Jedi-Knight_45 1 points 2 years ago*.

yes, that’s what I meant. lol. Semantics …. lol

Euringer 3 points 2 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

Sorry, wasn’t trying to make a semantic point or be rude, feel free to ignore my explanation but: The Romulan treaty is presumably null at this point because of the “unification” in the 3,000’s. I think it may have already been kind of a suggestion by the time of Picard though because in Deep Space 9 the Romulans loan the Defiance a cloaking device under the agreement that they won’t use it in the Alpha Quadrant, but the Federation not only uses it they clone it for the minefield during the Dominion War.

Star Trek: Discovery (2017) S4 E10
Jedi-Knight_45 2 points 2 years ago*.

Remember when cloaking Federation ships was illegal? …. and now we Discover …. it isn’t all of a sudden. This series is a melting pot of bad jokes and puns just waiting in the wings.

Destroy the franchise til it’s no longer what it was …. check.

Euringer 7 points 2 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

Cloaking was never illegal in the Federation, they didn’t use them because of a treaty with Romulus. The treaty was already violated and seemingly abandoned by DS9 in the wake of the Dominion War.

Army of the Dead (2021)

Genetically engineered smart zombies would probably have the instinct to try and reproduce. It was a special zombie created by science that started it all if you followed the plot. If its smart enough to wear a helmet its smart enough to want to bang. Makes sense to me

Euringer 0 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

imo zombie babies would make sense in a movie or tv show with a narrative built around zombies being people too, like iZombie or Warm Bodies. It doesn’t even have to be a romantic plot, just a universe where lots of development has been put in to show the viewer who they are, what they want, and make us sympathize with their parenthood when they do succeed in reproducing. It doesn’t make sense in this context because it seemed to be a parallel to the human father-daughter and mother-daughter relationships without enough world building to justify the fetus reveal. Considering the movie is a sequel to a pretty well established zombie universe it’s kinda jarring and not worth it, but just in my opinion. Not like it’s a crime against filmmaking or the worst thing ever though.

It seems like this series may be retconning Spider-Man Far From Home which established “Bucky Barnes” (not the Winter Soldier) as a world-renowned hero mentioned alongside Captain America.

American Gods (2017)
ezl88 5 points 3 years ago.

Did this show get a new showrunner after season 1/season 2? Season 3 feels so out of place and the show as a whole is pretty far off-base from the book at this point. Still entertaining, but there is quite a bit of filler that doesn’t work with the overarching plot. Loved the book and the show is still entertaining enough to keep watching, but it’s disappointing.

Euringer 4 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

New show runner, yes. They also fired Orlando Jones, so they had to frame those cool stories/flashbacks in a different way.

American Gods (2017) S3 E4
dinklefaust 2 points 3 years ago.

Stargirl doesn’t suck, and the flash has good episodes and season 6 didn’t have a proper ending. Superman & Lois will be amazing. Smallville is a CW show and it is such an amazing show.

Euringer 2 points 3 years ago.

Stargirl premiered on DC Universe and Smallville on WB, though Stargirl will be airing exclusively on CW now that DC Universe is gone.

If WW 1984 comes out at the movies and on Hbo MAx is it eligible for an Emmy and an Oscar.

Euringer 2 points 3 years ago.

Not currently I think. There have been Oscar winning documentaries that then won Emmy awards after being broadcast, but you can’t be nominated for an Emmy after being nominated for an Oscar anymore.

The Sopranos (1999) S6 E21
Moonbunny 0 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

well thats just not true. Even D Chase said it was up to the imagination. So no. Just No. Worst Ending Ever.

Euringer 0 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I really like shows that deal in moral ambiguity having ambiguous endings tbh. The other big shows that The Sopranos gets compared to (I won’t name them for unnecessary spoilers) often had antihero characters either die in glory how they wanted to or as is implied here die a fairly meaningless death earned through their own immorality. There’s something kinda neat I think about telling a good story about brutal violence until the story is over, rather than until everyone is dead, even if the next logical step might be the main character’s off screen end.

Resident Evil (2002)
PonderThis 1 points 3 years ago.

I’ve watched all of the Resident Evil movies and for the life of me, I don’t know why the director always has Alice and other females in skimpy dresses! Seriously? The story line always has her fighting etc so why not put her in something more feasible or suitable for those fight scenes! She’s not going to a club or the opera for goodness sake!

