Cipo Titica is a parasitic vine that grows tall into the trees of the Amazon Rainforest. This short film examines the lives of three people who have creatively made use of this vine, both economically and artistically, and turned this local natural resource of Rio Acre, Brazil into unique opportunities for themselves and their families. For 24 years, Raimundo Ourivi has carved out an existence in the rainforest by tapping rubber, collecting Brazil nuts, and now harvesting the Titica vine from the trees in the nearby jungle. In the city, Ieda Luisa and Sulane Kelly have used cipo to weave beautiful artisan ware since 1986. Through interviews and demonstrations, they tell the stories of their lives and livelihoods in the Rainforest. |
