I can’t believe HBO decided to cancel show when it was praised by fans and critics. I actually just saw that the showrunners were excited to start 2nd season and even had plans of what the new United States would look like. They really screwed themselves because I can totally see another platform picking this up and it be a bigger hit.
The showruners had a book to go on with in the first season. Casey Bloys, Chief Content Officer of HBO and HBO Max said the writers wanted to go off and take some time to go and figure out without a book what direction to go with the characters, what’s the journey we want to go on. In reality, HBO didn’t want to repeat the same mistake they made with Game of Thrones after the producers ran out of materials (Books) to work with also, so they waited for a while and eventually pulled the plug on this.
Hopefully some other network might pick this up later.