Euringer 1 points 3 years ago.

Paul WS Anderson and Milla Jovovich have been married for a few decades I think. I honestly believe (besides just he likes sexy ladies in tight leather and skirts) there’s a bit of an exhibition aspect where he appreciates the opportunity to have $50,000 wardrobes of sexy clothes tailored for his wife.

false. most murders are committed by black people. this isnt racist this is a undeniable fact in the US. and guess who are most killed by blacks? answer other black people. do you know the biggest factor that can be accurately deduced that impact you social economic and familial standing in society. answer having a mother and father in the home. facts dont care about your feelings. as much as i wish that the data was wrong until you fix the family unit then you cant fix society

Euringer 4 points 3 years ago.

According to the FBI white people commit the most murders. Where are you getting your numbers please?

Stay Woke: The Black Lives Matter Movement (2016)
doctor who 6 points 3 years ago.

f you say that something is a textbook case or example, you are emphasizing that it provides a clear example of a type of situation or event. illegally blocking traffic to intimidate people in order to achieve political gain is a clear textbook example of terrorism. but you KNOW that and are just trying to set up a straw man. Ergo if you can only attack the messenger or the verbiage then you have no true rebuttal to the argument. Basically you have just admitted my statement was in fact valid and are saying you no longer have any useful input. goodbye and have a nice day.

Euringer 4 points 3 years ago*.

I completely understand what a textbook example is. Which is why I was wondering if you were using the term literally, because it doesn’t apply figuratively, in my opinion. I’m kinda confused why you’d get so upset at me discussing semantics with you after you already devolved this conversation by trying to explain away the hundreds of white nationalist terrorism murders as “mass murder”. Do you not enjoy discussion? In fact based on your logic you’ve admitted that BLM is correct to call out the racist murders by their fellow citizens, and you’re just attacking the messenger because you have no rebuttal to their points on race inequality.

Stay Woke: The Black Lives Matter Movement (2016)
doctor who 1 points 3 years ago.

Actually burning down some innocent persons house or company, or blocking legal traffic, or any of the other things BLM does to get people to put pressure on the government is what is textbook terrorism.

Euringer 3 points 3 years ago.

Would you mind sharing which scholars on terrorism and/or English cite “blocking traffic” as a form of textbook terrorism?

Stay Woke: The Black Lives Matter Movement (2016)
Skyehawk -1 points 3 years ago.

The Red Menace?? That’s the best you can do?? You need to get in touch with reality in a big way. The 3 leaders of BLM are avowed communists and admit it whole heartedly. A spade is a spade no matter what it’s called. What I said is the truth.

Euringer 6 points 3 years ago.

Patrisse Cullors said she and another of the leaders are “trained Marxists” not specifically Communists, and only one has said that from what I know. Mind giving quotes from them whole heartedly admitting they’re Communists?

Stay Woke: The Black Lives Matter Movement (2016)
AnyCheekiBreeki 6 points 3 years ago.

There is one already, BLM calls it racist because they themselves are racists. BLM is not about what they present themselves as, they’re a covert communist organisation that disguises itself as an anti-racist organisation that cares about black people, when in reality they are the exact opposite. everything they did up ‘till now was either racist and/or endangering the lives of black people and even causing their deaths indirectly and in some cases even directly.
They also don’t represent the black majority’s wishes. recent polls have shown that more than 80% of black people wants the same level of policing or higher, definitely not lower which is what BLM is aiming for by demanding the defunding of the police.

Euringer 8 points 3 years ago.

Mind sharing the polls that give that 80% number?

My Truth: The Rape of Two Coreys (2020)
cloroxbleach 1 points 3 years ago.

Only one minor leader in Scotland has been prosecuted. My best friend was born and raised in The Family International (Children of God), so we both follow it in the news even now. The Phoenixes and McGowans are lucky they got out when they did. The upper leadership, including the actual leaders and their subordinates, have never been prosecuted. It’s likely that “Mama Maria” (Karen Zerby) is dead and that “King Peter” is still around. Overall the communes and hardcore members/true believers are laying low, and TFI presents itself as a loose federation of international missionaries. TFI is mostly active in front organizations, fake charities and the like.

