Our problem with this isn’t that it’s a lift from The Happening, it’s that Julia is in it. This is a chick who drove her sister to suicide then had the nerve to say to her family that it had to happen & she was happy that it happened. Like Mel Gibson’s antisemitism, there’s just no coming back from that. No amount of words will make it right. Some of these celebrities have to be left behind & she’s one of them.

It’s so shocking it definitely causes a jolt of disbelief. Personally could care less about celebrity personals, but it’s different if it’s severe.
You prob don’t remember talking to me like a lunatic in a previous post and flaming me in chat. Now your talking to me like I’m one of your glitter fiends, this is disconcerting to me. But, I was informed that I face consequences for my previous comment so I’m removing it.
I do not remember that, I’m afraid. But I do apologise, and I mean that sincerely. I was not a good person in the past, and I said some horrible things, but not remembering it does not clear me of the responsibility for it. I really am sorry.
I am used to seeing Matt Damon in more action movies. This one is slow and more reflective, with undertones of desperation and hopelessness. To me, Matt Damon played the script exactly right. It just is not the kind of movie that brings up ones adrenaline or made me high having watched it. I don
t think any awards will be one for it. But with no great highs, heroes or excitement, I think it is much closer to real life that most movies. A solid three stars for me, mainly for Mr. Damon nailing the character.
We looked long & hard to find material that would refute police findings & legal conclusions, yet found none.
We see the world through very different eyes. Mine see a land of plenty where half a million people are homeless and an estimated 2K of them die every year just from exposure to the elements. A country where 50K die every year due to lack of access to adequate health care or life-saving medications. If we can’t take care of our most vulnerable when times aren’t that hard what hope is there that we would do better in a post-apocalyptic world?
I can’t disagree with you there, but my point was that we would not as a species become animalistic and “everyone for themselves” in that situation, as every apocalyptic film seems to say we would. Most of the world doesn’t have these same issues. The majority of the world is doing well that way even now, and most countries do not have the problems you list. My point still stands.
Faith will leave one ill-prepared and vulnerable if that isn’t the case. Doubt is the best course and if I am wrong then I am pleasantly surprised, but still far better equipped for a worst case scenario. :)
You will be pleasantly surprised, I’m sure. We have proven it time and time again. The worst of us may rise for a short time, may make a lot of noise and stomping of the feet, but the best of us always rises higher and buries them.
Thank you- saves time! No idea on Earth why anyone would thumbs down this, but I give a thumbs up. Boo to that thumb.
Ditto for your comment from me. And thanks to Al for reminding me of this adaption!
We watched this the other day and were totally invested within just a few minutes. Benecio Del Toro carries this, and very well. Highly recommended for an intriguing and surprising neo-noir mystery.
IKR??
drops glitter in the shape of a confused raised eyebrow emoji from her hands as she…raises an eyebrow in confusion
I can’t believe Douglas Henshall left this show. It’s outrageous!!!
Who’s going to fill the Jimmy Perez-sized hole? He’s now appearing in this series:

Good movie. David Harbour was good, too.
Yeah, he is in most things he does so that would be enough to find me considering a “car movie” again.
Yep. Everyone in this show takes the wrong path, it seems. No sense at all.
And Arthur! He puts the “dumb” in Dumnonia, with all his lousy choices and decisions! Raises eyebrows and creates enemies everywhere. SMH at the way his bullheadedness is driving the ship of state right into the rocks here. And let’s not even mention the ghastly ætheling waiting in the wings…Arthur has been warned….
I had been considering this, but you make a very strong argument against it, thank you!
Yeah, meh. I suppose a lot of old actors like to feel relevant at least one more time in their lives. They should have let Rachael Carpani keep her Aussie accent. The best thing going for this movie is they kept Paul Hogan’s dialogue at a minimum. Oh, and we got to see Jim Jefferies for a few seconds.
If you ever read any of Poe’s Art you would know that there was no Raven in Usher.. or Nevermore in Usher or all the other symbols and cliches that they stole from Poe. I understand its “based on” ..but do the artist some topical justice while you’re milking his Art to come up with concepts for such a nonsensical script.
I tend to look at any movie based on a book to be a stand-alone work, and try to see it as separate and distinct from the original work of creativity it was inspired by. I once saw a performance of Romeo and Juliet set in the rural farmlands of Saskatchewan, with the Montagues as anglophones and the Capulets as Francophones (who spoke only French). It was wonderful. This show reminds me somewhat of that, as well as the show “Dickensian” which, as you have here, I tried very hard not to like. I am a big Dickens fan. But, alas, I loved it.
I like the inclusion of some of Poe’s other works, and thought of it as a celebration of those works. I can certainly understand why you feel differently, and there are times I have found it very difficult to seperate book from film, but I wanted to offer an alternate perspective.
Geeks, Canada (eh), UFOs. What’s not to love. Too many of you critics on this site, using big words strung together in a sentence(that I have to google to understand what the hell you typed)with no appreciation for the actual free movies and TV shows we have here. Let the down voting begin..(eh) :€~
More glitter for you!
Loads her glitter cannon with little maple leaf shaped sparklies of joy
Who’s this ‘we’ you’re deciding to represent? Have you heard every word everyone ever spoke to another person? No? Didn’t think so. I’ve heard the line before. Not only in the classic sitcoms but knowing it from this first. Don’t project your ignorance onto others and then play the victim when you’re corrected by those who know more.
No thanks, and worst :) x
C’mon folks, let’s keep it all civil, and pertinent to the film. Casting aspersions on your fellow users is against the rules and can get you in trouble.
Incels are nothing but a bunch of pathetic losers who couldn’t get laid in a whorehouse with a fist full of 100 dollar bills
I am a left-wing liberal snowflake socialist lesbian, and I am right there with you on this one.
high five
Sorry about the glitter. Hard to wash off.
The whole series is literally about swapping drool, it’s hilarious :)

