Fire used to be a natural part of the cycle of life in forests across the Western US, but fire suppression has led to the unnatural build up of fuels, often creating dangerous conditions prone to mega-fires. A project in Ashland, OR has been working to reduce the build up of fuels in their watershed, the primary source of water for the community, and now seeks to use fire to maintain those forests. |
