I really enjoyed this episode. It helps to highlight the importance of women in horticulture.

Hoping Quentin stays dead, his character sucked

nikkimckelvy -2 points 4 years ago.

It’s official that the actor playing QC will not be back, but the character may or may not come back with a different actor. You got half your wish at least. I maintain the series needs a strong, male lead in it. The other two males do not count as either strong or men imho.

Super cheap, super cheesy, classic class B, 80’s. Cleary meant to fufill men’s dreams and destroy feminism. Script=terrible. Acting=laughably bad. Plot=nonexistent. This is a cult classic. Overall, enjoy!

Doctor Who (2005) S12 E10
Lyrad8791 -2 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I can’t say anything about the regeneration cycles but, I can say that the Master and Doctor were childhood friends. I believe that has been pointed to in multiple episodes across the series thus far. Personally, I am not watching anything written or directed in the current setup, so don’t know what has been changed.

nikkimckelvy 0 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Clearly they were friends before the Master went insane. I’ve watched the series for decades and usually love every second. Their previous friendship is also part of cannon. What has also been long established as cannon is that there are only 12 regenerations available. One of the flaws in the series is that the Master is currently at more than 15 regenerations, and the Doctor is currently on regeneration 14. Many Whovians, myself included, have long desired an explanation for this. This episode is an attempt to provide that, and it fails abysmally. The viewer is left with more questions than answers; hence my confusion.

Emma. (2020)
nikkimckelvy 3 points 4 years ago.

Interestingly, if you watch the last five or six renditions of this book, every single one of them casts someone who has made it famous in Hollywood before they were famous. Gweneth Paltrow, Jonny Lee Miller, Kate Beckinsale, and a few others all got noticed with this one story. I wonder who will continue the streak with this one?

Doctor Who (2005) S12 E10
nikkimckelvy -2 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I don’t understand. The Master has regenerated more than the Doctor. This doesn’t even come close to explaining the regeneration incongruence. How can the Master regenerate more than 15 times? Is s/he/it from the same planet at the Doctor? This was an attempt to solve a loose end, and it just created a million more. We need something more comprehensive that falls within cannon, not something wholly outside of it.

Whoever said, “Straight men cannot sing, dance, or act,” has never seen Gene Kelly. This is a classic! Why can’t modern men love like this?

Doctor Dolittle (1967)

I forget how wonderful this musical is. They may remake the story, but nothing beats the original. It can be retold but not surpassed.

Doctor Who (2005)

I like the multiple companions. It’s like they’re creating a sense of family for the doctor.

Strange Magic (2015)
nikkimckelvy 2 points 4 years ago.

Clearly based on Shakespear’s, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” this hidden gem is a fantastic tale of goblins, fairies, elves, and a magic potion. It’s great for the entire family. The songs are classics, but they are a little out of place and mis-timed. The colors are beautiful and bright. Overall, worth seeing many times with the entire family. George Lucas does it again.

The Ice Pirates (1984)
nikkimckelvy 4 points 4 years ago.

This one is fantastic! Class B science fiction. It’s cheesy and funny and odd. You’ll even see a very young Angelica Houston wielding a sword in a good fencing scene! It’s great!

The Goebbels Experiment (2005)

This is a very haunting film, and a unique look at WWII. I didn’t know he kept a diary. It’s disturbing. Well done.

Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries (2012)

I absolutely love this series. Love watching the costumes, and Phryne is mighty sassy. Definitely worth the watch. It’s so unfortunate that it is cancelled. I wish they would bring it back.

I believe they’re coming out with a movie based on this series. It’s called Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears. I want to see it!

So Xtianity and Islam -are- in the show? Oh, OK.

His claim is self-evident, the show itself proof that neither Xtianity nor Islam are in the show. Your reply, tho? A No True Scots followed by two unprovens which serve as a false dichotomy [which seems to be the fallacies you mostly lean on ever after].

Good stuff.

nikkimckelvy 0 points 4 years ago.

Again, this conversation was with Krakken, but I’ll answer as best as I am able. There is nothing self-evident about his claim. If anything, the self evident part is that the fact that science hasn’t explained everything perfectly yet, and the part that it has explained is so intricate that it points to an intelligent being creating science and everything science teaches us is evidence and proof of a diety or dieties in existence in the world today. The “No True Scots,” part I don’t understand. If you want to continue this discussion on my wall, that would, I believe, be a more acceptable forum.

People Magazine Investigates: Cults (2018)

nikkimckelvy -3 points 4 years ago.

This conversation has been between Krakken and myself. Krakken started with with an implied negation. I’m simply asking him or her to prove it. The burden of proof lies with the person who started the claim- Krakken- not me.

People Magazine Investigates: Cults (2018)
Krakken -1 points 4 years ago.

no just because they seen something they couldn’t understand in no way means a god, or spirit was there! and if your neighbors cat is there you can see it, touch it, feed it, A god you cant on any of those levels! so your implication is as idiotic as a god caring about what you do and who you sleep with! documented delusions withy beings in a dream are pathetic at best!

nikkimckelvy -4 points 4 years ago.

