Matt Walsh is such a hack.

Gotta say. Off to a good start. Always been a fan of Blade Runner and this aesthetic doesn’t disappoint.
Go see this in the theater if you can!!! If not, watch it anyway. 9/10
universal soldier was about a soldier being brought from the dead. no “superpowers” as per se. was dead so couldn’t die again without extreme measures. he was dead a soldier brainwashed….hence not dead, but comatose whien brainwashed into being this person. he was person, but had no feelings or sense of pain due to the brainwashing. this becomes evident in US 2+ as the timeline goes on. jean claude remembers who he is, and becomes the soldier he used to be with the same morals and the family that has “buried” him yrs before.
Clearly you need to rewatch Universal Soldiers as they DID have super human powers. Case in point he pushes a truck all night long at 30 some odd miles an hour. As for the rest of your reply… YOU JUST DESCRIBED THIS MOVIE TOO! It is the exact same.
Well. This is very 2001ey. The visuals are amazing but the pace just can’t seem to gain any locomotion. The main characters are horribly robotic with little if any emotion. That said, the story is intriguing and I found myself eager to find out what’s waiting at the end. If you arent of fan of 2001 then you probably won’t like this. But if you want to see a pretty good space flick and don’t mind a slow burn then give this a shot.
This movie is laughable and not based in reality. It might make people feel good, but history tells a story quite different than the one portrayed here.
Whew. This movie is terrifying how so close to the brink we can be.
A garbage prequel to a mediocre spin of a tired buddy cop genre. So this is how Jeff Bridges’ original becomes a ghost cop. So… why does he age after he dies? Anyway, it’s pretty awful.
Another failed academic, noting nothing, as per usual, but claiming everything… a typical socialist. Socialism is simply a failed form of communism, which is its natural progression…ultimately. You know what brings people, together, and prevents wars….trade. That’s right economic trade. Provide or offer me something to purchase, and I will endeavor to develop that relationship, as opposed to killing you. It has proven the test of time. Academics like to make much of their usual socialist hyperboles, but never provide any real world examples that were successful..never.So instead they theorize, conjecture, speculate, and pretend things haven’t worked out because it simply hasn’t been done the right way. They’re narcissists by nature pretending to self-immolate, when in reality it is impossible for them to deny themselves. Something akin to the Klaus Schwabs of the world, who think they are above everyone else. Why do u think we are in the crud we are in now? He is of the same ilk, and has cost millions of lives, not from an exaggerated pandemic, but rather from economic capitulation. And there is far more lost lives to come. Socialists are delusional, and full of themselves. For the communal good they tell you.Right. Just ask my cousins who live in Venezuela. You’d think one would learn this from a simple novel like Animal Farm , or Lord of the Flies. Simply dangerous Nonsense.
You do realize that Venezuela’s collapse was due to their putting all their eggs in one basket with their vast oil reserves and banking on the hope it would pay off instead of diversifying into agriculture and infrastructure right? To simply say, “See? They’re socialist and look what happened!” is about as unacademic as you can get. Add the fact that there was incredible corruption by Maduro.
Fantastic movie. Excellent cinematography, great characters with little exposition, but with that little such great character development. It’s definitely for the more refined movie snob.
Production value of a CW show. I could care less to what happened to any of the generic characters. Tolkien couldn’t follow this plot.
Two episodes in and I’m afraid I have some gripes. I absolutely love this book. Please go and read the unabridged version. I even liked the original miniseries. That said I have a few complaints. First is that this adaptation downplays the magnitude of the virus and the absolute chaos it creates. Of course there are scenes with lots of bodies around but they are extremely infrequent and very limited. This is due to the fact that they are already showing scenes from things that happen half way up to almost 2/3’s of the way through the novel. And that bugs me to death. I don’t mind nonlinear story telling but this just jumps right into the Mother Abigail and Randall Flagg alignments. This should have been introduced WAY later than the first two episodes. The whole mystery of the dreams and the pull towards whichever faction starts about halfway in the book and it’s what makes the story compelling when it’s introduced in the original way. Imagine if someone remade Star Wars and you get the opening with Leia and Darth Vader then the next scene is Luke on Dagobah. To me it’s that jarring. At this rate they should be done by episode 4. The casting was very unusual as well. Stu Redman is supposed to be this 40 something Texan but here he’s played by Cyclops. Mother Abigail is over 100 but yet they went with Whoopi. The deaf guy is missing an eye? Leon looks exactly like the deaf guy. And Eric Skaarsgard just isn’t menacing enough to pull off a diabolical character like Randall Flagg. This choice HAD to be because his brother did so well as Pennywise. I do like Larry Underwood’s casting choice and Harold’s as well. Even Nadine looks like the original Nadine. But all the rest just really take me out of the story. I also agree that the bloating just seems ridiculous as a symptom of this virus. It’s just overly done for dramatic purposes and doesn’t receive the desired result it tries to convey. I’m going to watch the full series but so far I’m having trouble enjoying it. But that’s just me being hypercritical simply because I love the source material so much. I highly urge whoever reads this to go out and get the book.
If only shows excelled because of promise. I admit I lost a little interest when the media went all “GAY SUPERHERO WOMAN”. Who cares about the gay angle. Just tell a story and let us work out the details.
Yes, this is truly great show that many peopled missed. It’s proof you don’t need a big budget to create great characters, dialogue and storylines. Inventive sci-fi material with lots of humor, as well. I’m still pissed the last season was cut, but the two-episode movie-finale they did instead (at the insistence of an outraged fan write-in campaign) was very well done, despite being a bit crammed with plot.
Not a big budget?!? The whole thing was done with Jim Hensons workshop! An episode was between 1 to 2 million so I have no idea what you’re talking about and the production value shows that. Doesn’t need a big budget…. pfffft.
Wow! So much is going on….. drama, action more drama and more action! And then Blam! Horrific Lovecraftian weirdness in your face!
What else to say about this 1st ep? Plenty. But not without spoilers I think.
Oh, and please do stick around till after the credits for a sneak peak.
I’m not even about to watch this. Can someone tell Hollywood that this story is sooooo tired? These aren’t even spoilers. Bad guy knicks wife/gf or whatever and good guy has to kick ass to get her back with the final bad guy getting blown up in some cliche way but not before the good guy has a quick one liner. It’s literally a tale as old as time.
I mean. Blind people tracking other blind people? I’m open minded but… I’m having trouble with the capabilities some of the characters display.
Did I just watch a Dr. Who episode?
