Just realized this was the last episode of the season well that sucks! This is to good of a show not to be picked up by some network or streaming service.

Jhigh03 2 points 3 years ago.

I just realized this is the final show of the series, what a bummer, it has become one of my favorites. I had read earlier this year that Cinemax was gonna shift their focus away from producing these types of narative driven action shows, which Jett also fell victim to. I had hopped Warrior would survive somehow but as of now it doesn’t appear so.

The Gloaming (2020)
PonderThis 1 points 3 years ago.

This is not a typical crime drama to say the least. I don’t think it could be labeled supernatural. A few of the convicts from Great Britian that were sent to Australia brought with them a different type of religion. Over the centuries it became a type of folklore that the locals talked about. A few still practice this religion on the island of Tasmania. Not sure if this drama is one of but if there is another season not sure what direction it will go. Odd, but intriguing and if you’re into mystical stuff, give it a go.

yes it should at least be considered a cult classic at this point. I have a feeling Michael Bay may have used his sizeable sway in Hollywood to have this movie panned. Her and Bay had a rather public falling out which lead to her being fired/written out of the transformers franchise. This was released just 3 months after Dark of the Moon, and he has always struck me as that type of dude. Check out this movie nexthttps://www.primewire.li/movie/1006245-watch-all-the-boys-love-mandy-lane. I always associate these two flicks and enjoyed both equally.

So the mountains , forests and plains in Montana have New York style sewers crisscrossing under the soil? Aight, but I draw the line at ease the State Po-Po pulled that fish hook outa his cheek(that barb doesn’t come out the same way it went in). Also I’m pretty sure that hook was way too big to be used in fly fishing, even though it was tied to a fly lure. This show plays loose and fast with reality all for the sake of, mediocre storytelling. At this point it wouldn’t be a total shocker is a certain actor shows back up with a wild tale. Ima keep watching though since honestly I’m only here for Lagertha. :)

And I’ve enjoyed reading most of back and forth on some of the pages that have had their comments disabled. Which is what brought me to this one in the first place. New here, so I don’t know anyone really other than a tiny fraction of folk. Don’t know Somn, for example. But I do know the train of thought is not that anyone’s a redneck. The train of thought is that based on your hateful closed-minded point of view, that if you view comedy that agrees with you, then perhaps these two particular people are likely to agree with your perspective; not that you’re a redneck. There are plenty of liberal rednecks too by the way. Plenty.

…it’s no insult to Dunham or anyone who likes him… not really… It’s just a matter of pointing someone in the direction of people with whom they might most likely agree with… and why not? Isn’t that what you want? An echo chamber of agreement?

So while you ponder that, why don’t you point out a single instance in history where an Israeli rounded up millions of russians or germans & arbitrarily put them to death based on a political, racial or religious dogmatic hatred? You can also add to that very short list, one single russian comedian who’s known & beloved worldwide for their humor, like say… Jerry Lewis, The 3 Stooges, Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner, Amy Schumer, Sarah Silverman, Jerry Seinfeld, Brad Garrett, Richard Lewis, Gilbert Gottfreid, Jeff Ross, Jeff Garlin, Marty Feldman, Carol Kane, Kevin Pollack, Gene Wilder, Laraine Newman, The Marx Brothers- Groucho, Chico, Harpo, Marc Maron, TJ Miller, Jack Benny, Morgan Murphy, etc. etc. etc.

Like all those with a brain disorder, you only chimed in to be negative, to insult, to expose your own racism & hatred for your fellow human beings. No one personally attacked you. This is a comedy film, made by & starring a very real human being who’s full of flaws. Some of those flaws may be his own political beliefs. But this isn’t a review of him, but a single film he made. If it enrages you that he exists & makes films, then don’t watch them. Watch what you like & say positive things about those things. But if you have racial hatred for other human beings, take a breathe & step away. There’s no shame in being silent.

As Mark Twain said:

"It is better to be thought a fool than to open one's mouth & remove all doubt."

Yes this for sure was a filler episode, and 100 times better than any of the procedurals pumped out on a weekly basis in the US. A lot of people seemed to wish the first season had been longer, and while I was sad to see it end in what felt like a quick fashion, More of these types of episodes is what there is to look forward too if the season were to be stretched any longer. I think they may even be pushing it with 8 episodes and we may get one more filler this season. It seems the BBC has found a sweet spot with most of their limited series clocking in at 6 episode and telling one story with no filler.

The Murder of Fred Hampton (1972)
Saucer-People 7 points 3 years ago*.

Betrayed and drugged by an FBI informer before being assassinated by the police while he slept, Fred Hampton was the one Black Panther who fit FBI director Hoover’s fear of the appearance of a ‘black messiah’ - someone who could unite all the races and saw class not racism as the key organising principle of revolution with his concept of the Rainbow Coalition that embraced grassroots working class groups like the Young Patriots, composed of poor displaced white youth.
Unfortunately the prevailing historical view of the Black Panthers is of gun-toting macho male revolutionaries even though the majority of the membership was young black women and I can’t help but feel that the vision of Fred Hampton was lost because of this distorted view of the Black Panthers.
One of the most essential documents of the radical seventies, the film and the message of Fred Hampton is more needed than ever.