I loved Paul Hogan in Crocodile Dundee. This was ok for a last hurrah movie.
It’s musical theatre!

Begins November 21st. The delightful Juno Temple, of Ted Lasso, will be playing Dot and in addition to Hamm and Leigh, there will be Black Mirror’s David Rysdahl, Kids in the Hall vet Dave Foley, and Stranger Things’ Joe Keery.
Well this killed it for me. He never woulda got to France on a Dingy
Wes Anderson + stop motion animation + Clooney as a Fox + Wes himself as Weasel + Bill Murray as a Badger = a good time. Right up there with giving wet willies to your little brother.
I never had a little brother, so I can only imagine. I did love this film, though!
What, no love for irony?
Oh, yes, I love irony very much, and I did recognise it. But I love fairy glitter too, and rainbows, and gayly spreading joy with all those things
pumps her glitter canon and narrows her eyes meaningly
There’s lots of easy ways to connect your downloading device to your TV for free or cheap, so you don’t have the same problem in the future. Google.
I connect my laptop to my TV with an HDMI cable, works like a charm.
So this film has been around for 12 years and I only now just watched it. I had seen it ‘pop up’ before on this site and others and for whatever reason just never pulled the trigger on it. I have to say that I am very glad that I did. Solid cast with loads of great songs and just a really fun film to take in. Give it a go if you haven’t yet.
A brilliant film that checks all the boxes: thought-provoking, dramatic, and gosh darn funny. thanks for commenting so it popped back up on my radar! perfect for a Friday afternoon off.
Tim Blake Nelson’s directorial debut is based on his own play with the same name. Starring Hal Holbrook, Margo Martindale, Nick Stahl, Mary Kay Place, Kevin Anderson, and Martha Plimpton in what I feel is the best performance of her career. It’s a bleak and brutal tale told in a small Oklahoma town.
I live in Oklahoma. The town doesn’t have to be small here to be bleak and brutal, trust me.
After a recent discussion with someone on the Rise of Skywalker page, I thought I would revisit Rogue One, and boy, is it good.
Fair warning girl, they’re Guttenberg’s breasts.
Really excited for this. Marvels first adult rated project and not a single wisecrack in the trailer.
I must say, the audio and video quality is quite good for a cam, and I really did enjoy the movie overall. I found it very entertaining, and the twistiness, often lambasted in online reviews for this film, was really not that bad at all. It did remind me of the television series in many ways. It is less a horror, though, than it is an adaption of a fantasy or even perhaps a little sci fi-ish. But yeah, really had fun with this one.
what the hell? i feel like im watching a movie at the end and have skipped the middle -just when i thought i understood what is happening all this happens and im more lost than ever -who was the guy taht stole visions yellow stone and why did he steal it so many questions- does anyone fully comprehend this episode? im not a marvel fan-so have i missed something ?
So maybe a spoiler tag on this? some of us haven’t seen the episode yet.
Yeah, never fails. Every damn time, you put one damn link up for something, and it’s worthless. fucking site is just amazing. Never fails to fuck some body up when they want to watch something.
Link worked just fine for me. Sorry you’re having trouble. :-(
