you are right, it’s so crappy is doesn’t even qualify as a remake, other then the same story as the first brought up to todays times and circumstances…oh wait, that’s a crappy remake
JadeEnigma's comments
It’s based on a play, also written by the author of the original novel upon which the Bogart movie was based. That movie and this one are not related other than that. So no, it’s not a remake. Crappy or otherwise.
not only does Hollyweird seldom seem to get a idea for an original movie, their remakes are horrible
The part where old flash is standing there and he sees two other dudes l ones kneeling in chains.
what’s that from? I’ve seen that before somewhere? It’s at 1:26
Oh hey kurt, thanks for the heads up about the other place! Just created my profile there.
Dean’s show ran about a decade, so there’s lots of shows we’re missing. Our aunt had about 30 shows scattered from 1968 to 1973, and we posted all that we had. Wish we had them all, but we don’t. 30 shows is the equivalent of one season. These days no one works anymore, so 30 shows is the equivalent of a few seasons by contemporary standards.
What we do have that isn’t posted are 10 volumes of The Best Of Dean Martin, but there’s no pages provided to post those to.
Last week we also posted the 2002 Martin & Lewis movie as well as 2 Dean Martin docs, The King Of Cool 2021 as well as The One And Only 2002.
Sexy movie. Peter Coyote and Nick Mancuso were in their prime.
Agreed. An ‘80’s classic I have watched more than a few times. Made me really want to be an artist!
Right? I also am frustrated by the way they give black & gay people waaaay more power, freedom and authority than what was true to this time in history. It’s a slap in the face for anyone who has fought for equality.
A little news: It has been reported that production has started in Toronto. But no release date and that will take a while since production has just started……deep sigh……..
I get local news from Toronto because I grew up there, and Michelle Yeo has been frequenting many restaurants and bakeries as she is in the city “working on a Star Trek Project” it is said :-)
I loved the book, but I do wish they had chosen someone else for the lead in this adaptation. James Franco brings it down about 3 stars I would otherwise have given it had he not been in it.
Oh my gosh, I don’t think I have ever seen the very first episode, but boy was I a fan back in the day. Links! Yay!
oh thats very sweet :)
It’s much more engaging than walls of barely legible gobbledygook filled with too many punction marks and impossible to decipher emoji strings, I tell you what.
Looks promising.
Great cast, and we really enjoyed it. Great premise executed perfectly.
yes i know popper, i was thinking something more along the lines of pluralism i guess (which to arendt incorporates the paradox perhaps). Somehow i think the paradox can be superseded, like holding two truths at once. practically i stop at baldwin, but prefer toni morrison, however that might translate. i guess its my desire not to have the threat of violence underlying power relations but that is the reality i guess. i need toni morrison here …:(
i guess its to rise above somehow, which might be a form of dominance in itself
No, the Intolerance Paradox is an actual philosophical treatise that says a tolerant society cannot tolerate intolerance and must be intolerant of it less it be destroyed from within. Ergo, the paradox.
i just thought this episode particularly might offer up another way.. like it goes to but then just uses violence as the mediating factor again…. as opposed to.. yeah i mean how do you reckon with a nazi i dont know.. i dont have that answer
I gotta tell ya, this is really bad. Wow. Stinking poo bad. They seemed to have phoned this one in.
forcing peace
Kirk Cameron is a wuss. Give this a try. I loved it. I was riveted.
Andrew Garfield is more than just Spiderman!
Yeah, I didn’t notice him on the cast list before. That’s encouraging.
Whaaaat?
Tell me it isn’t like one of those Kirk Cameron movies with a religious agenda…
In 2020, word was that a reboot/third season was in the works. Soderberg was developing the new season/series along with director Barry Jenkins and André Holland, who played Dr. Algernon Edwards in the original series. Since then, though, not much has be heard about this new take on “The Knick,” which is often a sign that things are kaput. But it seems like this project is still alive! Indeed, according to André Holland, “The Knick” season 3 will definitely happen. At some point. Holland revealed that he and Barry Jenkins “talked a couple of nights ago [about the new season] and he’s still in lockstep with creating a season 3.
I don’t care what anyone says, you’re my hero. Flex for me, big boy.
We watched this last night because my partner is a big fan of stand-up and I wanted to surprise her with something. It was okay, but not wildly funny. Not sure why, because Whitney is spot on in her wry comments and delivery. She holds nothing back. Maybe it was just our mindset at the time.
It’s not a southern thing. The residential local neighborhood mailbox trucks and jeeps have the steering on the right side. So they can stick mail in the box directly on the right side of the street without getting out. This has been the standard in the US for I don’t know, since ticky tacky little box house neighborhoods existed.
It’s pretty cool cause you can buy the retired jeeps and trucks for dirt cheap. I want to make a micro camper out of a mail truck. My friends in high school would buy them for their punk bands to move gear,
My gosh what an absolute classic movie. I first watched this when I was about Hermie’s age, and I felt the feels he felt…feels…too.
3.5. The only thing that saved this from mediocrity was Guy Pearce.
I’m sure it happened after Jamie was killed. You know, grief sex. ;)
Of all the movies that premiered last year I think I enjoyed this one the most. Its story constantly surprised me as did the cinematography. I look forward to seeing new details on every re-watch.
I don’t understand why no one likes this movie. I thought it was pretty cool except it is a bit of a propaganda piece for the climate change agenda.
Oh Sylvia Kristel, the thoughts I would have of you when I was young.
LOL, Whaat? Swooning?? Oh no this is honest panting like a h dog.. Not a review. I wish i would be allowed to review some for sure.. And tell you. Damn it! Oohhh Mama ❤️💥💋
I never would have thought, back when I watched this show but Lee Pace is 6’5’’, K Chenoweth is 4’11 1/2’’. They musta had a ton of boxes (or holes) scattered all over the sets.
@Jade, I also don’t get all the hate for this movie or for Brie Larson. I think some people have an issue with her activism and politics. I don’t even know what they are, but I’ve heard/read that. All I ask is that the actors in a film/TV show do what they are paid to do and entertain and try to do a good job of it. I don’t care what they do in their personal life as long as they aren’t purposely hurting others or aren’t being giant dbags because of their fame. She got shite panned in Captain Marvel as well and I thought that was a good movie and she was fine in it and pulled it off. This movie was fine. Was it great like Winter Soldier or Infinity War or Endgame? No, it wasn’t on that level, but it wasn’t bad. A bad movie is WW84. Damn my dame did that movie SUCK. Talk about an atomic dumpster fire of a film. That film makes this film look like an Oscar winning masterpiece. I’m not going to bash Gal Gadot for that. The writers, director, and producers owe us all an apology for that waste of time. At least this film is entertaining.
it’s a bit dishonest to claim that the concept works in the english private schools, and by a bit, i mean entirely. the english public school system - by design - breeds and enables sociopaths, whilst feeding them with victims they can practice on. it’s designed to feed people into government jobs to ensure that the same sociopaths have people they can domineer in adult life, too.
If she asked me to marry her i would probably say yes. Or maybe, kiss my hand..
I’m going to rewatch Captain Marvel and Ms Marvel 1st. Viewing day planned.
DVD quality copy means time for a second watch of this wonderful movie!
