I’d heard about this show before, but never took the time to watch it. Now that I have, I can say that I will keep with it.

Body in the Snow: The Murder of Joanna Yeates (2021) S1 E2
BellaMia1 2 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

This was an interesting documentary. Although in my opinion, it could’ve been an hour episode instead of two+. I was annoyed though, that the judge didn’t want to admit some evidence that showed the accused behavior. That man is sick, period. Good riddance.

Expert Witness (2021) S1 E1

That was very informative, when it comes to forensic science and crimes. Just the kind of thing I like. Good watch.

Nope. That didn’t do it for me. I couldn’t wait to see what would happened next, but the ending was disappointing to me.

Mapleworth Murders (2020) S1 E1
BellaMia1 2 points 3 years ago.

I made it to 10mins before I had to put a stop to this crap. The acting alone, was beyond terrible. I thought this was going to be BBC-like detective show, and it’s far from it. Don’t waste your time.

Caught in the Net (2022) S2 E1
BellaMia1 2 points 20 days ago. (Contains Spoilers)

For the life of me, I don’t understand what goes on in a jury’s mind, sometimes. This creature shot 3 people and should’ve been found guilty of those crimes, not just one. The jury failed to render full justice, in this case. Situations like this make you lose faith in the justice system. And in jury’s capability to make the right decision. (sigh).

Forensic Files II (2020) S1 E2

Interesting episode. I like to know about new technology, in the field of forensic.

The Twilight Zone (2002) S1 E1
BellaMia1 2 points 2 years ago.

This storyline somehow, felt unfinished to me. I feel like more could’ve been told about that neighborhood, and its way of life. It’s funny to me though, for I do not remember this series back in the days. I must’ve boycotted it, just like I did with the newer version from Jordan Peele. I’ll keep watching, but I sure hope that it gets better.

Atomic Blonde (2017)
BellaMia1 2 points 5 years ago.

I can’t say that I was impressed. I’ve seen movies from the 30s, 40s and 50s that had a better plot. This movie was generic, that story has been told countless of times, better too. This was pretty much just a vehicle, to display Charlize Theron’s physical prowess. And it was nice to see a woman kicking asses. But the fight scenes weren’t enough to carry this movie. Like Bourne or Bond, this needed a good story to tell, to stand out from other movies of the genre. Also, this was way too long for me. 30mins could’ve been taken out easy. So in all for me, this was a 4.5/10 stars.

Welcome to the Blumhouse (2020) S2020 E1
BellaMia1 2 points 3 years ago.

This story was too slow-paced for my liking. Personally, I would’ve liked to see more of the aftermath, and less focusing on the spoiled-rotten daughter. I actually had to fast-forward a couple of times, here and there. So for me, it could’ve been better.

Murder in the Heartland (2017) S1 E1
BellaMia1 2 points 2 years ago.

So much pain all around. Especially when it comes to a small city, where everybody knows everybody. I could feel the pain of her kids. It seeped through the screen. Good watch.

Twisted Killers (2022) S1 E1

Wow. This guy was something else. personally, I do not see why taxpayers have to sustain such monster, by keeping him in jail. Just get rid of him, he is no use to society anyways. I say, if his organs are healthy, make a donation of them to sickly individuals, who will be contributing members of society. Just saying.

Dirk Gently (2012)

This is a decent series. Good for a one-time watch.

Dishonored Lady (1947)
BellaMia1 2 points 4 years ago.

I enjoyed this movie, despite having seen it before. Although, I wanted to smack some sense into the lazy-thinking, fast-to-concluded police. Definitely worth watching.

The Assent (2020)
BellaMia1 1 points 4 years ago.

Man, this movie was FILLED with jump scares, with nothing to show for it. The actor playing the priest, was overacting so much, it was almost comical. Almost. basically, this movie was a dud, for the genre. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Prodigal Son (2019) S1 E1
BellaMia1 1 points 4 years ago*.

