I really disliked that show and didn’t feel like anything was left out by me not finishing it. I’ve Seen CPT. Marvel but back when it came out and I watched both Ms. Marvel and Secret Invasion. CPT+MS. Marvel are really the only two I personally think you need to see. Because of secret Invasion and Hawkeye I kept questioning where in the timeline things were falling and it was distracting my attention at times

Not bad at all but I think the most obvious thing that people will notice is that it feels like a StarWars TV show not a Star Trek show. The directing, imagery, dialogue and overall pacing all feel like Star Wars. SO much so that I wondered if it was a StarWars show and they scrubbed all the references and resold it :) j/k

Finally got a chance to see this film and I really enjoyed it. I attempted 5 times to see it in theaters and each time there were not enough times/locations to go. It seemed like even the theaters were not really supporting it from the first week. How could so many people around us openly hate it so much if no one showed went to see it? There was only a really awful TS version on all the sites for over a month. All that to say, I think the backlash of people angry at Barbie is what affected the turnout to this film more than anything because, so many people left that film angry that they were loaded for bear when this one came out.

I think the key to liking this is remembering the vibe of the latest MCU movies, esoecially Spidermen movies, plus Hawkeye. They are more pitched towards a younger MCU audience and they are passing the torch as mentors to the new generation of heroes. They are all starting younger than when we first got Hulk, Ironman and Capt. America. All the MCU since Thor Love and Thunder have had a more fun & campy vibe from different directors. This was refreshing after the Nick Fury spycraft-focused series that was dark and twisty and Loki. I would watch this again, and watch it with the kids before I ever pay to see another Ant Man movie. we all have different tastes, thankfully there’s enough in the MCU for all of us.

he had his sister sterilized when she was young and without her consent. she can’t have a family of her own. he murdered a woman and covered it up. he’s a snake. awww poor Jamie.

DownrightDebonaire 7 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

i keep seeing everyone saying he had her sterilized. The way I read that scene was he was put in the position that his father should have handled but for whatever reason he had to. Beth was pregnant and he “handled it” I don’t recall any intentional maliciousness to have her sterilized which is purposeful and not an accident or repair that was needed during surgery.

As for his cowardice, He’s traumatized. physically and mentally abused for decades. I would expect nothing less. He literally flinches around Beth — she’s used him as a punching bag for years and in that time he hit back once. — I just don’t like physical abuse whether it comes form a woman or a man. I think Jamie is 100000% a result of his upbringing. He killed a reporter to protect himself and the family. Where did he learn that? The brand on the chest.

oh bizarre. Must be a southern thing. Up north we have these tiny rinky dink “trucks” with no bed that deliver the mail. That’s cool thanks!

DownrightDebonaire 6 points 3 months ago*.

It’s not a southern thing. The residential local neighborhood mailbox trucks and jeeps have the steering on the right side. So they can stick mail in the box directly on the right side of the street without getting out. This has been the standard in the US for I don’t know, since ticky tacky little box house neighborhoods existed.

It’s pretty cool cause you can buy the retired jeeps and trucks for dirt cheap. I want to make a micro camper out of a mail truck. My friends in high school would buy them for their punk bands to move gear,

DownrightDebonaire 4 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I cannot agree with you more. I am actually watching the first seasons and she is a horrible person to work with. Why did they keep the character so long and force this weird Gil relationship on the audience? It’s so awkward how Gil is a normal acting fun guy that everyone likes in the pilot and then by midway through the first season they age him up 15 years or so and make him this socially & emotionally detached person who is clueless. Sarah behaves like a petulant child.

If any of you have wondered how people confess to things they didn’t do, imagine that garbage bag conversation going on for 10hrs straight. That’s what an interrogation is like. If you’ve ever wondered how people in reality tv make those stupid/mean sound bites when they do the confessional type interviews, the story producers make them answer the same question over and over again until they say the mean thing they want. They won’t let them leave set until they get what they want. I truly felt her pain when she said “Can we go home now”

And after the burn, planets left the Federation because without warp-drive ships, every planet was too far away from every other planet. The Federation fell apart as planets simply could not interact with one another in person. Even if the Federation wanted to keep it together (which they did) there was no way for them to actually do so without having the ability to GO to those planets.

This was a really great episode tying in the elders. They were (I think )the grand kids of the generation in Residential School in Deer Lady’s episode and we usually follow their grandkids on the show (1st gen to be out of boarding school) . we get to see little easter eggs, like how boarding school is just rebranded as “Training School”. Those were “visions” of how he thought his life would be if he returned to England. He does not. His whole life up to that point had been about his own ambitions and desires, but with Mariko’s sacrifice he is changed, which you see when he offers up his own life to end the suffering of the villagers. With this gesture, we see that he has left his old self behind and has come to finally have some understanding of the Japanese and their customs. We see him surrender his old life and to honor his love for Mariko and her sacrifice, he chooses to serve Toranaga. At least, that’s what I got out of it.

I dunno. Doom Patrol was just weird and Titans is basically a CW drama. They’re alright but not good like this. This is extra AF, from the fruity intro to the after-credit scene, it goes hard and keeps you giggling. I just wonder how long they’ll be able to keep this energy up. I know John Cena can. He’s been popping up like Dio for years. But can D.C.?

DownrightDebonaire 4 points 2 years ago.

