I quit before season 1 was over also, then sadly I went back . Only cause of a lack of anything else to watch. I love a show with a continuing mystery, I just don’t know how lost could get it so right and this pile gets it so wrong. Esecially since this show is so clearly inspired by lost. “Cal’s” father on the show is not much better of an actor either, and the more I think about it the best actor of all of them may have been the guy his wife was having the relationship with while he was gone. Of course they had to write him out so as not to make everyone else’s acting appear so sub-par. My only guess is the entire show’s budget is spent on the FX and not the actor’s or the writers room.

This show was really good. I was surprised that it got canceled after just the one short season run. Maybe it was before its time or maybe it told a little more than the people behind the scenes wanted to be known. An easy binge to get drawn into just don’y allow urself to get to invested.

Its completely beyond me how a show this nonsensical can remain on the air, get renewed for more seasons when shows like Jericho get their legs cut out from under them. as if the plot lines themselves wer’nt laughable enough the acting is atrocious. It makes David Caruso’s C.S.I. Miami feel like Shakespeare. And I swear the kid, who’s basically the central focus of the story, has got to be the producers child or something. During what are supposed to be dramatic scenes he reads his lines with a smirk on his face, IDK maybe he can’t beleive people actually watch this BS either.

Hardy’s acting is superb, could have easily been a play which is highly dependent upon acting - that’s one reason why I liked it.

that’s a great point, surprised this has’nt been adapted to the stage by now, considering some of the choices they make in other film to play adapts.

The Outsider (2020)
EchotaChick 1 points 4 years ago.

Octo! Hi! Thanks for letting us know that. Seems like I saw one of them but not all 3, so I’m def going back. This show has been one of my all-time favorites. It’s just superb! And I adore the character Holly - do they ever say if she is actually on the spectrum? I’d bet a few dollars she has Asperger’s; do you think so?

Jhigh03 0 points 4 years ago.

Ive ways thought she was. Not sure if you know but Mr. Mercedes, also by King, has Holly in it also. Though she is played by a white chick and a little more aloof, so while both Characters show some social awkwardness that one for sure shows signs of Asperger’s. also, not sure if i was clear earlier but the BTS content for episodes 8,9 and 10 were all shown as one at the end of the finale. I used the mixdrop link also, I’m not sure if any of the other links are the same cut of video.

Hope others stay for the after credits scene…I always wait…but I’m a nerd. Hoping this goes on for at least another season….Horror without hardly showing ish….great storytelling.

Jhigh03 1 points 4 years ago.

agrreed, i for one went in thinking this was a True Crime story, especially with Batmen being in it. Totally hung a left on me and was much more engaging, for me, because of it.

The Outsider (2020)

Jhigh03 -3 points 4 years ago.

just read that king has a novella called“If it Bleeds” coming out in may. If features Holly and is a direct sequel to The Outsider. the article speculated that a season 2, if there is one, will follow that story. also, there was a small teaser after the credits and a pretty cool BTS feature for episodes 8,9 and 10 with some cool insight from King himself.

Jhigh03 -5 points 4 years ago.

came in here to see the spoiler content”,lol. didn’t expect this. now i feel compelled to second ur statment. The Fighter had Markety Mark flexing his acting chops and I do belive Batman won a supporting actor award. AAAAAAnd Creed had M.B. Jordan proving Fruitvale Station was not a fluke…….BTW, Didn’t Rock score a supporting actor award on that too, and he wrote it FFs. Ciderella man was ok as a Biopic but truthfully, calling it a boxing movie is a stretch. was their even two fights in the whole thing, I barely stayed awake. Crowe is a fine actor but I came to see two guys mean mug each other for 1 1/2 hours then beat the tar outa each other for 30 min. But hey, WTF do I know? I liked the hell outa Southpaw*, even cried a little.

I didn’t realize this girl is the lovely Laurette Spang’s daughter until today. Laurette was Cassiopeia in the original Battlestar Galactica, which I think was much better than the reboot. I read the book when I was a teenager, and the reboot has so many things wrong; especially the fact that Starbuck is supposed to be a man. Anyhow, this movie is actually ok. I just wanted to watch it because Laurette had posted it on her timeline. Thank you, uploaders.

