Charles Booming learns of his terminal disease early in the movie. With a heavy heart and regret, he gathers the courage to call Kathleene, except he reaches her daughter instead. He asks her to give “Kat” a time and a place for them to meet. Finally, after a long, long time, Charles and Kat meet. It’s a strong, and awkward moment. They get to break the ice, but a fan recognizes Charles Booming from his Hero days, this sends Charles into a frenzy, which makes Kat teletransport them out of there and to a park. After taking a small stroll through the park, Kat and Charles have an all out conversation. She still resents him but is willing to give him a chance. They go out on their first date in twenty years, and they are their younger selves again, literally. After the date, they go back to the park, where a man tries to harass them. Charles is forced to use his super-strength against some kid, he deals with the situation but when he comes back he finds out Kat is dead, or dying. After a doctor visits Kat’s daughter’s home, he tells them nothing can be done. She’s gone. Charles leaves the apartment in a frenzy, except that now, now he has found his purpose in life again. He returns to his home where he retrieves an old police radio, finds an emergency, and goes to it.
