I think the episode got something right when the ne’er-do-well son mended his relationship with his estranged mom, the cop, prior to her death. That seemed real and made story-progressing sense after their cave misadventure earlier. I liked it.
BUT the entire season still feels as if it might have been condensed into a mere 2-hour first episode. The cliffhanger isn’t fun. That’s just a subjective opinion.
I’m still in. The weak links are still Izzy & Josh. I hope they take some acting classes between now and the second season.
