The Castle Park Annual High School Spelling Bee is the perfect opportunity for social misfit Gemma Blonde to prove herself as a top student. But her blind quest for glory leaves her open to the predations of child prodigy and self-styled infant phenomenon Chankings, and the misanthropic megalomaniac Dr Glozbin.
