The Butterfly Effect (2004)
Birdsforme 2 points 8 months ago.

Another good Sci Fi classic. Worth a watch.

Ghost (1990)
Birdsforme 1 points 8 months ago.

This one is a classic staring Demi Moore, Patrick Swayze and Whoopi Goldberg. The soundtrack is good too. Well worth a watch for those who never saw it.

The setting for this story was what my idea of paradise would look like. Even if the story had been bad, which it was not, I would have loved to watch the background. The story was much more complex than I though it could be. Both mothers who were best friends, are beautiful in spite of the fact that they were much older than their love interests. In the beginning of the story I really had a difficult time wrapping my mind around two young guys wanting to have a relationship with these older women. That it turned into more than sex for some of them made for complications. At the point when I thought the story came to it`s logical conclusion everything changes. This is mainly because emotions and people cannot be predicted nor can what one person thinks is best be forced on others. To some extent the implications of having an affair with two people with such a big age gap is predictable that there will be problems. But even there, the story has some surprises as to what the surprises were.

Lots of excitement in this episode.

Thanks all for so many comments about this movie. They brought it to my attention. Priceless! It should be a mandatory watch for anyone thinking about adopting or buying a dog.

Cold Brook (2018)
Birdsforme 2 points 8 months ago.

I really liked this film. A Sci Fi twist with a down home feel.

Men in Kilts: A Roadtrip with Sam and Graham (2021) S2 E4

A fun conclusion to their half season. New Zealand was a great pick to travel.

The Letter Room (Short 2020) (2021)
Birdsforme 1 points 8 months ago.

30 minute short. I thought it was done well, and I liked it.

Into the Okavango (2020)
Birdsforme 3 points 8 months ago.

Beautiful, informative, heartbreaking and hopeful. I really was glad I watched.

The Wheel of Time (2021)

Great series and it`s back with season 2

Laurel Canyon (2020)

I thoroughly enjoyed this. It is an amazing look into the history of the music and the bands of the 60s. I found it incredible on how close all the bands were and how intertwined they were. I grew up as a little kid listening to my parents vinyl records of these bands and learning more of the origin of them all and how they started is just fascinating.

Birdsforme 2 points 8 months ago.

Because of your comment I will check it out. Thanks.

Dig Two Graves (2017)
Birdsforme 1 points 8 months ago.

The basic story was much better than I though it would be. It was sketchy and scattered at parts. I think if they would have had a bigger budget it would have taken care of that. A one time watch for me with three stars.

Joe Pickett (2021) S1 E10
Birdsforme 2 points 8 months ago.

I just heard of this series as the second season came out. it was nice to watch the whole first season back to back. Reminds me of old time westerns where the hero is clearly defined and wholesome. Good family show too. On to season 2.

The Last Voyage of the Demeter (2023)
dezznuttzz77879 3 points 8 months ago. (Contains Spoilers)

why didnt they just get off the damn boat in the day time if he was killing at night? duh

Birdsforme 4 points 8 months ago. (Contains Spoilers)

This was based on Bram Stokers book, so the outline was already set. Read Dimes post above. Also, did you not realize they were trying to kill it before they left the ship. They did not want it to reach land and kill others. They also were too far from land in the beginning to abandon ship. Traveling during the day would not guarantee them surviving if they could not reach land before nightfall. It had wings and could they wait till night and kill them enroute to land.

Jules (2023)
Birdsforme 4 points 8 months ago.

I found this tonight. The beginning was maddingly slow, and I would have not stuck with it if I was not a big fan of Ben Kingsley. At first I did not recognize Mr. Kingsley with the altered appearance. It stated out as a silly story, but evolved into a collection of touching moments. The ending was emotional and somewhat sad to me. I am glad I hung in there and continued to watch. Link i had was clear with decent sound.

The Fountain (2006)
Gnostic_Alchemist 4 points 8 months ago.

