Nobody (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 17 points 3 years ago.

It’s very much like John Wick which is a good thing. Just when they’re out the game people pull them back in. I like that they cast someone who looks nothing like the typical action star to do these more realistic fight scenes. You can tell the dedication Bob Odenkirk put into training and so much fun seeing Christopher Lloyd also playing a badass. It’s just a great action flick to sit back with some popcorn and enjoy.

Peacemaker (2022) S1 E8
Kid Kryptonite 16 points 2 years ago.

James Gunn can save DC if he made this D-list villain show so good. I’m a comic nerd and even I never heard of Peacemaker until The Suicide Squad, but now he’s turned him into a fan favorite like he did Guardians of the Galaxy. The action was great and that cameo at the end was like a cherry on top of a perfect season. Totally didn’t expect them to do that.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier (2021) S1 E6
Kid Kryptonite 14 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I mean, this is how you do a finale and show the progression of characters. I literally had tears in my eyes with the dialogue they gave Sam, a well deserved Captain America. Was a fun ride watching to this point and stay tuned for the after credit scene.

Lovecraft Country (2020)
Kid Kryptonite 9 points 3 years ago.

This series will go down as one of the best and most original horror shows out. The way they blended the supernatural within the 50s era touching on old and current racial events was expertly done. Each episode brings something new adding to the lore and making a jam packed finale. Jordan Peele has killed it at reinventing this genre.

Invincible (2021) S1 E8
Kid Kryptonite 12 points 3 years ago.

As a person who started reading the comics over 15 years ago, this was epic and the show did everything to make the story more relatable and graphic than the actual books. From the voice actors to the animation they went all out showing the strains of each characters personalities and enhancing it. If only you guys knew what is up for the coming seasons. I can’t wait to see Mark’s adventures through this!! I’m really geeked out because of how well they portrayed this series, so thanks to all involved for doing Invincible justice.

Chaos Walking (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 8 points 3 years ago.

Such a good cast with such a meh movie. It’s not bad but the story wasn’t worth these actors and undercut their talents. Never heard of the book but it was one of the many times Hollywood has flopped an adaption of one.

Free Guy (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 15 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

A fun watch and Ryan Reynolds has this perfect nice guy personality that makes anything he does funny. Major Deadpool energy here with a unique action comedy story. Only complaint is that some of the jokes didn’t land and even made me cringe, especially from the boss.

Don't Breathe 2 (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 10 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

The whole movie was made to redeem Norman from the first film and they tried too hard. Not as good as original, but the violence was brutal and it’s cool to see him in action. They upped the stakes with the antagonists making them a military trained meth gang instead of young bumbling home invaders. It was a stretch since they came fully prepared not even knowing Norman’s background. Plus, it was too convenient how they just so happened to find this girl. The twist made this more unbelievable and not going to spoil it, but they could’ve found a better way to continue their drug business. You even see how the people involved think it’s wrong. I mean, he did kinda redeem himself, but at the end of the day there’s no taking back his sick turkey basting ways. If anything it showed he’s too obsessed with being a father.

Jupiter's Legacy (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 10 points 3 years ago*.

Just finished watching whole season and it was good but pales in comparison to the many other superhero shows out. We’ve seen the whole superhero family dynamic before with similar characters of same powers. I really liked the action scenes and that it adds to comic with story opening up this Millarworld. A great watch for those who love this genre but nothing amazing we haven’t seen.

WandaVision (2021) S1 E9
Kid Kryptonite 10 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I knew to save my comment about this show till the last episode because I had so many theories being a comic nerd. I loved how they wrapped this up and set up Wanda to be in the next Doctor Strange with Monica being included with Captain Marvel. I still know that the twins will eventually be in Young Avengers so whatever adventures lead to that will be good to see them again as teens. That official costume had me on my feet, well done finale and loved all the sitcom era antics to get to this point.

Batman: Soul of the Dragon (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 7 points 3 years ago.

Such a fun early tale of Batman that highlights some of the lesser known comic characters. It was well done showing how badass Batman is while still not as seasoned as his comrades. The fight choreography was so impressive to watch. Another win for DC’s animated films.

Raya and the Last Dragon (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 7 points 3 years ago.

Looks like Disney finally has their official Asian warrior princess since Mulan technically isn’t a princess. I loved everything about this from the characters, story and world. Reminded me a lot of the cartoon Avatar which is always a good thing. Also bonus points for not having any musical numbers, I couldn’t imagine Awkwafina singing anyway.

