THE PLIGHT OF CECIL stars ventriloquist Carla Rhodes and her cantankerous sidekick, Cecil Sinclaire. Cecil is a vaudeville agent trying to fill his roster, and Carla is his reluctant assistant. Pearl Friday, a real live dove, is the secretary. We get a glimpse into Cecil’s absurd office, daily life and even witness a client auditioning! Dark undertones develop, suggesting something sinister will unravel in future episodes. The episode contains a goofy commercial, songs and plenty of jokes.