Great metaphysical love story

Birdsforme 4 points 8 months ago.

I saw it years ago and I agree. It was very good.

Our Loved Ones (2016)
Birdsforme 4 points 8 months ago.

This was very well done. This film was nominated for 15 awards and won 1. Without giving away the story it is about three generations of a family. The actors were believable in their characters. The story seemed a bit slow, at least by American standards but was well worth the wait to get to where it was going. If you do not mind subs (It is spoken in French) this is worth a watch.

Love Again (2023)

I just saw a commercial for this series on the beginning of the current episode of Outlander. I never heard of it, but am looking forward to binge watching season 1 and catch with season 2.

Prelude to a Kiss (1992)
Birdsforme 2 points 9 months ago.

A young Alec Baldwin and Meg Ryan team up for this cute and funny film. I liked it.

The Arbors (2021)
Birdsforme 1 points 9 months ago.

So slow. You can easily take a long nap and not miss anything. Low budget and I did not like the main character. Time I will never get back.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022) S2 E9
Birdsforme 1 points 9 months ago. (Contains Spoilers)

As much as I love music I have never been a fan of show tunes and musicals. That being said, I have a friend who`s children are so thrilled with musicals that after a show they view and like, they have to go out and buy the soundtrack which is played over and over for months. I wonder if any of these songs will make it to that level of famous. Perhaps a parody done on one of these songs in the future.
I was wondering if an unemployed Broadway writer got hired for this episode. I was also wondering if when the recurring actors went for an audition they had to sing.
Overall, I think they all did a good job, with some being excellent with their singing voice. And even thought musicals are not my thing, I did watch it till the end. For real shock value, the Klingons singing were my favorite.

Zarephath (2021)
Birdsforme 2 points 9 months ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Religious propaganda film with no real storyline. Family is hungry and thirsty. Husband goes off to get medication for no apparent reason. Well is dry. No explanation as to why they are in these conditions. No explanation as to why there is little furniture in the house. Strange guy shows up claiming he is a prophet from God and convinces woman to feed him the last of the food she had for her and her son. Food magically appears the next day in cabinets. Kid falls out of a tree he did not even climb. Then they are praying he is not dead, instead of trying to get him medical help. Casting was awful too. If people are hungry and without water, they look dehydrated and thin. These actors did not. It bothers me to no end that instead of action to help oneself, people look to religious dogma as a solution of a magic wand. Have they forgotten about all the third world people who are without well water and food. How could IMDB rate this so high?

Outlander (2014)
Birdsforme 2 points 9 months ago.

I really love this series. I think it could not be done any better. For a tv series its excellent quality. But, oh, the wait. After the next episode, (August 11) we will have to wait a year for the next 8 to finish out the season. Sometimes it is more than a year between seasons. Eight episodes done in less than 3 months; then another year to to continue the rest. Every time this comes back I question whether or not I want to get involved in watching because its so long in between. Here I am again glued to the story, not at all prepared for the long wait to come.

Outlander (2014) S7 E7

Multiple problems and cliffhangers, but the biggest one was the last moment of the episode. Excellent viewing.

Outlander (2014) S7 E6

I missed this one last week. The caring for the prisoners, the teaching of Gallic, and the talk discribing William, each scene got me choked up.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022) S2 E8
Birdsforme 2 points 9 months ago*.

Glad to see Star Trek tackling some very serious subjects. Good episode.

The Last Post (2017)
Birdsforme 1 points 9 months ago.

A six episode mini series. The first few episodes seemed more like a soap drama. The last three were much better. I am doubting how historically correct it was, but it was quite entertaining to watch

Hachiko (2023)
LegitBoss 4 points 9 months ago.

It actually happened in Japan. Hachiko is pretty much a national hero there. He has his own bronze statue next to Shibuya Train Station in Tokyo.

Birdsforme 1 points 9 months ago.

