i was asking myself the same thing and looked it up .It is indeed the direct inspiration and has the Actor Sharito Copley in both.(scary thing is the news footage of locals talking about aliens is in fact actual footage of Soweto residence talking about Zimbabwean and Nigerian migrants) .The films are obvious allegory of apartheid and modern immigration racism

Basically Mad Max 0 .. even has Bruce Spence! (the gyrocopter fella from Max 2) .. not the same universe, but undeniable that without this film, the Max films would not exist :)

Criminally underrated on this site.
This was great.
Mad Max type film, and it was done VERY well.
Really nothing to complain about, being that it was done on a small budget; everything from the acting to the special effects to the plot lines were totally top notch.

If you like post apocalyptic type movies; you will love this.

I didn’t think it was his style.