I’m lukewarm about this first episode. It’s not bad, but a couple of things annoyed me. The mother barely looks older than her “kids”. The flashbacks are unnecessary and annoying. The music is overpowering at times. Considering how serious the premise of the show is, I’m not sure lighthearted humor was a good idea. It would happen at awkward moments. But for me, Tom Payne is miscast. He overacts way too much, which take me out of the story. Certain things about his personality do not make sense. he comes across more like a joker, than someone I should take seriously, considering he’s a profiler. I will keep on watching for now, hoping that it will get better. Because this show has good bones. Michael Sheen is the best part of it all.

Annihilation (2018)
McShagan 5 points 4 years ago*.

If I may Bella, their behavior was erratic true they were all heavily flawed individuals and the Dr knew it she was a psychiatrist. They were chosen for that very reason. The Dr had no intention of anyone returning because her flaw was cancer she was dying and had nothing to lose. Also the movie was poorly edited as well because some important info was left out from the the final cut. The title of the movie for instance was the control word used to delete memories from the women should the need arise and apparently it did. Do you remember when they woke up with no memory of setting up camp and there had been more food eaten than they could account for. That code word Annihilation had be used but it had been cut from the movie. I loved the concept that a life form with no true concept of itself needing only to find a way to survive by altering the life around it until found a suitable form. There was no intellect there until it found it’s awareness in Oscar Isaac’s character. It had found awareness in the others but their flaws made them unsuitable because they were not on a course for a sustained existence. While Oscar was dealing with the pain of betrayal the alien found a means to survive through his love of Natalie Portmans character. He had no intentions of continuing the relationship with her so his form was copied with out the memory’s of her betrayal. Her flaw was her guilt for betraying him but her love for him was what drove her. So she was flawed but the flaw didn’t hamper the coupling in fact it was why she didn’t need to be replaced. So finding it’s best way to survive in them It ended all other attempts of finding a form to continue living. I thought it was pretty cool myself, even though the movie had it’s issues.

BellaMia1 1 points 4 years ago.

Point taken, McShagan. That was just MY opinion. And I respect your opinion. Good day.

Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955)

Creepshow (2019) S1 E1
BellaMia1 1 points 4 years ago*.

That show was a staple of my childhood, one of my favorite anthology of all time. So needless to say that I had very low expectation to this reboot, having been deeply disappointed with the “Twilight zone” reboot. Well, it was not bad at all. Unlike the aforementioned show, I sat through the whole episode. The first story, was just OK for me. More could’ve been done with the storyline. The second was the best, for me. I also appreciated the cartoon strip feel of the original show and comics. The effects were pretty good too. I just wish that the “The Creepshow Creep” talked, in-between stories. “My kiddies, hehehe”. So in all, I liked more than I thought I would. So for now, I keep watching it.

Brahms: The Boy II (2020)
BellaMia1 1 points 4 years ago*.

Cliches after cliches, in part 2 of these movies. You know, the incredulous husband who thinks his wife is losing her mind. And to make things worse in this case, every time he didn’t have the balls to stand up to his kid, he would make the mother the villain. “Mommy said this and that”. Not “we”. Nice. He really got on my nerve. When things started to get weird, he should’ve taken his family and leave. Then, we got the cliche land-keeper. Then, the cliche manor in England. Although it looked creepy indeed. I don’t understand why for the life of me, the director and writer went against their primary story from the first movie. Another bunch of geniuses who thought it a good idea to destroy their own creation. I don’t know why this movie was made. It was filled with jump scares, and it was not scary. And clearly, they left the door open for another sequel. Can’t see it going well.

Escape Room (2017)
BellaMia1 1 points 5 years ago.

Geez. I’d rather go back to the “Saw” franchise, than watch this crap again. Because that’s what this was, a rip-off of the aforementioned movie. With barely the same intensity and cleverness. We’re left with more questions. The “who” and “why” are not answered Besides, I didn’t care for any of the characters except Christen. Not that I cared much, but she was the less annoying of them all. In all, nothing memorable here.

Exam (2010)
BellaMia1 1 points 4 years ago.

Not a bad movie. Unfortunately, the characters are cliche, and barely bearable. The ending had an interesting twist to it. So I would say that it’s OK for a one-time watch, if one is bored. There are worse out there.

