Dexter: New Blood (2021) S1 E10

Wow, wasn’t expecting that ending at all. Dexter should be immortal, not human lol. Sad the series is over.

Fargo (2014) S5 E1
yellow_rose1 4 points 4 months ago.

it is an amazing season. I began watching it after Christmas and I am totally binging on it. Juno is incredible, well everyone is. Finally something that is holding my attention with complete passion that grows with every episode.

augusts1 3 points 4 months ago.

Great to know. I just watched the 2nd epi & it was just as riveting. All the characters are intriguing due to the acting. There’s also some unexpected humor too sprinkled throughout. Despite knowing all the pieces (or thinking that I do, we’ll see) the storytelling really keeps you in suspense. There’s always surprises right around the corner in the Fargo universe though.

What We Do in the Shadows: Interviews with Some Vampires (2005)

Didn’t know there was a short the movie was based on so this was interesting to watch. Nothing exceptional but if you’re a fan of the film & the series seeing this is good to see the origin.

All of Us Are Dead (2022) S1 E1
alexisbits 2 points 2 years ago.

The premise isn’t necessarily new, but this first episode still manages to bring something new to the zombie subgenre. I look forward to seeing where it goes.

augusts1 3 points 2 years ago*.

I enjoyed it because it’s from a different culture than the US which gave it a fresh feel for an old subgenre of teen zombie movies but nothing new that I saw.

Soylent Green (1973)
PonderThis 2 points 2 years ago.

I was in jr high when this movie came out but for some reason I’ve never watched it. Maybe because I was never a fan of Edward G. Robinson and I certainly didn’t like Charlton Heston! The one actor who is still alive is Taylor-Young and I honestly know nothing about her. I have next week off, so maybe I’ll make time to watch this movie and put aside my dislike of Heston.

augusts1 3 points 2 years ago.

It’s definitely a classic sci-fi movie worth seeing at least once since it’s influence has permeated pop culture since it came out. I recall it being on TV regularly back when I was a kid then so I’ve seen it several times.

Thank you for commenting. I ‘d seen the trailer for this before it came out & then didn’t hear a thing about it.

The Boulet Brothers' Dragula (2016)
augusts1 3 points 2 years ago*.

Thank you uploaders for getting these links up so quickly for Season 4 epi 1! This premiere is what Dragula should have been from the start. The production value is finally top notch. They must have acquired a new editor since the editing is a huge improvement over the previous seasons. Either that or the previous editor took some advice or lessons from someone who knows about editing. They’re finally giving the queens’ runway looks more screen time. It’s still not enough imo. The Boulet’s need to spend less time on the ludicrous ‘skits’ & their own looks though. An excellent start to the new season.

Legendary (2020) S3 E1
alexisbits 3 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I was so happy to hear this show was back (thanks augusts1)! And with a live audience! So many sparkly masks. I was surprised Megan Thee Stallion was gone. But Kiki seems like a fun new addition.

augusts1 3 points 2 years ago.

YVW! Yea the live audience makes a huge difference in the energy of the show.

Megan’s popularity grew a lot since she filmed season 2. I like Kiki’s energy though.

Well I don’t believe you will be disappointed. This is almost his magnum opus, I think.

Wow, what a riveting piece of cinema. Although this CAM can be a bit loud at the soundtrack, and muffled at the dialog, it truly draws the viewer in. This is not a drama. It’s a psychological thriller. Brilliant.

augusts1 3 points 3 months ago.

I don’t agree. It very much is a drama. What are psychological thrillers after all if not filled with plenty of drama? The drama is what makes psychological thrillers what they are, exciting, enthralling & intriguing which this was, very much so.

The White Lotus (2021)
augusts1 3 points 2 years ago.

Excellent series. It’s definitely a dark dramedy focusing on skewering the privileged wealthy class. First epi takes a bit to gain it’s stride in the 1st half but picks up in the last half. The actors all do an amazing job. 2nd epi really takes off. Definitely not for everyone though since it focuses more on character development & revealing their lives than plot driven.

