I wanted to see what happened at the end but it cuts off.

Dodi 1 points 3 years ago.

Seriously? You’re supposed to see what happens next in your head, like the ending of “The Sopranos”. lol

The Good Fight (2017)
VacantField42 10 points 3 years ago.

This series acknowledges everything that needs fixed in our world, with a wink. It’s funny and shocking, yet humble and honest. This season is a MUST WATCH. I highly recommend The Good Fight.

Dodi 4 points 3 years ago.

Okay, starting this today, thanks Vacant. :)

This is one of my #1 favorite series. 10 out of 10. Please watch it if you haven’t seen it yet and watch it again if you have. I plan to.

OK, will check it out.

Totally agree @Dodi! Archie Punjabi’s acting + role on the The Good Wife, was a great ride. Are you watching The Good Fight? Thoughts?

As for this, I Know This Much…, I missed reading the book, and started the show last week. It was rough to watch, and I paused on going further, because I am debating whether to save all episodes + binge, or watch weekly. How does this show rank against your faves? I’m looking to compare the overall quality of the series to something of the same caliber (subject matter doesn’t need to match).

Dodi 0 points 4 years ago*.

Have not finished “The Good Wife”. VacanField. “The Good Fight” has great reviews and I will look see. “I Know This Much” is tough to watch, but I find this above average in entertainment and meaning. Hard to think of anything off the bat to compare it to. Just glad I lucked into this. Right?

Archie Panjabi plays a cool shrink. I love love loved her in “The Good Wife”.

Rosie O’Donnell nails the psyche hospital warden. Love the way she reacts to toxic male acting out. Firm and a tad understated humor lol. Ruffalo keeps on rocking in this playbook.

The Sopranos (1999) S1 E2
Canuckian 1 points 4 years ago.

I know i am 20 yrs late to the party, but the only reason I have never watched this yet is because of how disappointing the ending supposedly was….and for me, knowing that the ending is NOT good, that it leaves too many unanswered questions etc. BEFORE i even watch a show is normally a deal breaker..but so few shows had the fan base as The Sopranos which is why the supposed bad ending was so upsetting at the time..hell, i remember it being all over the news back in the day lol..anyways, i have been looking for something a little older to watch and get into lately and this show came across my watch list so i figured what the hell…so, as a first time Soprano watcher, is there anything i need to know before i get more than 2 episodes in? lol

Dodi 0 points 4 years ago.

“because of how disappointing the ending supposedly was….and for me, knowing that the ending is NOT good”

Hi Canuckian, no that is fake news. The ending is the best ever, took the cake.

One of the production companies, A Band Apart, was founded by Quentin Tarantino and was supposedly defunct by 2006 but the company name is attached to quite a few movies made after that year.
And, quite a few famous names are attached to the company.

Sorry, more info than you were wondering about.

The Sopranos (1999)

Gilded lilies snap their stems and end up face down in the dirt. I believe I’ll be avoiding any prequels. Some things are best just left alone.
That being said, I only got around to this one last year. And like you, not sure what took me so long.

Dodi 0 points 4 years ago.

I read his son is playing him. Tough act to follow, but it could be done. Look at “Better Call Saul”.

The Sopranos (1999)
somniloquist 1 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Between the first and fifth centuries of the common era, Rome had nearly 100 rulers. And it’s said that only 4 of them died of natural causes. Emperors don’t die. Emperors are murdered.
Tony Soprano is an emperor, or at least he’d like to be. He’s acquired all the necessary attributes: palatial villa, clever wife, genetic successors, a Praetorian Guard (misfits though they may be). He has money, power, ambition, and a taste for both banter and blood.
Over the course of six impeccable seasons watch a man nurture and grow his own psychopathy until everyone he knows has either been encompassed by it or has succumbed to it. I say ‘knows’ and not ‘loves’ because Soprano does not possess the capacity for an emotion as genuine as that. Everything is negotiable. Every table can turn. Sure, he can play the part of a human who loves, who is loyal and maybe even kind. But if you outlive your usefulness, you’re as fair a game as a clay skeet in the sky. And he’ll care about that much for you when he’s broken you.
Follow the emperor. Respect the emperor. Commend him if he ever shows you mercy, but never ever forget what he is.

Dodi 1 points 4 years ago.

A psychopathic, malignant-narcissist murderer. lol An antihero you still like. Good writing.

That last shot took the cake. Had to get out some hankies. Finally got to watch this during shutdown, and no wonder I used to see articles about it all over the place. Hope the prequel is just as solid.

The Good Wife (2009) S1 E17

The characters make a big thing out of them sleeping in separate bed rooms, fine for the narrative, but in fact, each partner having their own bedroom from the get go, if you can afford it, is one of the variables for a long marriage.

Just the mere idea of doing this to dogs, prepping them for underground dog fights, and that it goes on even in Budapest, makes me want to puke. But it’s a great story, and I am rooting for Lili and Hagen.

I agree health and healing my ass…Paltrow is a fake, a fraud, where was she when her staff went to Jamaica to get drugged up like lab monkeys, people are stupid for supporting her or even watching this garbage of a show. She put out a candle that she say smells like her vagina Really sold out immediately, sold for 75$, who ever paid that kind a of money for her candle is a total moron, she is laughing at all of us, she probably tells her friends that people are stupid, and they are for buying any product she puts her name on or any product any celebrity endorses. We have to stop giving these celebs so much power..

Gwyneth Paltrow is re-inventing stupid and rapidly becoming the world spokesperson for generating hybridised, fancy sounding names for complete scams. This series should be viewed much the way “The Room” should be. Pure unintentional black comedy. Gwyneth Paltrow sucks the credibility out of any alternative therapy. The lack of any scientific support combined with hoaky names and claims are further de-credited with her extreme price index. Case in point: “Paper Crane Apothecary Psychic Vampire Repellant ($28)”… mmmhhhmmm go on, go on, go on.

Troop Zero (2020)
Dodi 1 points 4 years ago.

This is fantastic. The story, all the characters are super, and over the top entertainment. Charlie Shotwell is a child actor going far, so is McKenna Grace. Viola Davis as the nanny rocked,so did Jim Gaffigan as a shuffling trailer trash attorney, often in his baggy underwear with his little dog under one arm and files in the other hand. Can’t leave out Alison Janney who playes the prudish school marm in rural Georgia in the 70’s to a T. lol

Ad Astra (2019)
Rob Apples 4 points 4 years ago.

Well. This is very 2001ey. The visuals are amazing but the pace just can’t seem to gain any locomotion. The main characters are horribly robotic with little if any emotion. That said, the story is intriguing and I found myself eager to find out what’s waiting at the end. If you arent of fan of 2001 then you probably won’t like this. But if you want to see a pretty good space flick and don’t mind a slow burn then give this a shot.

The survival issues were exciting and kept me on the edge of my seat.

Strangled (2016)
Dodi -3 points 4 years ago*.

Watch any Hungarian movie, hailing from Budapest, but I found this to be a disappointment. It’s too much like torture porn. The camera didn’t have to linger on the psycho fondling dead women’s breasts, so it seemed exploitative. Neither did one get any sense of the dire political straights at the time when Hungary was basically run by the Soviet KGB. Many political prisoners were tortured and executed at the prison court yard, yet there was no sense of the oppression that was going on in people’s every day lives, no sense of an allusion from what the serial murderer was getting away with, to what the Soviets were getting away with. The nefarious, toxic environment (that lead to the failed Hungarian revolution of 1956 that has just taken place behind the scenes) is only hinted at when one character gets run over as he is riding his bike at the end.