Kate (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 7 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

This makes the 4th big budget female assassin movie that came out just this year. Gunpowder Milkshake, Black Widow, the Protege and now this. All have A-list actors with same revenge plot and protagonist having to deal with tragic past that led them to kill. The stereotypical tropes became painfully obvious seeing how they came out so close together. Having said that, I actually enjoyed this more than those I mentioned because of the setting, stylish cinematography and being a huge fan of Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Woody Harrelson. Very entertaining with great action, but nothing new.

Luca (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 7 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Really enjoyed the colorful animation and characters. It’s just a fun nice coming of age story around sea monsters. I will admit it’s not that original having a literal fish out of water theme making the moral of the story not as deep as other Pixar films. I’d still choose to watch this over a good amount of their other ones and while it didn’t pull my heartstrings it did leave me smiling at end.

Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020)
Kid Kryptonite 7 points 3 years ago*.

This was a satisfying sequel and end to this franchise that matched the same vibe as the first 2 Bill and Ted films. You really have to give it up for these actors that after 30 years they can come back and look as good as they do. Perfect stoner comedy to just sit back with some smoke and enjoy.

Archenemy (2020)
Kid Kryptonite 7 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I really liked the direction they took the story making it a more original superhero movie. Enjoyed the added animation in parts. The gritty setting and characters were portrayed well. It kept me guessing if what Max was saying was true, a delusion, a tweaked version of truth, or a complete lie. The ending was worth the answer.

Justice Society: World War II (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 7 points 3 years ago.

Another great DC animation starring Flash. Shows just how he’s important to the DC universe with his power. I only wish they showed more JSA members but it explained why they didn’t. Just good action and storytelling so you won’t be disappointed.

The Suicide Squad (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 15 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

So happy they released this early because I’ve been waiting for this sequel/reboot. They finally did Suicide Squad right and lived up to it’s name making it rated R. Had great chemistry between cast and surprisingly touching moments between all the action and humor. My favorites were King Shark and obviously Harley Quinn who Margot Robbie was born to play. DC needs to keep this same momentum going for future films.

The Flash (2014) S7 E18
Kid Kryptonite 6 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

There’s so many speedsters running around now that its become ridiculous, the only one missing was Kid Flash. It’s a shame because I would’ve loved to see his interaction with Impulse being his actual uncle unlike “Uncle” Jay. Though technically in comics Wally is a cousin and both XS and Impulse are Flash’s grandkids. They are a good replacement for their actual kids the Tornado Twins Don and Dawn. You’d think all the running action scenes would get tiring and then they surprise us with new lightning weapon abilities. Good season finale overall.

Underwater (2020)
Kid Kryptonite 6 points 3 years ago*.

Felt like they may have rushed into the action too soon so we don’t get to feel for these characters like we should. That’s my only complaint about this because I like the feel of an Aliens movie but underwater and bringing the bigger lore of Chtulu to life. Kristen Stewart’s personality vibes well with the horror despite people’s dislike of her acting. It’s a nice watch for anyone who likes this genre.

The Craft: Legacy (2020)
Kid Kryptonite 6 points 3 years ago.

Not a great sequel and really fell off in the last half. Everything else felt very CW like a grown person writing how they think teenagers would be like these days. I did appreciate the small cameo at the end though.

Werewolves Within (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 6 points 2 years ago.

I love a good whodunit and the story kept me guessing on the big mystery reveal. The leads are very likable and balanced out the crazy townspeople. Didn’t know the AT&T girl was this hot. It was a fun ride watching.

The King of Staten Island (2020)
Kid Kryptonite 6 points 3 years ago*.

What I’ve noticed with Judd Apatow is that his films fizzle out at the end not having a satisfying conclusion. You just lose interest thinking that it should’ve ended sooner instead of dragging the story. Still, I enjoyed this more than a lot of his other work because I can sympathize with characters. I’m friends with slackers like this or people dealing with issues that hinder personal growth. I appreciate the honesty and how they portrayed this alternate reality of Pete Davidson’s life.

Chucky (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 10 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I’m all in after watching first episode, such a great blend of the old Child’s Play in the new age. I also love that they’re delving into Chucky’s past using all the original cast. I wonder if they’ll show Glen and Glenda. This story so far is really interesting with great new characters also, can’t wait to see what the big finale is.

The New Mutants (2020)
Kid Kryptonite 8 points 3 years ago*.

This isn’t a bad movie by any means because it had great acting, story and special effects. I really appreciated that they kept the characters very comic accurate with the surprise of a certain partner. My problem is that it didn’t live up to hype and use the characters in more effective ways. Makes no sense why Dr. Reyes is the only security or faculty in the whole facility watching over these powerful mutants. The best parts were spoiled in trailers and halfway through the storyline became predictable. It’s still a good watch and better than some other X-Men films. I’m just happy it’s finally released but sad that since the Disney merger we don’t get to see these actors portray heroes to full potential.

