In 2003 Detroit, Michigan was the host city of one of the most important dance music events in the world. A free three day event attended by a million people each year integrating musical and visual artistry, creativity, and state-of-the-art technology. Over seventy world renowned acts perform on the multiple stages in the heart of the Motor City each Memorial Day weekend. The Movement Festival dedicates each year to showcasing the world’s most important and influential musical artists and cutting edge talent while maintaining allegiance to the history of true urban music. In the coarse of filming his feature film, 313 TECHNO, Detroit filmmaker Marco S. Aluia captures the passion, struggles and triumph of local Detroit artists in regaining control of Detroit’s Electronic Music Festival, known world-wide as Movement.