Thanks for the info. I will correct comment. :)

Hachiko (2023)
Birdsforme 2 points 9 months ago*.

I saw the American version of this story staring Richard Gere and it was excellent. Since the story is true and happened in Japan, I imagine they did a good version of the story.

Bird Box (2018)
Birdsforme 2 points 9 months ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I just recently watched โ€œBird Box Barcelonaโ€ and during the discussion I realized I had never seen this film. This had a bigger story and much more drama, compare to the other film being mostly action. Very well done. A bit of trivia: The birds in the box were Pacific Parrotlets, but in the cage they were Lovebirds.

Resident Evil: Death Island (2023)

For all those who made comments about wanting to see this when links are out, it`s here.

The Clearing (2020)
Birdsforme 1 points 9 months ago.

I watched this film when it came out. Plenty of action and some dark zombie humor. Worth a one time watch.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022) S2 E6
Birdsforme 2 points 9 months ago.

Each time I watch this series I compare it to what Gene Rodenberrys series was like. I think these writers are coming very close. Often the episodes were a combination of science and emotions. The crew on the Enterprise in the future were a very close group and showed it by caring about each other in a personal way. I think James Kirks character portrayed with a combination of arrogance, compassion and humor is spot on. There is a nice development of quirky characters here too.I have been happy with the episodes so far as being a very good mirror of the first StarTrek.

Alchemy of the Spirit (2023)
Birdsforme 1 points 9 months ago.

Arty Indie film. Slow, low budget, with the two main actors both being husband and wife in real life. Nt much talking.Weird music in the background graded on me.

Bird Box: Barcelona (2023)
augusts1 1 points 9 months ago.

Did you see the 1st one? Iโ€™ve not & wondering if I need to see it in order to enjoy this one. Thanks in advance.

Birdsforme 2 points 9 months ago.

I don`t think I did see the first one. It did not refer to anything previous, so I would say it is not important to see the first to enjoy this one.

Bird Box: Barcelona (2023)
Birdsforme 3 points 9 months ago.

Contrary to IMDB I thought it was a solid four out of five stars. At the very end I understood what the title was about. Worth a watch, in my opinion.

Walk Up (2022)
Birdsforme 1 points 9 months ago.

Everything is is black and white. The conversations for the first half of the film are trivial. The females laugh at everything, whether funny or not. At one point red wine is ordered, but the they are drinking white. Maybe things are lost in translation, but I found it dry and boring as dust. Oh, and the subs are brite white on a white screen which makes it difficult to read.

Outlander (2014) S7 E5
Birdsforme 1 points 9 months ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Well, at least now we know at least one person will make it out of the war and back to Scotland. Meanwhile, back in the past, Jamie might do better with strategies if he goes directly to the General.A rather sad episode overall.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022) S2 E5
Birdsforme 2 points 9 months ago.

A fun episode, but I am guessing this version of Star Trek does not have to follow along the same lines as the first Star Trek. While watching this I kept remembering what T Pring did to Spock in the original series and it was a more dramatic and emotional situation.

The Quiet Girl (2022)
Birdsforme 1 points 9 months ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Very good, but slow moving. A girl with a large, highly dysfunctional family is sent to a home of a couple who treats her well and loves her. Her going back to what she left behind is at the beginning of the school year is heartbreaking.

Captain Fantastic (2016)

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022) S2 E4

Reminded me of the Star Trek when Gene Roddenberry was still alive and writing them. Good episode.

Chevalier (2023)

Interesting, if not totally accurate story of a black composer who`s music was temporarily lost after the French Revolution, and rediscovered years later.

These Vagabond Shoes (Short 2009) (2009)
Alien 2 points 10 months ago.

Directed by Scarlett Johansson just adds to the bizarreness.

Birdsforme 1 points 10 months ago.

Maybe they were both just bored and thought it would have be fun to make a hot dog commercial. But as commercials go, this one could put me to sleep.