Malignant (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 8 points 2 years ago.

Turned out to be better than expected. That twist really took me by surprise and stepped up the movie to another level. James Wan has shown he knows what he’s doing in horror with this unique killer.

Love and Monsters (2020)
Kid Kryptonite 8 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

This was a fun watch and happy it turned out to be deeper than a simple love story. Monsters were cool but I wish they explained this world better because the random robot threw me off on this being set in future. Boy the dog was the MVP in this movie.

Invincible (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 8 points 3 years ago.

I remember first reading the comic in high school and excited to see Invincible finally adapted on screen. The animation is incredible and the voice actors are top notch. It goes all out with the violence and really pulls you in with the characters. I can’t wait to see what they do with the storyline as there are some changes from comics but it works for the better here.

Masters of the Universe: Revelation (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 10 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I loved the animation, voice actors and story, but what killed this show was Kevin Smith and his horrible promotion of it. He lied about what it was about and loving show as a kid, going off on a rant and getting caught being dishonest. If they were upfront from start and Kevin Smith played a Silent Bob and kept quiet about early reviews it would’ve been better. You can see on rotten tomatoes that while critics love show the actual fans didn’t. It’s the go woke go broke with taking a series called He-Man and focusing it about the women with him barely there. They didn’t treat main character as he should and pissed off old fans. I’m not big on Masters of the Universe, so I can see both sides not caring too much about controversy. If you’re not a huge fan you will definitely enjoy.

Spell (2020)
Kid Kryptonite 5 points 3 years ago*.

This was a pleasant surprise to watch on Halloween because I never heard of this coming out. Love Omari Hardwick and Loretta Devine starring and kept me in suspense with the voodoo Misery theme.

Fear Street: Part Two - 1978 (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 5 points 2 years ago.

Great homage to those old camp slashers and I enjoyed this better than first. Huge fan of the 70s so that gave this extra points. Really enjoyed the actors, especially Ziggy’s character who I know from Stranger Things. She’s becoming a real scream queen and can’t wait to see her in other stuff.

Injustice (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 5 points 2 years ago.

I’ve been waiting to see this and as usual it’s a good DC animated movie, but could’ve been better. I played the video game and felt they could’ve added more to the story since a lot was left out. Should’ve been made to multiple movies to flesh it out. The animation style also bothered me with the bold shadow marks giving characters weird black bars on knuckles. Final pet peeve was not liking the voice actor for Superman who sounded too young and not as intimidating when he turned. It was a fun watch overall and had great action scenes.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond (2020)
Kid Kryptonite 7 points 3 years ago.

This show is trash and managed to turn a good horror drama franchise into a teen soap opera. Writing is terrible, should’ve focused on kids already being established survivors instead of these clueless characters leaving comfort of safe zone on illogical mission. It’s so frustrating to watch especially since you want to see them die to learn lesson.

Come Play (2020)
Kid Kryptonite 7 points 3 years ago*.

I always knew watching Spongebob was evil and corrupting kids!! Great horror came perfect time on Halloween night.

The Forever Purge (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 8 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

This has got to be my least favorite Purge because it lays its agenda down so thick exploiting America’s current social and political climate. The blatant racism throughout was exhausting to watch because we’ve already seen or been through enough of it. I did like that they changed the setting of Purge to Texas and that they flipped the script from trying to keep people from coming to US at border to fleeing from US at border. I also understand how they’re trying to expand this franchise, but honestly I’m Purged out of these movies. They even had a tv show and there’s really nothing but senseless madness to this story now that I’m not interested.

Old (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 8 points 2 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

Such a good premise and yet M. Night spoils the twist very early in the movie. We know the reason why these people were at beach and just have to watch as they devolve for an hour and a half later. It does have some gnarly scenes and I like the message it gives with the family at end. It was an interesting watch, but needed to hold cards closer to the chest next time for a better surprise.

Voyagers (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 8 points 3 years ago.

Point blank, I loved these actors in this theme and they played it off well. A lil Equilibrium and Lord of the Flies in space was entertaining to watch.

Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 9 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

This was better than expected and what fans expect from a battle between Godzilla and Kong. It really makes you root for Kong the whole time and is the best representation of him. I will say all of Millie Bobby Brown’s storyline felt super forced and not needed. They could’ve found a better way to reveal Apex secrets, but I get the added comedy and young fan appeal. If anything I’m curious to the next step of this Monsterverse and what kaiju will be the next big threat.