Jhigh03 1 points 4 years ago.

i just dont get those that feel the need to shit on Starbuck cause the character was origanaly a man.Ronald Moore got it wrong cause SB was a cocky chick instead of a cocky dude, smh. the reboot was a modern scifi classic.

Russel Hornsby’s acting is so over the top and overly dramatic he makes C.S.I.’s David Caruso look like he’s doing Shakespeare. His character is also quite the sick, and highly unlikable even as a quadriplegic.

The Purge (2013)
onitsunami -1 points 4 years ago.

I feel like the intended, and unstated message… according to the plot of this film, is that without laws and government to keep us safe, the average person will become a homicidal psychopath?? and go on a killing rampage, sooo THANK GAWD for the government! and the brave men and women that are out there, everyday (except during The Purge) on the front line of our dangerous streets, saving us all from ourselves.

Sicko (2007)
Pseudonym -4 points 4 years ago.

Hmmm, I MAY have had some rhetorical fun, haha. But my criticism wasn’t about his honesty really, more the tragic role he’s played setting back the very causes he advocates. My guess would be out of some ill-conceived “fight fire with fire” counter-Limbaugh sorta deal, hitting all the same addictive-righteous-rage pressure valves.

When you’re on moral high ground, the smart play usually looks like helping others people up while pretending not to notice. In today’s insane resentment/“doubling down” culture war loop, to encourage waging a culture war in its own trenches is reactionary as best, rabid at worst.

Power (2014) S6 E15
Jhigh03 -1 points 4 years ago*.

Also that first teaser they showed at the end, the 1989 flashback(great tho see Carl from Shameless in the roll of Tommy), is supposed to get a spin-off too. I’m guessing that was the Power:Book III, Raising Kainan 50 Cent has said that he would be working on that while the other creator would be focusing on the Book II continuation.

Power (2014) S6 E15
Jhigh03 1 points 4 years ago.

And lastly, I wasn’t to happy with the second half of this final season at all. The format of made the whole thing feel drug out and really didn’t like seeing so many events replayed in each episode. To me that demonstrated lazy film making and falsely inflated the length of the episodes. and am more than a little pissed that in the end of ep.14, while Tommy was holding Ghost on the floor he clearly said “let her go”. Then pulled a bait and switch and when the scene was replayed the audio said”let him go”. The fact that they had to use something this lazy just to “surprise” people lets me know they really did not have a genuine way of keeping up the suspense

Power (2014) S6 E15

I agree I can’t see how Tony could have handled it any different. If I had started a fight with someone I wouldn’t expect a friend to step in and save the day. Justine started a fight with someone way out of his league maybe he should size up his opponent then decide if he’s worth the effort

Jhigh03 -3 points 4 years ago*.

He did 100% the right thing. He had them stop and if it would have gotten out of control I think he would have done more. But to tell the truth, what kind of lilk bitch gonna start a fight(throw the first punch even)then right away turn his back to the dude, lol.then once its over and you’ve basically called mercy, start talking trash again but only once a CO is between you. Then finally almost start crying while recalling the fight because you boy didnt help, lol,FFs. That white boy is straight bitch and I’d be embarrassed to go home after being shown on TV like that. He really has no Idea of the politics in jail. He was way to eager to jump into that cell with two other guys, and once Tony had said he was gonna look out for him means hje’s Tony’s property. And you can see where I’m going from there, that type of thing is not just in the movies, it’s real life, trust. keep quite and to urself for the most part, don’t borrow anything (even a pack of sugar). Keep your eyes facing forward and learn to be really good at Spades.

