Is anyone else angered when a designer wins, and then they drop out of fashion completely? I mean there are literally thousands of other people who would give all they own to win and make their fashion brand memorable and a household name? For many of the winners it seems like, “I won. Now, I hate fashion, and I would love to be doing anything else.” Seriously, pull yourself from the competition first.

Recommended. First episode is crass and vulgar and laugh-out-loud funny. It really makes you question the era. Good. The word to describe this is, in every definition, smart.

Though the Hebrew parts of the Old Testament were written between the 6th and 5th century BCE (Torah), the Bible as we know it, or as close a proximity to it as possible today, was not written/compiled till 325CE during the First Council of Nicaea under the Roman Emperor Constantine. The writting of the Quran on the other hand started in 609CE and was finished in 632CE.

nikkimckelvy 0 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

True, but the Jews were master copyists. Their texts are A) basically identical and B) the most prolific in the ancient world. The First Council of Nicaea was more for the Greek Testament. If you want, I’ll get into the criteria that they followed to determine which books should be included in the Christian Bible. If would refer you to “The Case for Christ,” if you want to dig a little deeper, and I can point you to the actual sources that were used.

People Magazine Investigates: Cults (2018)
Krakken 1 points 4 years ago.

at least fanaticism is real. Gods and demons are fairy tales, so cult BS, and most who go into prison already believe a god exists, they just try harder after getting busted. learn some facts about your fellow delusional groupies!

nikkimckelvy -4 points 4 years ago.

There’s no delusion. Every, single race, culture, ethnic denomination and people have had and documented encounters with spiritual beings. Your belief or disbelief has absolutely no effect on those beings’ existence. It is entirely possible for a being to exist independently of whether or not you believe in them. For example I may believe my neighbors have a cat. My belief has no effect on their cat’s existence, and it is the same with God. Belief or disbelief has no effect on God’s existence. To claim something exists when 100% of the cultures, peoples, ethic groups, denominations in existence in the world today have had and documented encounters with that is not delusion- especially when examining both the beneficial and detrimental aspects of the beings in question.

Brianna would have been the better than George Ffloyd. George was in the process of committing a felony, but Brianna was shot and killed by police officers while she was asleep in her bed. The police officers were serving no knock search warrant, and went to the wrong address. They killed Brianna Taylor, and arrested her boyfriend for trying to defend himself from being attacked and murdered in his own home by said police. George Ffloyd’s murder was video recorded, but Brianna’s wasn’t which is why he gets the attention. Brianna was innocent, and her family cannot even sue the police officers (who couldn’t read an address!) for murdering her innocent daughter. All Lives Matter.

I have to answer Mr. Colbert’s question. Showing common sense for the first time in a very, very long time! Shhh. Don’t jinx it! You don’t want to scare them off! You’re ruining the only chance they have at being human!

I never could understand this musical. The ending is neither happy nor sad. The protagonist is not good, and there is nothing that must be overcome. The outcome is unclear. The acting, dancing, and music are fantastic, but the story itself is pointless.

So, Christian Siriantos whose father is from Italy isn’t considered Latin? Italy is practically the heart of Latin Europe. You can’t get anymore Latin than that!
Additionally, I was expecting Hanbok from the Korean girl. I’m rather disappointed in that.

Africa's Great Civilizations (2017) S1 E2
nikkimckelvy -1 points 4 years ago.

The point about Constantine is debated. It is much morel likely that if he did convert to Christianity, it was on his deathbed years later. He received a vision stating, “In this sign, you will prosper,” and that sign was a cross. For that reason, he stopped persecuting the Christians around 325 AD, but his actual conversion, if it happened at all, wasn’t until his deathbed. The documentary also doesn’t mention the African philosophers who helped to influence both Christianity and Islam- St. Augustine for example.

i thought the first christian emperor was justinian, and all the constantines after (?)

nikkimckelvy -1 points 4 years ago*.

There is debate as to if Constantine converted on his deathbed or not. Even if he didn’t convert, his kingdom was divided between this three sons. His son Constantine II was well known for being a Christian. One or the other would have been the first Christian Roman emperor. Justinian was 200 years later. That’s Wikipedia.

Stay Woke: The Black Lives Matter Movement (2016)
nikkimckelvy -1 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I know this is a polarizing issue, and anything I write will be down voted. I’ve lived much of my life outside of the U.S, and the police are more violent here than what they are in the vast majority of other countries I’ve been to. The denizens here may be right in claiming that the police kill more white people than they do black people, but truth be told, the police in other countries don’t kill. Someone’s melanin should not matter, black, white, red, yellow, brown or swirl isn’t important, and the police shouldn’t be killing at all. I firmly believe in police reform for this country, and it should be All Lives Matter!

then why havent they? and why are prisons filled to capacity with religious believers? maybe go learn some facts, faith based systems are the worst way to run anything!

You are ignoring the billions of people who started as criminals and turned their lives around because of Jesus Christ and Allah. The fanatics in the prisons are the exceptions, not the rule, and fanaticism in anything, not just religion, is bad. Learn the facts about fanaticism.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019)

Definitely a fictionalized account of what happened that night. Unbelievable. The only good thing about this is the original Sharon Tate. I’ve studied those murders, and I don’t recommend it. The costuming is good. That’s it. Don’t watch.