I agree Doom Patrol is weird AF but I’m loving Titans. It’s gritty and dark as hell for a show with a mixed age range. I wouldn’t compare it to CW stuff which blatantly uses teen sex appeal to get larger audiences. Riverdale, Legacies, Nancy Drew etc.

The comments on this show are out of left field. I’m guessing the Sophia Bush comments are about her coming out about abuse she dealt with on her two major shows - Chicago PD and One Tree hill. Jason Isaacs doesn’t have the best reputation so who knows what will come out next.

The show is good and premieres a lot of well known Canadian talent - the character’s mother, best friend and subordinates to name a few. In terms of vibes I will say this fills the void that Saving Hope left behind — if you’re familiar with Canadian family friendly medical dramas. It also has the drama of Transplant.

Side note~ I did not realize the Korean version -The Good Doctor was the premise that led to this show. I will go back and watch it. I ignored the Korean version because I thought it was the precursor to the American show The Good Doctor — which is an awful awful awful show where an actor does a really bad version of an autistic doctor by playing exactly the same way he did in Bates Motel. DownrightDebonaire 3 points 2 years ago.

This is closer to what I thought I would get with Suicide squad. I knew Harley Quinn would have a lot of her personality involved with the directing. But this pacing and the funny dialogue is what I thought I would get from the DC movies. Their TV shows (to me) are much better

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022) S2 E7
DownrightDebonaire 3 points 9 months ago.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this episode and it was executed well. Star Trek rarely does cross-over episodes. Spin-offs yes, absolutely but genuine cross-overs - no. They have had several episodes where one story leaked into another that was on air at the same time (watch TNG, DS9, Voy in stardate order not viewing order and you’ll see) but a genuine crossover that isn’t just a quick guest appearance was greatly appreciated by me. The details of the Lower Decks characters was great and I think it gives the folks who follow that series a chance to see their voice over actors are more than just voices while also getting to see how they would fit into the live action series.

I especially appreciate that they redid the opening title just for this episode. Very nice touch. I only wish that at the very end we could have seen Dawn (voice of Mariner’s mom) standing there with the rest of the crew waiting. As an acting veteran she deserved that tiny cameo. Oh well we can’t have it all.

Dark Winds (2022)
greyfur 2 points 8 months ago.

I have never watched Reservation Dogs, though I have considered it, it looks good, and a lot of people seem to like it. Actually just added a couple things to my list recently, and now and again I wind up adding a movie to my ‘plan to watch’ list, though I rarely ever get to sit down and watch a whole movie anymore, unless it’s something really good that I have been waiting for anymore. Just find that I don’t have the time anymore…

I have a lot of things on my plate at the moment that I am trying to accomplish at the moment, and some possible medical stuff (AGAIN!!!) that’s staring me in the face, so I guess that’s the price of outliving ones enemies….

Was giving some thought of trying once again of culling some stuff from the herd again, but thinking with the actor/writers strike, I might just hang onto what I have as we might not get a lot of new stuff for a while, and I can always backtrack and watch stuff as I get the chance, a little bit here and there, and maybe as I get the change a bit of a binge here and there.

Recently I have had the chance to give myself the time to binge a couple things that I thought were right good, and watch a couple shows as they came out, like ‘Warrior’, which was really well done, and never disappointed, but am going to have to buckle down now on some other things for a bit. Shows will still be here when I’m ready for them. Will go mark Reservation Dogs and give that a chance when I get the chance.

I remember there was one show, can’t remember the name of it, was all Native American, really liked it, but only got one season, got killed off as one of the people behind it got nailed for lying about her heritage I believe, and that get the show cancelled. Thought that was a really bad reason to screw everybody else in the production as everybody else did such a great job. Was a great show, and had a lot of potential.

Native American actors never have really been given the chance to get the opportunity to show just how good they can be at acting, or really show their stuff until recently, and truth be told, they can show some interesting stuff when given the right things to work with, and a bit of funding. Too bad this couldn’t have happened a little sooner.

I find the baby talk to be really off putting. Agreed, she talks like she’s 10 years old when in reality she’s 20! But that’s what happens when nepotism gives you a role you’re not prepared for. Talking like a baby to make up for lack of acting experience, This is her one and only role on IMDB.

No doubt, like a lot of things, if there was a book, or series of them, the reading of it was a lot better then the watching. Ok I finally watched all of this and from the very beginning it was giving Lost Girl + Wicked City vibes. I thought they were going to outright label her a succubus but I am glad they took a more creative route. The acting was much better than Wicked City but was still rooted in Black female witchcraft that is ancestor focused instead of lots of physical powers like other shows. I hope in the next season they explore other forms of witchcraft by building out the other women in the coven who have powers. I would also like to see the other covens in their area.

I think a lot of people do not want to admit they do not like the people who keep taking the Captain’s seat in Disco and WHY they don’t like those people. Instead they come up with reasons they claim make the show horrible but have been seen in every season. The show is too emotional (just admit you don’t like scenes where people talk about fitting in). Enterprise and Voyager were all about emotions and filled with weird meditation scenes. Oh the ship being sentient is weird? Yeah we never had computer problems on TNG (by the way my big gripe about Disco is that they did not use the same voice. that woman CARRIED Star trek in more ways than one and they could have used all her old footage to make a voice filter and keep using her voice as the ship). THere’s something on the show for everyone if it was so bad there wouldn’t be new spin-offs based on how well they are doing.