Armageddon (1998)
Badger -1 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I also love this film… in the same way I love Starship Troopers; it’s so bad that it comes full-circle and somehow becomes good again. Armageddon is NOT a good film, in any traditional sense, at all. For example: you think this film has a great story? To quote Ben Affleck, “You ever notice how everyone in these movies, they always have to be the best?”
“Bruce Willis is the best deep-core driller? I didn’t know they rated deep-core drillers. You know what I mean? Like, if you went around and asked somebody, ‘Who’s the best deep-core driller?’ How do you know? Who keeps track of these things?”
“I asked Michael why it was easier to train oil drillers to become astronauts than it was to train astronauts to become oil drillers and he told me to shut the fuck up. So that was the end of that talk. [Does Michael Bay voice] “You know, Ben, just shut up, OK? You know, this is a real plan.” I was like, “You mean it’s a real plan at NASA to train oil drillers?” and he was like, “Just shut your mouth!” See, here’s where we demonstrate that, because Bruce is gonna tell the guys that they did a bad job of building the drill tank. [With extreme sarcasm] See, he’s a salt-of-the-earth guy and the NASA NERDONAUTS don’t understand, uh, his salt-of-the-earth ways, his rough-and-tumble ways. [Just straight up laughing now] Like somehow they can build ROCKET SHIPS but don’t understand what makes a good tranny. Eight whole months? As if that’s not enough time to learn how to drill a hole, but in a week we’re gonna learn how to be astronauts? [Impersonating Willis’s character, Harry Stamper] “Oh one whole week? We’re gonna learn how to fly into space? I need my guys.” Why do you need ’em? “They’re the best.” Everyone’s the best. Why are they the best? “I don’t know, they just are.” I mean, this is a little bit of a logic stretch, let’s face it. They don’t know jack about drilling? How hard can it be? Aim the drill at the ground and turn it on.”
I’d actually recommend listening to the commentary, if you own a copy; it’s hilarious. Also did you notice how Bruce Willis’ character (Harry Stamper I think) is mentioned as having some kind of mental condition (his daughter claims that she became mentally older than him when she was still a child) and then it’s literally never mentioned again at any point in the film. No one at NASA seems to have any issues with putting a guy with the mental age of an 11 year old in charge of saving the planet, nor does Bruce Willis seem to put any effort into playing a 40 year old with a sub-13 mental age. An honorable mention has to go to, “HE HAS SPACE DEMENTIA!” That will always make me laugh so hard I almost piss myself.
In conclusion: almost nothing about this film is perfect but that doesn’t stop it from being awesome.

Jhigh03 -3 points 4 years ago.

FFs, really. You have got to be trolling to comment on an obvious Dig at here dad for being a meathead and claim it as a plot hole, lol You said one comment up that you didn’t mean to appear as overly combative, guess just normally combative then. Sure seems like your going out of your way to attack this film. And your wrong about This and Starship Troopers, they are both great cause the are both F’n great. Cuanuck Even said in his OG post why he dug this so much and I agree 100%, The themes of family and taking care of thgose we love far out trump the action(while great) a nd comedy.
Honestly now that I think about it, You seem very bitter towards this movie, to the point of being triggered even. It’s as if you were a cast member or part of the film crew on snoozer like Deep Impact.(Armageddon rip-off,BTW)

Armageddon (1998)
Badger -1 points 4 years ago.

Please google, “scientific mistakes in Armageddon”. There are over 160 (you spotted the most glaringly obvious but there are a LOT more)! And that’s just the actual scientific errors, not the logical incongruities/bizarre decisions which make no sense (say training oil drillers to be astronauts instead of the other fing way around. I don’t pretend to be either an oil driller or an astronaut but I’m pretty certain which one’s more difficult). I don’t know which lists of great 90s films you’re looking at but this film’s not usually on them at all. For example: Pulp Fiction, The Matrix, Terminator 2, Jurassic Park, the Shawshank Redemption, Goodfellas, the Silence of the Lambs, Schindler’s List, Titantic, Seven, Forrest Gump, the Sixth Sense, Fight Club, the Big Lebowski, Reservoir Dogs, Trainspotting, Good Will Hunting, Fargo, American Beauty, Groundhog Day. That’s 20 films from the 90s picking randomly and in no specific order which are widely regarded as better than this one. I could’ve easily done another 20 without mentioning this film.

Jhigh03 -1 points 4 years ago*.

obviously His fondness for thgis movie is his opinion, though I’m sure many here agree with him as I do. I agree some the movies you named could be considered better than this you named Titanic andf Good Will Huntingand I’m almost positive the later would not win a pop[ularity contest against Armagddon.

Damn, who is doing the writing for this show. And even worse is whoever is green lighting this retconned BS for Warrenn. His character has been a part of this shared universe with Greys long enough for him to go from an anesthesiologist to a doctor then to a firefighter and now they decide its a good idea to give his whole carrear journey a tramatic experience as the reason for it, gtfo. As good as premium TV has gotten over the last % or so years network Tv has, for the most part, been garbage.