Jumanji: The Next Level (2019)
nikkimckelvy -4 points 4 years ago.

The Rock is a pretty face and body who has no acting skill at all, and he proves that (again) here. Jack Black is not a pretty face or body who has a ton of acting skill, and he does not fully prove that here. Iseman, Turner, and Hart all do their bests, but it still feels a little lacking. Awkwafina does a bang up job and almost saves the acting part of the movie single-handedly. Danny Devito is always phenomenal, and it’s a sad reflection on Johnson’s lack of skill that he (Devito) at his age can smolder better than Johnson can. The plot is a little weak and it suffers from horrible direction, but in a genre where the third film is usually the conclusion, this has a feel of a second film and left me wanting more. Overall, worth seeing once.

Batwoman (2019) S1 E4

I am going to have to disagree with you, because you did offend with your comment. Because I was not at all complaining about how they made her a lesbian, I was merely commenting about the speed in which the show chose to give us this relationship.

Your comment suggests that the removal of Kate Kane’s sexuality as a open Lesbian and having her do things like having a child or being a serial dater is seriously a prefered norm. That is a warped way to state that you do not want to see people of other orientations on your screen.

nikkimckelvy -5 points 4 years ago.

I stand corrected for the history of it, and I honestly did not mean to offend. I apologize for that. I honestly don’t care if she is gay or not. What I do care about is that there is no lead, female superheroine in comic books who have to balance a social life and family with crimefighting. This would, in my opinion, appeal to every woman in the armed forces, police department, fire department, and every single mother who has to take on mind blowing odds just to raise a family and be good person in today’s society. Kate Kane is trying to do that as a lesbian, and that’s fine. Where is that equivalent as a heterosexual woman?

Charlie's Angels (2019)

Just got done reading an article a few days ago where some LGBTQ group is trying to get Disney to make every major character trans or somesuch by 2026. Way over the top. And Disney is or was all about kids shows, once upon a time, or family oriented. I can see a lot of families banning Disney in the home in the near future if this happens.

nikkimckelvy -5 points 4 years ago.

What I don’t understand is this: We live in a democracy. Democracy is, “Majority rules.” The majority is heterosexuality. The entire definitions of both tolerance and acceptance are both that, to tolerate and to accept-not include. If we wish to include the GLBTQ community in all cinematic representations, then we also need to be including all other minorities equally so. The Latin American and African American communities aren’t depicted nearly as much in films, and the Latin American community is due to be come the majority in America by the year 2030. Why don’t we have all of our films in Spanish, Portugues, Italian, or Castillian?

I am 100% positive you do not know this man…I do going on 25 years now, this man would give you the shirt of his back if you needed it, him and I have worked in a number of charities together for the less fortunate, I have witnessed this man repair vehicles buy vehicles to give to single parent families that had no chance of having any transportation to get to work or bring there kids to hospital in case of an emergence, all out of his pocket, he hurts for those hurting. This is a man with a huge heart and a kind soul and very talented to boot…So please before you speak ill of someone think twice…..This is a great show, and it couldn’t happen to a better family, the majority of reality shows are filled with selfies self centered obnoxious people, this man is humble and caring…..*Be Kind

Let me rephrase, the first season of the show shows him getting conned a lot. This does not mean that he is a bad person. The first season is still depressing. I won’t watch the second. A grand jury is convened in order to get more info before an actual trial.
No lawyers allowed other than the prosecutor, prosecutors ask all of the
questions. There is no defense during a grand jury. Therefore the
prosecutors receive ammo before going into a full blown trial.
This all helps the prosecutor before going to trial, so if a grand jury
indicts, then the prosecutors know they have a winnable case.
Oh and also no objections can be raised during a grand jury.

The above comment should not be taken as truth, it is simply my
opinion as I understand it.

I wouldn’t mind seeing an End of Days episode- not zombie apocalypse- more realistic. The bladesmiths could create a knife that needs to be able to start a fire, skin an animal or lacerate a wound and cut kindling for example. They could create their knives out of scavenged everyday materials in outdoor forges. It’s just an idea.

I am super glad they brought this back! Yeah! Bad thing- the kid should have been about 10 years older. He’s not a bad actor, but his character is unbelievable, and it would have been better if they’d tried for a love triangle between Monkey, Trip, and the bounty hunter. I also find it repulsive that this is a family oriented show and it’s encouraging children to fight.
Good things- the crazy, silly characters are back! I love Monika. I like her sass.
I won’t say the ending, but if they don’t bring him back, all of the producers deserve to be roasted on a spit! Enjoy

i think the idea is that if a volcano did wipe em out, all other issues are redundant

nikkimckelvy 0 points 4 years ago.

That’s what I’m saying. The volcano isn’t the only theory as to what killed them all. Another theory that ins’t explored much is that they had inferior immune systems. A third theory is that humans had domesticated wolves and Neanderthals hadn’t. This would have provided extra meat, more protection for the clan, and an ability for single mothers to provide food for nursing babies (wolves hunt while she stays in the cave). Wolves also engage in coprophagia which means humans weren’t living in their own filth, and Neanderthals were. The volcanic eruption could have just been a coincidence, contributing factor, or had no effect. It’s one sided on the debate.