Great, informative review. I probably would have never given this film a second look if not for your words. You are spot on about the way The Black Panther Party is perceived. They really just should have made this show a teenage Judith spinoff. Heck, the girl who plays Judith on TWD: Original Recipe is just a year younger than Alexa Mansour’s CHARACTER on this show (Alexa is 24 irl but her character is a teenager. 14 or 15. Cailey Fleming who plays Judith on Original Recipe TWD is 13 irl)

Jhigh03 0 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Judith is, at least to me, far more interesting than all these kids combined, neither male seems really interested in being there nor are they really following a girl like is typically a motivator in situations like these. And would make more sense to me than just to take pics, seems like he’s more of a male version of Al from FTWD. Also, I’m not sure how much more I can stand from Iris, her speeches don’t feel very convincing or sincere. I’m not sure if it’s her acting or the writing but probably a combination of both.

I am for sure losing interest the more I watch. I was Into it in the beginig because I was digging the mythos and backstoey they had going whith the foundation set by the other shows, but now it seems to have devolved into exactly what others here have stated, junior horror. Really not even horror, as its more just suspense. And in my opinion , not very good suspense since I don’t feel as if any of these characters are in danger of being killed off. And that was what made TWD Proper feel so diffrent and great. Same as GOT. Also I’m wondering how much longer it can go without introducing a Big Bad, since that is what really drives the other two series each season, otherwise this is really just “Tom Sawyer x Benji”, and geared for the same demographic. I expect more from AMC, I can see this Mon. through Fri. on CW if i wanted too.

Fear the Walking Dead (2015)
Jhigh03 2 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

to me Madison leaving( I hesitate to say killed cause their has always been some doubt since it was handled off screen and there has been recent talk of estereggs hinting at her return) was when the show really started to take a bad turn. She and Stand complemented each other so well. He could be very selfish at times and she could be extremly bossy and go into situations with a one travk mind, yet they seemed to even each other out and made the decisions they made feel like the best ones. Also they spent so much time and actual screen time and plotlines to develop her son and give him a redemption arc that we could root for, only to knock him off in one of the most unsatisfing and ways ever, for both shows. Bringing Morgan on just felt completly pointless since they had other characters with almost the same backstory who fans of this show, over the OG WD, were more invested in. for the last 2 maybe 3 seasons it feels like the storyline is nonexistent and the formula of the show is to have a part of the group get themselves into trouble, then have the rest of the group swoop in to rescue them, All the while getting themselves into an even harier situation. the whole time the seasons Big Bad(who hasn’t felt particulary Big or Bad not to mention menacing since The unhinged brother was killed) is following/stalking them all the while taunting and just plan giving that horrible *Bad Guy Speech) every chance they get. Also the whole thing with filming the stories of the survivors, which always got them in trouble while feeling like those horrible “fetch quests” in RPG video games, was one of the most boring plotlines ever. That said, what even happened to the drive and setermination the chick had to see that mission of hers through. In the end that storyline is a mirror of the main problem of this whole branch of TWD Universe, half baked plotlines and half developed characters that end up going nowhere or just being abandoned altogether.

yeah I can see where your coming from, and may even partialy agree execpt the boys are in control of their bodies and resposible for their actions. “She had what was comming to her” is a statment that is made with the intintion to shift blame and direct it back at the victim.I can only wonder how you would feel if you happened to pass out from drinking, while at your best friends house. Only to wake up still drunk, being felt up and/or molested by your bestie’s cousin. Let’s say it’s a dude(just assuming your straight, cause a gay guy would be a little more sympathetic, I think), but it could be a girl cousin. would you still as though the blame is on you, the victim, cause you sshould have known better, what did you think would happen after ytou passed out drunk. Then just continue on with life having an,” Oh well, lesson learned” attitude. I very much doubt it.

Jhigh03 0 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

you know, I would agree with you to a point. but put everything aside and each person isa responsible for their own disqusting actions. Being how close the group was before this, I’m sure the true danger of the messeges her actions were sending never crossed her mind.”No way her best friends, and guy who was like her brother would do that , to her”. That said, I’m not sure if it was the directors intention to have the scene appear so completely caotic. I say that because I really belive that the guys had no clue she wanted them to stop. She wasn’t very vocal in the scene, and given her aparent nature and her comments in the begining,”Wait, wait a minute”. It did seem to me that she was more shy about the spectecale of it all rather than what was being done to her. also, I’m sure, were it to go to court the judge would say,”well did you youngmen ask her if it was ok?” Which Is easy to ask in hindsight but we all know how situations like that start and asking if your partner would “like a pillow” are not some thing easily fit into the convorsation. It was a terrible situation that was handled even worse in the aftermath, I know that the boys are splely responsible, and should be held that way, for their own actions.

Since as soon as I read this I had no problem rattling off at least % recent movies or Tv shows that featured women in the role of head science offiucer or Commander. Most featuring them directly in charge of men. You know it’s actually impossible for every demographic to be under represented in movies and media. Still it seems like every Majority and minority feels like they are, and while some groups do have reason to feel this way some times personal issues detract from the larger picture.