Inside No. 9 (2014) S1 E1
BellaMia1 1 points 4 years ago.

This was interesting. I wasn’t sure where the storyline was heading, for it looked so strange, with the many character’s behavior. The pieces to the puzzle came together, and everything took a sinister turn. I started with skepticism and low expectations, but I kept watching. And in the end, this wasn’t bad at all. I will keep watching to see where this series leads. Interesting first episode indeed.

From Beyond the Grave (1975)
BellaMia1 1 points 4 years ago.

I must say that I actually enjoyed this movie. Sure, the acting left to be desired sometimes, but I can let it pass because of the 70s, when it was made. It can be forgiven. Interestingly enough, this was better than most anthologies of the past years. Go figure. Worth watching.

The Dark Red (2020)
BellaMia1 1 points 4 years ago.

This should’ve been so much better, for the premise sounded good. Had they spent time delving more into the secret group and their story. They spent too much time dragging on about the sessions with the doctor, which took a good half of the movie. Things started to move only toward the movie, and it was predictable. Couldn’t help but think about “I spit on your grave”. As a matter of fact, the main actress looked a LOT like Sarah Butler. Not good. Characters development and more background on the group, should’ve been the way to go. But also, more should’ve been told about the “supernatural blood”. What we’re told is that she has it, they want it, and that’s it. It ends without more answers. And that’s unfortunate, for it started so well. OK if one has nothing to do.

American Monster (2016) S1 E1
BellaMia1 1 points 5 years ago.

A new show for me, that was OK. Will keep watching.

KFC (2012)
BellaMia1 1 points 4 years ago.

This hot mess was all over the place. It was purely a mishmash of gratuitous, violent , shock-and-awe scenes put together. But the story-line was so contrived, that I lost interest. Can’t recommend this one.

A-Symmetry (Short 2019) (2019)
BellaMia1 1 points 4 years ago*.

I gotta say, Scott Morrison Watson was creepy as hell in his role of Sebastian. He was intriguing and cold in his manners. With an inviting and kind face to boot, just to throw you off. Some of the criteria needed to make a good serial killer, a la Hannibal Lecter. With a good script and solid direction, this could make for a interesting full length movie. Worth a watch.

Becoming (2020)
BellaMia1 1 points 4 years ago.

This was not a bad movie. But it was slow-paced and lacked more about the possession. I appreciated seeing the boyfriend slowly losing himself to possession, that was interesting. But not enough is explained about the entity, except for the usual “it’s been around for centuries”. The survivors, how many of were they? That part was not explored. The character of Jason Patric was wasted, he should’ve been a bigger part of the story. His fast-sending death is cliche and easy. But the most ANNOYING to me, was the character of the girlfriend. I swear, sometimes I felt she had a double-personality. One minute she’s acting like a normal human would, adding up things that made no sense to her, so therefore being suspicious. The next scene, she’s acting like the things she saw were no biggies. Like the change in her bf were just fine. Then she seeks for answers, then acts as if she doesn’t know why she went to Kevin Lee for. Make up your mind! One minute she wants to tell the bf that she’s nesting, the next, she’s playing games of not telling. Which is it?! Her behavior contributed to cool things off for me. And the ending left to be desired. So what happens with him in that state? And how long can he stay in like that? Then what??? We don’t know. So for me, it was OK. But it could’ve been better yet.

Stephen King's It (1990)
BellaMia1 1 points 4 years ago.

This movie single-handedly made me HATE clowns. It literally traumatized me, when I was a kid. But the book was better. Hail the the author who on his own, has fced a whole generation up. And hail to Tim Curry too. A classic to watch.

Mary (2019)
BellaMia1 1 points 4 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

I am so disappointed in this movie. I really expected more, with an amazing actor like Gary Oldman. The script was so predictable, it made the whole thing boring. The characters were under-developed. They were as cliche as they come. The incredulous, dominating husband that takes a decision, potentially putting his family in danger. The submissive wife, that might be losing her mind or not. The possessed younger child, and the cliche angry teenager. Nope, haven’t seen that before. The continuous back and forth between the interrogation scenes and the actual events, were a tension killer. And the ending was anti-climactic. Too easy and lazy. What are you doing, Gary! A miss for me.

