A compilation of short silent films (ranging from under one minute to about eleven minutes in length) produced by Thomas A. Edison’s company during the early days of motion pictures (covering a range from 1893 to 1912). Text cards provide background information and directing credits for each film. Some shorts are grouped into categories (actualities, comedies, fantasies). The program includes footage from the aftermath of the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake, an adaptation of “Uncle Tom’s Cabin”, and the famous early action film “The Great Train Robbery” (1903). |
