The town of Sulina is today part of Romania, located in the middle of the Danube Delta and accessible only by boat. Once it was a thriving independent city of fortune seekers, merchants and refugees, a cosmopolitan trading hub that drew men and women from all over the world. Today it is a ghost town. In ‘’Before the Fall’’, the narrator returns to Sulina to find out the truth about his grandfather, who vanished from the town in the 1930s. The line between documentary and mockumentary is blurred as the narrator tries to uncover the true history of this forgotten town - and the fate of his grandfather. The film was made on a budget of $157. |
