are revered because of how the original artist constructed their opus. rewriting/changing is insulting and I see it more and more. This however is as respectful and as close as possible to the books. Maybe because its Italian? If it was USA or UK it would have altered the narrative, changed the gender of characters, added different races, even though set at a time when places were more homogenous. There would be some way that they could slip in some sort of political propaganda or societal message under the guise of something more prosaic. However, its incontrovertibly tedious and quotidian now within the media realm that its ruined TV for me. This was a breath of fresh air. Worth a watch if you want authentic, unadulterated viewing from a much adored book series and celebrated author. More Please!!
February 28th in America but it’s airing in Italy now though you may have to watch it in Italian without subtitles for now
