I.M. Monion falls in love with his stenographer, Maud Mueller, and proposes to her. The pretty young girl informs her employer that she will give her answer when she returns from her vacation. At the summer resort Miss Mueller meets Mr. Monion’s son. The two are constantly together. Finally young Monion proposes to Maud and is accepted. They are about to be married by the justice of peace when the latter informs them that he cannot perform the ceremony unless Miss Mueller produces a birth certificate. Returning to the hotel, Monion receives a telegram from his father requesting him to return to the city immediately, as business matters demand his attention. Monion leaves and his fiancée returns to the city. That same afternoon Miss Mueller is struck by an automobile and rendered unconscious. A doctor is summoned who identifies her. A few weeks later Miss Mueller, now recovered fully from her accident, returns to the city whereupon entering her employer’s office is greeted lovingly by Mr. Monion and his son. I.M. Monion requests the young beauty to give him her answer. He produces an engagement ring, as does the son. Both are overwhelmed when informed that her name is not Maud Mueller, but Maud Mueller Monion, her employer’s daughter. Sad at the loss of a charming wife, but happy in the discovery of their lost one, they welcome her into their hearts and home.
