Columbia production number 1853: The brightest stars of Hollywood gather to honor Jane Russell and celebrate the founding in 1951 of WAIF (the World Adoption International Fund), and also her backing and support of the Federal Orphan Adoptation Amendment of 1953, which allowed children of American servicemen, born out of the U.S.A., to be placed for adaptation in the United States. Jane Rusell and her husband, professional (National Football League) football player Bob Waterfield, adopted three children.
