“Leap Year Nightmare” is a documentary about at-risk teens shooting their first short film. Julie Alexander, a director at the Rhubard Theater, works with 11 teens to write, direct, and act out their short film. A professional film crew comes for one weekend to mentor the teens on being cast and crew for their film, and a documentary filmmaker captures it all on tape. Crew members continually switch hats to act as both cast and crew as tempers flare, personalities collide, and the clock ticks. |