Let’s continue the metaphor. You make the assumption that the cat out of the house. Some cats are indoors only. It doesn’t matter whether or not I see the cat. My belief has no effect on it’s existence. I can choose to not believe that they have a cat and they’ve got one-even if I’ve never seen it. Disbelief in something doesn’t effect it’s existence.
They belief system you are describing is called, “God of the gaps.” It basically states that people have no explanation for a scientific occurrence so they attribute that occurrence to God. If you study philosophy, you’ll learn about it. Here’s the rub with it. Even if you were to discover a scientific explaination for every, single thing on the planet, you would still not disprove God’s existence. As the supposed atheist, it is your job to disprove God’s existence, and God of the gaps, doesn’t do that. It simply states there is another explanation for the same thing. God could just as easily have created whatever it was that caused the scientific phenomena.
Additionally, you still haven’t explained the countless billions of lives who have been transformed and improved by people believing, following, and accepting God.

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah (2015) S2020 E19
Badger -2 points 4 years ago*.

“Obama had a majority in both houses for two years. He didn’t want to get anything done, just like Pelosi. Stop deluding yourself that anyone in DC is acting in your best interests.” You seem very combative; the assumptions about me alone are a bit much. I don’t think anyone in DC’s acting in my best interests. Obama had a majority in both houses for two years? So what didn’t he have for the other 6? A majority, hence he ruled by executive decree, much like Trump. Can you see how you’re not actually disagreeing with me?
“Pelosi knew that impeachment would only help Trump” Why do you think that? His approval ratings have stayed fairly constant throughout the process. And, more to the point, why aren’t you using your psychic powers to solve crimes?
“Meanwhile, both parties sell us out to their corporate paymasters, and let the military industrial complex dictate our foreign policy.” I’d tend to agree but: you think Trump’s letting the traditional military industrial complex dictate his foreign policy? Really? If so the military industrial complex are absolute (EDIT: apologies for the prior language) idiots. Trump’s foreign policy, so far, has resembled a roulette wheel, not the careful coordination one would expect from industrial paymasters. If you’d said that about Bush/Obama then, again, I’d agree, Trump though? Not so much.
“Pelosi’s faux-resistance may be fooling you, but she has no intention of actually standing in Trump’s way.” With great power comes great responsibility and you’re clearly a Professor Xavier level telepath so I think you should probably form the X men at this point. Not only do you apparently know what I think, you also know what Pelosi thinks. You have amazing powers my friend. Use them to do something truly amazing.
Notice how I don’t think I ever assumed any of your thoughts and only asked what I thought were quite reasonable questions. You’ve still not answered my main question (and I’ve responded to all of your points): what more could Pelosi do?

nikkimckelvy 0 points 4 years ago.

@both Dethanos and Badger, I’ve lived much of my life outside the U.S, and Trump is the most hated president in recent memory. Americans inside America don’t see it, but I have witnessed, first hand, on an international level the mass murders that his trade polices have instigated (whith his knowledge), the horrors he has inflicted on other countries, and any number of other atrocities he’s committed. He should have been evicted from that office about a month after he was elected. He knew he could beat the impeachment in the Senate, and he did it through getting dirt on his fellow Republicans, relying on their blindly, insipidly following their party, and blocking witnesses that would impeach him. On a massive level, the U.S. will be facing a massive fallout when he’s gone. To minimize that, he should have been evicted. Now, I’m just praying no one votes for him and I’m praying he doesn’t get dirt on the members of the electoral congress. Trump is a sham as a president- cramming more about expanding his real estate empire and about power than about anything else. Delusions of godhood come to mind.

at least fanaticism is real. Gods and demons are fairy tales, so cult BS, and most who go into prison already believe a god exists, they just try harder after getting busted. learn some facts about your fellow delusional groupies!

nikkimckelvy -4 points 4 years ago.

There’s no delusion. Every, single race, culture, ethnic denomination and people have had and documented encounters with spiritual beings. Your belief or disbelief has absolutely no effect on those beings’ existence. It is entirely possible for a being to exist independently of whether or not you believe in them. For example I may believe my neighbors have a cat. My belief has no effect on their cat’s existence, and it is the same with God. Belief or disbelief has no effect on God’s existence. To claim something exists when 100% of the cultures, peoples, ethic groups, denominations in existence in the world today have had and documented encounters with that is not delusion- especially when examining both the beneficial and detrimental aspects of the beings in question.

The story is good but the movie was sloppily executed. I guess that’s because all the money went on Will Smith and the special effects.

I am 100% positive you do not know this man…I do going on 25 years now, this man would give you the shirt of his back if you needed it, him and I have worked in a number of charities together for the less fortunate, I have witnessed this man repair vehicles buy vehicles to give to single parent families that had no chance of having any transportation to get to work or bring there kids to hospital in case of an emergence, all out of his pocket, he hurts for those hurting. This is a man with a huge heart and a kind soul and very talented to boot…So please before you speak ill of someone think twice…..This is a great show, and it couldn’t happen to a better family, the majority of reality shows are filled with selfies self centered obnoxious people, this man is humble and caring…..*Be Kind

Let me rephrase, the first season of the show shows him getting conned a lot. This does not mean that he is a bad person. The first season is still depressing. I won’t watch the second.