Tenet (2020)
Kid Kryptonite 6 points 3 years ago*.

Christopher Nolan never disappoints and you can see why he was pushing hard for this to be released in theatres over streaming during covid. The action was on another level and they made the tired trope of time travel unique. I would never have guessed the Protagonist was Denzel Washington’s son until you hear his voice and notice the strong similarities in acting style.

Freaky (2020)
Kid Kryptonite 6 points 3 years ago.

Just a fun horror comedy that utilizes the cast well. If you’re a Vince Vaughn fan you won’t be disappointed. I enjoyed the silly serial killer Freaky Friday story with all the action and kills.

Escape Room: Tournament of Champions (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 6 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I liked the first better because it made more sense how they got the contestants together. Unless they have some psychic powers there’s no way they could gather all past champions on their own free will on that exact train car in NYC. There’s so many things that could’ve gone wrong like them not chasing thief or getting caught up in all the people seconds before getting there. Also, how did they divide any innocent people from going in?? I also hated how stupid the main characters were with how they attempted to fight back in general. I just had to point out that illogical flaw because brain is running. I do like how they called back to the ending of first, but this whole organization to create death panic rooms is stupid and too convoluted. Fun to watch, but seriously unrealistic which throws me off.

Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 6 points 2 years ago*.

Been waiting for part 2 and didn’t disappoint. Gotta love seeing all of Batman’s rogues gallery in action. Used my own detective skills to deduce the mystery since it differed from comics. Another hit for DC animation and stay tuned for post credit scene.

Shameless (2011) S11 E12
Kid Kryptonite 6 points 3 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

Such a bittersweet ending to this great series and actually made me respect how realistic to life than a simple clean ending. I know we all wanted to see the queen Emma Rossum return but the flashbacks with Frank were enough. The fact that no one cared about his note and was said at end was the perfect time because Frank was shit and they should move on like the time they threw him over the bridge after he ruined Fiona’s wedding and thought he was dead after being in coma before and returning. I want the best for these characters and if you saw Hall of Shame with Frank you can believe they did better than this. Ultimately, Shameless got me through a time and relates a lot to my family in a lot of ways that always showed heart to the dirty deeds they did. Will be missed and better than the UK version, fight me about it!!!

The Protégé (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 8 points 2 years ago.

It’s your stereotypical girl assassin flick. Good actors with good action, but too generic with nothing new we haven’t seen. Reminds me of Atomic Blonde, Salt, Colombiana, Ava, etc… I just took this as a good sign that Michael Keaton has the moves to come back to play future Batman in the Flash movie.

Loki (2021) S1 E6
Kid Kryptonite 7 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

And there we have Kang the Conquerer like we predicted. Wonderful job Jonathan Majors portrayed this variant like we’ll see in the next Ant-Man film. I just love how all these MCU stuff combines.

Bel-Air (2022)
Kid Kryptonite 7 points 2 years ago.

I can actually appreciate that they made the sitcom into a drama because it makes so much sense. I kept quoting the theme song during entire first episode. I loved show as a kid and like how they interpreted the characters for new age, especially Geoffrey. It also helps Will Smith is involved with production so I’m down with this remake.

Copshop (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 7 points 2 years ago.

Well this was the most original assassin flick I’ve seen in awhile. Lots of fun watching this with friends and brought back my like for Gerard Butler. Great actors all around that pulled off crazy story. Pulls you in from start and takes you on a ride which I loved sitting through.

Thunder Force (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 7 points 3 years ago.

Ben Falcone can never write a role for his wife Melissa McCarthy without making her super annoying. The story was a mess and the best parts were only the action scenes. Octavia Spencer kept it top class with her acting and this was a fun role for her. The ridiculousness of these women playing superheroes makes it funny and enough to give a one time watch at least.

Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 7 points 3 years ago*.

Of course this was better since they added hours more filming and had years to completely rework all the scenes at the behest of fans. Think about the fact Zack Snyder was originally the director and they wasted 100’s of millions of dollars to replace him with Joss Whedon who made it shit only for them to waste more money to do the movie right with original director. Justice League deserved better than this sloppy production and it shows how terrible DC is at their live action. All over the place with all these shows and movies in different universes with bad writing. Even this current cinematic universe is in limbo but if this is the last time we see these actors together again for the league it was well done. Great to see Darkseid and them give Jared Leto’s Joker redemption.

Boss Level (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 7 points 3 years ago.

What a great hidden gem movie, deserves more recognition with the cast and awesome story. It was an action packed and hilarious take on this Groundhog Day concept from start to finish.
