Since you’re not far enough along to understand the full implications I will give you a spoiler-free explanation: That’s not how the sire bond works. There are entire episodes dedicated to the exploration and also the fact finding missions regarding the sire bond. If you have feelings for the vampire whose blood turns you into a vampire then you will be sired to said vampire. I’ve always assumed that it goes beyond love to hatred as well (Doppelganger shenanigans)… while we’ve never seen Katherine turn off her emotions— and honestly doubt she ever has —she could very well be hate-sired to Klaus, or what makes far more sense is that the “natural” Doppelganger obsession to go after her other shadow-selves was enhanced upon transition.
As to your other point Damon is a pretty realistic person imo. Most people wouldn’t admit it, or be so carefree with it, but I have no doubt that Damon Salvatore is what anyone would be in his shoes. Imagine being one of the most powerful creatures on the planet, you’re hundreds of years old, you’ve seen it all. The world is your oyster, and these annoying humans are cattle.
It’s television. Getting into the character’s head is as important as taking the dialogue and scenes at face value.

Sorry I’m a Stefan fan if I didn’t make it obvious at least Stefan tries to be good and sorry but I don’t like Damon’s qualities in a person you may do but I don’t. Even Caroline doesn’t like him so it’s not just myself and you say its about getting into a characters head yet she feels like that and she’s part of the show lol… I have seen it many times and my opinion has not changed
