Finally got a chance to see this film and I really enjoyed it. I attempted 5 times to see it in theaters and each time there were not enough times/locations to go. It seemed like even the theaters were not really supporting it from the first week. How could so many people around us openly hate it so much if no one showed went to see it? There was only a really awful TS version on all the sites for over a month. All that to say, I think the backlash of people angry at Barbie is what affected the turnout to this film more than anything because, so many people left that film angry that they were loaded for bear when this one came out.
I think the key to liking this is remembering the vibe of the latest MCU movies, esoecially Spidermen movies, plus Hawkeye. They are more pitched towards a younger MCU audience and they are passing the torch as mentors to the new generation of heroes. They are all starting younger than when we first got Hulk, Ironman and Capt. America. All the MCU since Thor Love and Thunder have had a more fun & campy vibe from different directors. This was refreshing after the Nick Fury spycraft-focused series that was dark and twisty and Loki. I would watch this again, and watch it with the kids before I ever pay to see another Ant Man movie. we all have different tastes, thankfully there’s enough in the MCU for all of us.