The Witch in the Window (2018)
BellaMia1 1 points 5 years ago.

Oh, I’m sorry. Fell asleep while watching this borefest. Wasn’t it supposed to be a horror movie? Riiight. Too much talking, not enough substance to keep our attention all the way through. And for me, the interaction between the father and his bratty and annoying son, did not feel natural. So was their reactions to strange events. Had to fast-forward to get to something. And even by then, I didn’t give a damn. There was nothing satisfying about the whole thing. Cannot recommend this turkey.

Brightburn (2019)
BellaMia1 0 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Every adult in this generic movie, was as dumb as a doorbell. From the everything-is-OK behavior of the parents with no regard to the consequences of their action of taking in Brandon, to the other adults in the town. Their actions were not logical, it just didn’t make sense. Especially the mother. Ugh. Sooo cliche. And of course, the director and writers, could’ve been bothered to answer a lot of unanswered question. I don’t know, like where does Brandon comes from? Why do all he does? Etc.. Nope, no answers. There was no character development, therefore one couldn’t attach to anyone. And a recurrent fact in this movie, no matter how bad things in town, nobody seemed to care to call the proper authorities. Basically, this is just Superman, with a nasty and murderous attitude. That’s it. Nothing more than that. Impressive, no the least bit. But I guess it will do if you’re really bored.

Apostle (2018)
BellaMia1 1 points 5 years ago.

There’s slow-pace and then, there’s slooow-pace. This movie was the later. And I don’t mind a slow-burner but this was too much for me. Can’t have a 2 hours and ten minutes movie, without anything to keep the audience’s attention throughout that length. I lost mine and never got it back. And I love Dan Stevens, he’s a good actor. Usually. But not here. He looked like he was constantly constipated and was overacting. And Michael Sheen, an amazing actor, was wasted here. I was bored and had to fast-forward a couple of times. And in the end, not much is know about the why things or the “creature”. A big disappointment for me, considering the quality of actors involved.

The Nun (2018)
BellaMia1 1 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Boy, was I looking forward to seeing this movie. With all the hype surrounding it, I couldn’t wait. 40mins in, and nothing was happening. I started to lose interest, and didn’t get it back. I expected a story about the nun and her origin. A story. What I got was constant slow walking toward danger, lots of screaming, and lots of jump scares. What a letdown. I am disappointed and pissed. Enough said.

Rendel: Dark Vengeance (2017)
BellaMia1 1 points 4 years ago.

I wanted to like this movie, but nah. Too many face-palms, too many scratching of the head, too many “wtf” moments, and not in a good way. The good things? Beautiful shots, some creepy atmosphere, at times. And the look of the “anti-hero”. Nice and slick. The bad? Everything else. The script sounded like it was written by someone with a limited vocabulary. Talking about cliche and just plain bad. The fight scenes should’ve been better choreographed. It looked amateurish, like in WWE wrestling. What else? Lack of character development, plenty of plotholes, too many subplots that went nowhere. And the dumbass antagonists, ALL OF THEM. I am sooo disappointed, for I read the hype about it, and it’s not the experience I imagined it would be. Wah, wah, wah!

Legendary (2020) S1 E1
BellaMia1 1 points 4 years ago.

OK. I don’t know what happened to my brain, for those 48mins. I just switched it off, and enjoyed the show. And I liked it. Maybe it’s the current dark times, but at the end of the episode, I was entertained. And for me, who is not much into reality shows, this was a feat. I will definitely keep watching.

An American Werewolf in London (1981)
BellaMia1 1 points 5 years ago.

I remember watching this movie s a kid, it scared the s**t out of me. Couldn’t go out at night, nor did I want to go out on a full moon for weeks after. Lol. Watching it again reminded of those chills. It was well done for the time, and it managed to blend comedy and horror well. Part 2 didn’t impressed me the least bit, it was borderline silly in the plot. I like the original better. Definitely worth watching, for horror fan who likes classic. Cuz this IS a classic, no doubt.

