Boy’s Night Out a dramedy about a not-so-typical Friday night out Written/Directed/Produced by J. Anthony Smith Friday nights in the big city bring out the best and worst in people. Parties, alcohol, scantily-clad women and sex-starved men crowd many clubs across the city. Many are in search of that quick hook-up or just want to see and be seen. This mindset is not always shared by everyone. Some club patrons are in search of a release from their issues and problems and some are out just to have fun. This is where our story begins. From the first frame, we are introduced to an older Trey. He is poised to take his company public on the New York Stock Exchange. He says that all of his accomplishments could have been wiped out if it wasn’t for his experience one Friday Night. We flashback to younger Trey as a hard-head, gang banger wannabe. He has a good heart but is full of anger. He is playing video games with CAL and Big Tony. It is here that Trey starts his journey down the wrong path. We are then introduced to the other guys TJ and Andre. These are your typical college guys who enjoy having fun and playing basketball. They have known each other for years so the camaraderie is genuine. They are intelligent, handsome young men of African American descent. After putting in some serious study time and play time, it is time to go meet up with the fourth member of the boys. We are then introduced to Dee, who is the unspoken leader of the group and the reason for their journey. As they pick up Dee from work, he advises them that an attractive female coworker has invited them to a new “Club” in town. By all accounts this seems to be a typical Friday night on the town. As our guys focus on their journey to this Club, they face a few obstacles along the way. They eventually make it to the “Club” and what they find there is life changing. And what happens next is nothing short of a miracle! This story is an urgent look at how our youth can change the course of their lives with one decision. When a person is given an opportunity to change, it gives you a new direction in life. Like Boys N Tha Hood, this film is built on life in a large city but it provides a more positive look without the overt and overused sex and violence.
