Details:

The carbon dioxide/climate change/sea level rise issue is definitely the dominant environmental issue of 2016. The IPCC and its publications, through to environmental organizations and on to governments, all embrace this ‘settled science’ and brook no interference with the accepted theories. This film, written, compiled and directed by an accomplished professional geologist, looks at the science behind the earth’s history and translates this through todays projections from a layman’s perspective. This film looks at the historical geological record for a number of parameters including carbon dioxide levels, temperature (and historic temperatures in relation to CO2 content), and sea level variations on various continents. A compilation of famous movie clips is interspersed throughout the documentary to emphasize points and also for relevant comic relief. Perhaps the main thrust of the film, completely contrary to the many disastrous computer projections that we are inundated with, is that not only are sea levels rising completely independent of human activity (historical records demonstrate a slow inexorable rise for the past 20,000 years), but that all indications now—from Antarctica—is that we are very shortly to enter into a sea level drop! This demonstrates the issues with our reliance on computers for forward modelling and projection. The film has very straightforward conclusions, a powerful message, and simple beautiful title song from an American artist.