Mildred Pierce (2011)
BellaMia1 1 points 5 years ago.

Usually, I tend to stick to an original movie instead of a remake, because they tend to suck. But in THIS case, I was pleasantly surprised at how good this move was. You know you’re in for an amazing performance when Kate Winslet is involved. Same goes with Guy Pearce. Definitely worth watching.

Agatha Christie's Poirot (1989) S1 E4

Another good episode. Love Poirot.

I Who Have No One (Short 2019) (2019)

Oh boy. Yeah. Why? I don’t know what was the point. It didn’t do anything for me.

Crime Scene (2021) S1 E1
BellaMia1 1 points 2 years ago.

This episode was very repetitive to me. There’s no more information than what was said before, when the case went viral. If one followed the case, we know part of the mystery. Only a part.

Broadchurch (2013) S1 E8
BellaMia1 1 points 3 years ago.

Oh man. This last episode really got to me. Now, it takes a lot for a tv show to bring water to my eyes. But this one did. I binge-watched this season (something I do rarely), and I was not bored at all. Kudos to the people involved with this season. Can’t wait to see what season 2 will bring. Definitely worth a watch.

Sentient (Short 2014) (2014)
BellaMia1 1 points 2 years ago.

This short was generic, at best. It could’ve been more. Although, the idea behind it was not bad, just needed a better script.

The 39 Steps (1935)
BellaMia1 1 points 4 years ago.

Another good watch of a Hitchcock. Not one of his greatest, but a good watch nonetheless. The mood is lighter than most of his body of work. But the man knew how to keep one glued on the screen. STILL TODAY. Worth the viewing.

In Ice Cold Blood (2018) S1 E2
BellaMia1 1 points 2 years ago.

That was a gruesome and chilling story. How is a woman supposed to feel safe in this world, with predators like that? AND, with technology nowadays that tracks people with frightening accuracy. Make you shiver with fear.

Color Out of Space (2020)
BellaMia1 -3 points 4 years ago*.

Boy, that was painful. ANYTHING with Nicolas cage is painful, to begin with. Many things bothered me about this movie. Mainly the dialogue between the characters. It didn’t make sense, most of the time. There was no chemistry between cast-members. And Nicky C., it only got things worse. The lack of urgency from these people was dismal. I was shaking my head at times. Most of the time, these people are just standing around, gaping at one another. Those kids are absolutely useless. Behaviors are weird, there are many plotholes, etc. There was a story somewhere in this mess. But it got lost. And, at no time, did I feel spooked or creeped out. I expected something interesting, but I got a bad acid trip instead. I’ll stick to the original, H.P. Lovecraft.

Crooked House (2017)
BellaMia1 0 points 4 years ago*.

I enjoyed this movie. From one of my favorite all-time author. She’s a legend in literature. The cast was solid, with plenty of experience all around. I was not bored, which is a good thing. Didn’t expect the culprit to be who it ended up being. The thing that annoyed me a bit, was that I wish it had lasted just a little bit longer. To see the ramifications of the final scene. Beside that, worth the watch. Nice to see that Jeremy Iron’s talent, has trickled down to his son. He’s a cutie too.

Evil (2019) S1 E1
BellaMia1 0 points 4 years ago*.

I don’t know what happened. I genuinely got into the episode, and everything was fine. “Good start for a new show.”, I told myself. Considering that most show nowadays, barely interest me. But at the 20 mins mark, my bubble got busted. The minute the stupid devil opened his mouth, the whole thing fell apart for me. Really? Comedy, in that very scene? That is supposed to be creepy? My bubble deflated. And it happened AGAIN at the 27mins mark. And something else that killed it for me, the breaking of the 4th wall. Unnecessary and distracting. It’s like the creators didn’t know which way to go, with a messy result. Is it supernatural or is it comedy? Very few in the world of cinema, know how to blend the 2 seamlessly. Not the case here. And that bothered me, for I was enjoying the beginning of the episode. sigh. I’ll watch the next episode, see if there’s a change in my first impression. I’m so annoyed…how unfortunate.