There are plenty of humorous moments so far, but all played very seriously while addressing real issues. Lots of subtext & commentary on wealth & class as the characters enjoy or not enjoy life at an upscale resort.

The Endless (2018)
augusts1 2 points 2 years ago.

Finally saw this after many years of hearing about it & Resolution. So excellent. I was mesmerized by the phenomenal cast, the storyline, production design & FX. As others have said, watch Resolution first since they are companion movies both directed by the two leads in this movie. Both will definitely make you think & mess w/your mind which I always enjoy.

Yep Judy Davis is AMAZING ! Good movie but not as good as “We need to talk about Kevin” !

WNTTA Kevin is stellar. Tilda Swinton’s performance was amazing.

The Truman Show (1998)
jew_squirrel 7 points 3 years ago*.

A fascinating and mind-bending classic!! Jim Carrey is incredible!! So is the hot babe he chases after!! I sometimes wonder if I’m a secret A-list star of a tv show because I’m obviously such an interesting and cool person and some really strange things have happened to me over the course of my glorious, sex-soaked life!! Like the other day I had a squirrel “walk” up to me and start to glitch out, and I coulda sworn it spoke to me!! Summing up: Great movie!! Recommeded for people who like to wonder and think about the meaning of it all!!

Have you ever watched a Korean show? You can view elsewhere without dubbing and watch it with subtitles which is my preferred method.

augusts1 2 points 2 years ago.

Yes, I typically enjoy Korean movies but the lead character in this just over acts like crazy. I wouldn’t enjoy this even w/subs but the dubbing just makes it worse.

Anyone who can watch more than two episodes of this show and tell me that they’re not at least slightly in love with LaKeith Stanfield is a damn liar.

I fell for him before this show in Straight Outta Compton & Selma. His laid back demeanor is so cool.

Addams Family Reunion (1998)
alexisbits 2 points 2 years ago.

I adored Carolyn Jones as Morticia. Though I’ve enjoyed every version of “The Addams Family”, whether animated or live scripted. Each version brings it’s own take on a classic.

augusts1 2 points 2 years ago.

Loved Carolyn Jones as Morticia. She was perfect & a goddess. I think Elvira based her persona partially on her, I’m willing to bet.

Orlando (1992)
augusts1 2 points 2 years ago.

Beautiful & odd film starring Tilda Swinton based on the book by Virginia Woolf which I have not read. I recall when this came out but it was not available where I lived so I didn’t see it & subsequently forgot about it till I ran across it on this site currently. Tilda is great as always but the movie I’m not so sure about since there are several major plot points that are unexplained. I might just read the book now.

Zombie Roadkill (2010) S1 E1

The chunky little squirrel was so cute. And even when it took an eye, it was still adorable. I don’t think I’d wanna be chased by a zombie skunk, though.

What? That sounds ridiculous, I’m in! LOL

The Boulet Brothers' Dragula (2016) S4 E7
alexisbits 2 points 2 years ago.

Great episode. And I loved seeing the special guest judge.

Yes love Ray (he’s so hot in the series Ash Vs. Evil Dead), he had some really constructive criticism for the dolls.

The Captain and Tennille (1976)
augusts1 2 points 2 years ago.

LOL I hate to admit it but I recall seeing this when it originally came out. I don’t remember if my fanily & me watched the entire run cause I don’t think my dad enyjoed it much & he controlled the TV. Tony Tennille was so happy it was downright sickening yet infectious bahahaha.

Love this show.So much sarcasm & tongue in cheek humor w/lots of female & black empowerment.Get it Ms. Ziwe!

Evil (2019)
CleoHarper 2 points 2 years ago.

I totally agree. If it weren’t for the dark humor of this show, and total irreverence, this show would just blend into the background. It’s because of these somewhat unique characteristics in this current social atmosphere that this show stands out. It is this very combination that makes the show entirely watchable. Like Buffy for adults. And that’s not such a bad thing.

augusts1 2 points 2 years ago.

Ok CleoHarper, good to know about it blending into the background if not for the dark humor & irreverence.

I only marginally liked Buffy(the show)& had a partner that loved it so I watched it w/him. Probably wouldn’t have otherwise really.

