Over the course of the Syrian revolution, hundreds of people have been killed as a direct result of their on-line activities. E : xile follows the story of Dlshad Othman, a Syrian digital security expert and human rights activist hiding out in Ireland. From a small village outside Dublin, Dlshad works around the clock to ensure the safety of activists and journalists on the digital frontlines of the Syrian uprising. But Dlshad’s philosophies stretch far beyond the Arab spring, with repercussions for the future of information, censorship and online privacy in western democracies. |
