Details:

“I’d rather get married than batch with you as the cook,” said Ham to Bud on a summer’s morning, when Bud’s stew proved particularly tasteless. “You’ve got nothing on me,” Bud retorted. “I was thinking of acquiring a wife myself.” Whereupon without further ado our boon companions step forth in quest of wives that can cook, and live on nothing per week. Ham calls at a marriage broker’s office in search of his dream girl. When he is shown the portrait of a raving beauty and told to procure a marriage license and wait that afternoon in the park for her, he does a little raving himself, after paying the fee exacted by the broker. Bud calls later in the day and is shown the identical picture that had set Ham’s heart to pounding. He, too, takes up his station in the park to wait for his bride-to-be. After an all-night vigil, Ham and Bud awake to a realization that they have been gloriously stung! Whereupon they make a bee line for the marriage broker’s office, capture the girl and start for the Rev. Hookem’s cottage. Ham appears to lead in the race for the altar but his license proves to be of the canine variety and Bud steps to the front waving a regular license. At this critical juncture, the unscrupulous broker takes a hand in the farce and proclaims himself the lawful husband of the girl. Ham and Bud exchange kicks and return to their bachelor quarters, sadder but wiser.