American Horror Stories (2021) S2 E7
alexisbits 2 points 1 year ago.

I actually liked the Drive-in one. But I love Adrienne Barbeau. From “The Fog” to “Creepshow” to “AJ and the Queen” to “Tales of Halloween”, she never disappoints.

augusts1 2 points 1 year ago.

Yea she was the best part of that episode.

Interview with the Vampire (2022) S1 E1
alexisbits 2 points 1 year ago.

It IS a bit slowly paced. But well done. There was a lot of attention to detail, at times a bit TOO much. But I think that as the story develops, it’s going to be good. I like how they modernize it, while giving a nod to the original interview. As a long time fan of The Vampire Chronicles, I’m glad to see them bring new life to Anne’s characters. But if the pace remains as it is, it won’t hold enough interest to get a second season.

augusts1 2 points 1 year ago.

I forgot to reply to this. Cool you are liking this as a fan of the original & books. I am too. Agreed there was maybe a bit too much detail in that one scene but at least it wasn’t visual lol.

Loot (2022)
augusts1 2 points 1 year ago.

Watched the pilot & loved it. Maya Rudolph is so excellent. It’s about time she starred in her own show w/top billing. The cast is great too. I found myself laughing quite a bit at the various scenarios. The writing is definitely on point. It’s also beautifully photographed w/stunning sets/locations. Looking forward to watching more of this comic gem.

This is an amazingly good movie. I would have never bothered to find it had not it been for those who still provide “legal” links while those of of us that love this site and stay waiting for the legal outcome. So thank you. Anyone looking for a very good movie, consider watching this.

augusts1 2 points 2 years ago.

Connelly & Mackie are both excellent actors, so I’m not surprised it’s good. It looks great from the trailer. I’ve put it in my ‘to watch’ list. Thanks!

“Why did it have to be snakes?”

I just watched the pilot & it’s pretty damn funny, albeit deals w/some serious themes. But hey, real life often is like that, serious & funny. Craig Robinson is hilarious as is the rest of the cast.

Lamb (2021)
augusts1 2 points 1 year ago.

Quite excellent but not a film for the masses due to it being VERY slow paced. The movie takes it’s time developing the characters & letting the world they live in unfold at it’s own pace. The two actors playing the coupled farmers (Noomi Rapace of The Girl w/the Dragon Tattoo movies is one & the other I’d not seen before) give very nuanced, natural performances.

The movie revolves around a central mystery that the childless farm couple discovers through their daily life of maintaining their sheep & the farm they live on. This is a horror film but it is far from the stereotypical Hollywood horror movies. It does not rely on usual horror conventions at all so don’t go in expecting them. I do not recommend this for horror fans who are into blood/gore since there is little of those here. If you like nice neat answers to the questions raised in this you will be sorely let down since it raises more questions than it answers. I have no problem w/that since I love movies that get me thinking about the premise of the film & the ideas it brings up. If you’re into art films then you may very well enjoy this.

Interview with the Vampire (2022) S1 E1

Interesting 1st epi. It’s slowly paced & done well all around, unfortunately I was too distracted by life stuff. I need to wait & watch another epi before I make any criticisms.

I’m surprised I never heard of this movie, as soon as I started the trailer and heard the bass to My Sharona it went straight to my “to watch” list. I love me a good 80s based movie with the music I grew up on (pop metal death metal and of course punk etc.).

augusts1 2 points 7 months ago.

Surprised I’ve not heard of it too since Richard Linklater the director did the Sunrise/Sunset trilogy, Boyhood & Dazed & Confused among many other films. This looks good!

Addams Family Reunion (1998)
augusts1 2 points 2 years ago.

Total trash of a movie. Curry & Hannah were ok but the rest of the cast was so over the top to be obnoxious. I love a good comedy but this had few laughs for me. It had a very vaudevillian feel to where most things were overacted to the point of trying too hard. It just did not work. The cgi was awful too, especially w/the dog. Very sad since the 1st two movies are classics. I hope the newest animated versions that came out a couple of years ago are better than this.
