Details:

Jan Fridegård (1897-1968), the son of an agricultural laborer that despite all odds became one of Sweden’s greatest and most respected writers. “The lost 10 years” began at the First World War (1914), when he also lost his beloved younger sister in an early death. Because of a simple theft in the military he was sentenced to prison. After that the Landlord called him “the worst man in the county” and he was not welcome home to visit his homestead. These hard years gave a “never ending source” and he wrote the trilogy “Lars Hard” that caused an extreme reaction in the press. He was proud that he could be a spokesman for many whom lived hard and died in silence - without the possibility to say their word. Declaring to a surprised audience that he was a spiritualist he told them that he was inspired by signals from “the other side” when he wrote the Viking Epic Land of Wooden Gods.
