Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. (2023)
yellow_rose1 0 points 1 year ago.

this coming of age book, I read this when I was 10 years old. it was back in 1980 and it is also what started my faith in god and nobody in my house had any faith. I believe If I had never read this book I would not have become Catholic. I believe she is jewish in this but it is so long ago I don’t really remember. Great read for a preteen. I shall check this out

Life After Lockup (2019) S5 E9
yellow_rose1 1 points 1 year ago.

I didn’t like Chance right from the start. He manipulative, controlling a lier and he was using Taylor all along. It is a shame she had a baby with him because even if they stay together he’s not going to help her with the baby. He a big baby himself. I hope she realizes she’s better off alone

Benji (1974)
BellaMia1 2 points 1 year ago.

Man, I don’t know how many times I saw this movie, back in the days. Had me crying every time. A classic, feel-good movie for the whole family.

yellow_rose1 1 points 1 year ago. (Contains Spoilers)

My Dad took me to the movies to see it when it was released. There is a part in the movie where Benji’s little dog friend gets hurt and I cried so hard and loud. My Dad finally calmed me down and explained, it’s just a movie and that the little while dog didn’t actually get hurt. This is coming from the man that cried when he took me to see Lady and the Tramp. We are both very emotional people to this day. I can’t wait to spend time with them(Mom and Dad) today. I just wanted to let you know I have the same reaction to this movie. Also Happy Easter. I hope you are well

Calls From the Inside (2021) S2 E10

Why was this violent offender let out on bond? Why was this little girl not given the necessary protection? All I could think about was a girl at the same age as her, also from West Africa. If something like that happened to her it would make me crazy. This could have been prevented

Andromeda (2022)
greyfur 1 points 1 year ago.

is my understanding. told there will be 4 weeks of pt, 2x a week, with homework, and a lot of homework after that. no real idea how long it will take to get full use back. can’t really do much at the moment, but only had the surgery the 13th, so has not been long.

typing with one finger sucks though…is the cuff…

yellow_rose1 1 points 1 year ago.

oh no. I did injure my cuff falling off my bike. I didn’t do the surgery and it took a year to heal. I did have surgery on my hand not too many years ago and the exercises are crucial to your recovery and how fast you are going to heal as well as no smoking. If you are a smoker. I had to do dishes with one hand now that was tricky. Take care of yourself. I wish you the best

thanks. not really painful, just hard to sleep with the contraption they got me wearing, so finally started to take it off at night to sleep. only really hurts any when i’m laying down, but doubt that will be for very long.

will get the few stitches i got out on the 23rd, and will probably get out of this thing as well. won’t start pt until the 3rd of next month, which i need to get to, as the use of the arm is pretty limited at the moment.

thanks for the prayers, can use all of those i can get.

yellow_rose1 1 points 1 year ago.

I hope you have a speedy recovery. However If it’s the rotator cuff I hear it can take a while.

Jussie Smollett: Anatomy of a Hoax (2023)
yellow_rose1 2 points 1 year ago.

This is by far one of the best docu series I have had the pleasure to watch. Not just the story itself but the humor in which the people being interviewed used. I could not stop laughing at some of the content. I really didn’t pay much attention to this case when it was happening. I knew bits and pieces of the story so much of what I heard was news to me. However even if you followed the case it is so worth the watch.

Cops (1989)
Bkr2110 6 points 3 years ago*.

Why don’t they just offer COPS and Live PD (one of the, if not the, top rated shows on cable) for like $1.99 a month for people who can handle it? I’ve never seen cops act inappropriately in these shows.

Ban these yet Grand Theft Auto cop killer video games are just fine.

Remove Elmer Fudd’s shotgun from Looney Tunes but leave Grand Theft Auto as is. Priorities. For the kids.

yellow_rose1 3 points 1 year ago.

I was watching a documentary about how the police depicted in the tv show has a written contract where the police that are filmed in the tv show hold the rights to what is edited in or out of the show. Once I heard that it really burned me because the producers of the show made the viewers believe this was a fly on the wall type of documentation, yet it is anything but.

Thank you. It was difficult. There’s no reason for him to be swearing about any of this. I’m sure if Primewire could be functioning as usual, it would be. They’re probably just as bummed about all of this as the rest of us. :(

yellow_rose1 2 points 2 years ago.

Absolutely. Why they were targeted PW and not many others is beggars belief. I am heartbroken but to get angry with them serves no purpose. Be angry at the establishment for heaven sake. I’m hoping with some time and patients we can all get this site to where it was.

The Pink Floyd Story: Which One's Pink? (2007)
Trickster 2 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I find it ridiculous to say they were unloyal to Syd at all, when just about every other bit of information written or on film says in fact the opposite.

They were a young group of lads themselves, and from what you say I can’t believe you didn’t know that it was the LSD that basically had a terrible effect on his mental health. Syd was taking copious amounts of LSD to experiment on, they tried getting him help but what can a bunch of kids out of college going to do, especially in the bloody 60s, when understanding addiction and the effects with that and mental health were little,

Many times he was incapable of actually performing, But still even when stardom and the drugs and mental illness became too much, the group decided that he would still get his cut of all moneys made by Pink Floyd, long after he went and till he passed away. Doesn’t sound like anything described above. In fact, I’d say it sounds like the exact opposite and the writings of someone who knows very little about Pink Floyd and especially how they felt about Syd. I mean, the song about Syd crazy diamond speaks volumes about how the group missed him. If anyone out there has come into contact
drugs and mental health problems, fact is unless that person wants serious help it isn’t going to happen, IMO it seems rather poorly analysed and definitely missing so much of the story especially when it came to the band’s love for Syd, a man with mental problems and because of drugs wanted no part of the showbiz life and making sweeping statements on their former bandmate basically on poor sound bites seems lame tbh.

If you’re actually interested in Pink Floyd, a one-hour poor documentary isn’t going to tell you much, especially with a few good ones out there like, The Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett Story, Making of Dark Side of The Moon and The Story of Wish You Were Here, plus others.

yellow_rose1 0 points 2 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

I have to agree. I had heard many times over it was Sid Barrett that wanted to be reclusive the sicker he became. Just wanting to be away from even his own family. I guess it’s what a person chooses to believe. His personal story is sad as hell for sure

Don’t waste your time watching the hollywood version of this story. Watch this instead. Great documentary!

yellow_rose1 1 points 2 years ago.

I didn’t like the Hollywood version. In fact I couldn’t get through 20 minutes of it. I was surprised at how unengaging it was. So thanks for letting me know this is worth watching. I have it on my watch list and now I’ll watch it for sure

Nothing was in this documentary that was not already in the news. The only thing I was looking for was questioning of Brian Laundrie’s parents and full disclosure of Brian Laundrie’s notebook. Also missing was why Brian Laundries was kicked out of a restaurant while on the road trip. I was surprised Laundrie’s parents were not even taken in for obstruction of justice. Must be nice to have money and a lawyer’s protection. For me, this documentary was nothing new and a complete waste of time.

that’s what I figure a few minutes in but thanks for affirming what I believed to be true already now I don’t have to waste my time

this story is so outrageous that there were times in which I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Literally! I’m so glad that cook county finally had the courage to set this right. Most cases such as this the powers that be just can’t admit wrong doing. Great story though 5/5
