Details:

This French adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s story ‘The Very Old Folk’ opens with a modern-day archaeological excavation. An ancient manuscript is discovered that proves to be a record made by a Roman commander in ancient Gaul. It relates that most of the local tribes had been subjugated but that every year the countryside is ravaged by a terrible, savage tribe of hill people who kidnap people to use them in their obscene rituals. The commander leads a unit of his soldiers out to go and crush these barbarous hill-folk. As the Romans leave behind civilization to plunge into the dark depths of the forest they begin to become more nervous. Their fear proves well founded as they approach the dark hills where the tribe practice their bloody rituals.
