Details:

In trying to pick her up when they meet for the first time on the beach, Hal Le Roy tells Dawn O’Day that he works in management at the Grand Majestic Theater. She, in turn, says that she knows important people in theater. In reality, he is one of the Grand Majestic’s lowly ushers, who likes to dance in his spare time, but who does have management aspirations. She, on the other hand, is a chorus girl in the latest show at that theater, she who is having problems learning the routines as she feels confined by chorus work. Hal and Dawn recognizing each other at the theater at the most inopportune time leads to both of them being fired. Commiserating in their new-found joint unemployment, they decide to join forces in a vaudeville dance act. With a little help from the Grand Majestic’s headliner Jack Hollis, they become a success. When they learn that “Le Roy & O’Day” are booked at the Grand Majestic, Hal thinks he knows a way to get back at Mr. Simkins, the theater’s manager, for firing him.