Euringer 2 points 3 years ago.

Hey thanks for the info, I kinda suspected but it’s still sad to hear. imo (sorry if this is political) but if we care about child abuse this is the sort of stuff we have to start with, ‘cause so many of us can see exactly what’s happening. We don’t have to dig deeper for secret meanings or anything, there are dozens of child-abusing cults masquerading as sex-positive. Let’s crack down and prosecute these hundreds of sick, sick wackos then move on to more nebulous areas.

The Ramen Girl (2008)
irishbrit47 1 points 3 years ago.

what it has to do with the movie is, she plays Ramen Girl - She died of pneumonia, not so weird

Euringer 1 points 3 years ago*.

The weird part is they both had about the same mix of drugs in their system when they died of anemic pneumonia, which could normally suggest IV heroin use but there’s no evidence of heroin or any other illicit drug requiring this. They were both taking large amounts of oxy and hydrocodone, etc, so it’s possible they were actually making themselves anemic with fluid overdose. It’s an interesting quirk of celebrity drug use like Prince’s death, not a conspiracy.

Project Power (2020)
doctor who 1 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

acting was good.
sfx were good.
story was pure shyte.

The most important thing in a scifi movie is that the “sci” must be believable. human torch? There must be fuel. Amazing giant growing guy? Increase volume 1000 percent and your mass density becomes one tenth the original. Now you have the amazing giant marshmallow. Pills that use animal DNA to give powers? You could not possible rewrite DNA that quick. And not knowing which DNA will stick? You managed to jam all those different sets of DNA into every pill… why not make each pill one set of DNA and let the user choose? And how about being unable to do one set of DNA per pill but your science is so exact you can limit the powers to 5 minutes? To bad no one gave the writers a pill for 5 minutes of good writing!

Euringer 1 points 3 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

TBH I thought the movie was pretty bad but a lot of your pill questions were definitively answered. The original pills unlocked latent animal DNA in users, lucky ones got pistol shrimp unlucky ones like the dealer blowfish. Regardless of the animal in question the original pills were unstable, so some would die instantly or overheat or whatever regardless. Jamie Foxx takes this pill, unlocks the pistol shrimp, passes that down to his daughter because the pill unlocked the latent animal DNA (this is all super dumb don’t get me wrong, but it has internal logic) now they’ve apparently used the daughter to produce stable pills they’re going to weaponize following the test they’ve been running throughout the movie on various population centers like New Orleans.

TBH I didn’t think about Cerebro when I saw him/the chamber, didn’t consider the similarities until I saw people calling it a ripoff. Found this to be a genuinely surprising thriller at times, which if that’s your only prerequisite for the genre makes this a 10/10. Besides the surprises though the characters were intensely unlikable in a distinctly unintentional way. Characters seem designed to illicit certain ages old horror responses, like “Watch this entitled guy and over-the-top liberal get their due” but in my experience it was too obvious and surface level to actually dull the edges on the brutal consequences of their behavior. Overall not a bad film at all considering it’s a directorial debut, maybe a 6/10

Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Kyemin -1 points 3 years ago*.

And some people are mediocre that any piece of crap seems enjoyable in their eyes. Episode VII wasnt perfect but good enough to startup a new generation into the Star Wars Universe. Unfortunatly Episode VIII was a writters pride rubbish and Episode IX was a failled redemption attempt that only confirmed what Episode VIII attempted. Star Wars as is, is dead. Now theres only room for side stories and this trilogy was an insult, a shame and a pitfull end of the greatest saga of all-time. Wish these movies were never made so other more competent and knowledgeable writters could fill our imagination as they did with the expanded universe in a time when only true fans cared about Star Wars instead of these FX sheeps that claim to understand Star Wars today. We live in a time where merit is replaceable by mediocracy.

Euringer 0 points 3 years ago*.

I’ve watched every single Star Wars film in theaters since Episode I. This trilogy was great if you’re a fan. I prefer getting an end to the story with all the original players involved (if not to a perfectly satisfying degree and in a perfect way) than the Lucasfilm Group’s plans under Lucas to focus on vidya games and television. In retrospect if Disney never bought Star Wars we would never have gotten Carrie Fisher back in the role, and that alone makes these movies a standout experience.
