During the Great Depression, a creative writer, Tom, is devastated at the loss of his beautiful bride-to-be, Melissa. Having lost his inspiration and muse, he becomes a hopeless drunk for years and does not write one word. One day, while visiting Melissa’s grave, Tom stumbles upon an old typewriter and what is lodged within—Hollywood’s formulaic rules for successful script writing. Seduced into thinking this shall set him free from his plight, Tom launches into a flurry of demonic writing. His creative instincts are assaulted as a battle between good and evil, the poetic screenwriter and the Hollywood machine, ensues. |
