The Talisman

I have to give this one credit. :ost a lot of interest in King on account of some of his later work, as well as some of the things he has said recently, but a lot of his early work was really good, and this book is a prime example of that. Think this is one of his very best books actually. I just hope that when it comes out they took the time and effort to do it justice, as more often then not his work is never really translated to the screen well.

They don’t take the time they need to pay the appropriate attention to detail I think, or give the time needed to tell his stories right. They tend to try and cram too much into too short a time period, and they miss way too much. Hoping they don’t do that with this, just take the time needed to tell the story the way it should be told. They do that, and get the right actors, and this will turn out really well…

I agree. The thing i don’t like with adaptations, is when the writers think they know better then the author and cram in something else when it can take away from the original story. The Mist is a short story, that didn’t end the way it did in the movie. Altho you can argue that this is an example of when changing an ending ‘works’ but the short story left it open ended unlike the movie. So instead of giving us ideas of what else can happen, we just assume its over, the humans prevail end of story. His book Thinner, is another example of writers changing the ending for whatever reason. The ending in the book is dark, and so is the movies ending. But the book delivers a clear message where the movie is just, haha its a dark movie, people are evil blah blah.

I agree that they need to take their time. Stop changing shit and give us the original vision. I would hate to see what they would do to an adaptation of Amnesia if they just let them butcher that book. So many things can go wrong if they change even one thing.
