That ending was very satisfying emotionally…kind of like when Gary was finally able to get cookies.

You don’t have to ever watch it, or actually research their stories…just sayin’ if you want a factual basis for reality it’s informative. I owe pretty much all of my critical thinking skills to that show as a starting point.

When I first saw it I was still a registered Republican, and I thought it was sheer crazy talk…no way could any of that stuff be true, and what the hell was with the constant telethon asking for donations? (Link TV was one of the few things left after cutting back on DirecTV after I was laid off in 2010)…. So, I continued to watch Fox and ABC news, while watching Democracy Now, and I researched three or four stories a day. Quickly I started wondering what the news looked like in other countries, so I started watching the daily news on BBC America, DW, France24, Al Jazeera America, some station from Palestine, and I think one other. Every day…for five and a half months everyday. And I started to learn what the “Talking Points” were coming from both Party’s AND the Administration.

My analysis? Every culture adds spin to the stories they tell while reporting the news. But, here in America, or the U.S.A., news groups all accept advertising dollars from the same pool of corporations, and I believe that while journalists believe and will tell you the first rule of journalism is, “Find the truth, report the truth,” however the real rule is, “Don’t, in any basic way, disrespect the product,” and, so, our understanding of the world suffers, both from incomplete reporting, and having no perspective (except that of the “money’d” interests.

Bill Gates doesn’t get a free pass from Amy Goodman, like the Koch brothers did from PBS. (And, he’s not evil, but he does have a record of bullying and emotionally abusing the People who worked for him at Microsoft, and making donations to non-profits he controls, but not exclusively)

But, disparage Juan Gonzales’s reporting chops, or his work with, “The Young Lords,” back in the sixties, or his work on, “Harvest of Empire.” I don’t read Amy Goodman’s columns, but if it weren’t for her show, and the alternate naratives it presents where would I get perspective? Every other TV and cable news source tells their stories the same tired way, re-using old narratives that refuse to include the latest facts and research (unless you’re under contract with the government like I used to be, and are prevented from looking at anything that reports about CIA involvement in regime change or South America, in which case I’m sorry. There is more to know than what’s on corp programming though, and, what we don’t know is a lot.

Now that Kate is confirmed dead can we get on with the original plot..

mikebcarguy 4 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

The Black Mask and Enigma believe the disfigured woman in that cell is Kate Kane. I’m with you, but the writers have chosen another direction. Kind of spits in the face of all the grieving some of us have done, at three different points in this season….fuuuuuk

Resident Alien (2021) S1 E1

Delightful

Family Guy (1999) S19 E15

Like to see an, “American Dad,” and “Drawn Together,” cross-over…with Lois, Francine & Hailey Smith, Foxxy Love and Princess Clara, “fund raising.”

WandaVision (2021) S1 E1
mikebcarguy 3 points 3 years ago.

I think she misses him SO much she brought him back to life…and, I don’t think this is just in her head.

I loved their love story. It was cut too short. When and how Vision died effected me as much as Kristen Ritter’s death in, “Breaking Bad,” (still not over either one).

Every kiss the couple share is a reprieve. Wanda is powerful…I just hope whatever tweaks to reality she makes continue to be guided by love!

Supernatural (2005) S15 Special
mikebcarguy 3 points 3 years ago.

Well, that’s three episodes to tie it all up…each from a different angle.

I definitely got caught in the cross-fire, and this has been very satisfying emotionally!

WandaVision (2021) S1 E4
mikebcarguy 3 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Fav quote: “What? I’m invested!”
I’ve shed a tear pretty often, and, just like the show’s “audience” I feel an, “Awww!” whenever they kiss.
I’m sure everyone here can admit (and, obv Wanda agrees): Wanda & Vision’s love story ended too soon! Frickin tragedy in the truest sense.

Ted Lasso (2020) S1 E10
mikebcarguy 3 points 3 years ago.

I’d rather watch Ted Lasso than any of the other shows which look better on paper to me (Science Fiction, Action, Thriller).

I haven’t watched the last episode yet…I keep putting it off…”because I don’t want the game to end.” I have browsed through, and watched the last ten minutes of the ninth episode four times now, to prepare for watching the tenth. That’s how badly I want to keep the experience from ending.

To whomever left the comment, “This just keeps getting better,” I thank you, for otherwise I never would’ve given it a shot!

Lovecraft Country (2020) S1 E3

This is such a good show…my favorite episode so far.

America's Hidden Stories (2019) S1 E1
mikebcarguy 3 points 3 years ago.

Disappointed they didn’t mention ergotism (theory published in Science magazine, 1976).
Also, it’s now understood that in medieval times, “witches,” were just People who liked to get high on hallucinogens…instead of ingesting them, which would lead to intestinal distress, they applied a homemade ointment onto a broomstick and, “rode,” it, or placed it under an armpit, so the concoction was absorbed. (This bit of history is not necessarily relevant to the ergot fungus infestation, or the Salem Witch Trials, but it is relevant to the Puritan’s mind-set at the time, as they knew many People in Europe had been executed after being accused of witchcraft — they were just to hillbilly to understand it was just straight People hating on Stoners).

Star Trek: Discovery (2017) S3 E3

I am feeling it, sorry to anyone who is not! When they convened beneath that tree I really expected to see a hologram of Boothby, the caretaker-slash-mentor of Picard!

That is the same place, isn’t it?

Star Trek: Discovery (2017) S3 E12

The emotional impact of that closing scene is greatly enhanced by having watched, “Ephraim & Dot,” which is a video short from the, “Short Treks,” series.

Top Secret Videos (2020) S1 E6

Because, “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” would be better with three actual comedians commentating….
I’ve been reminiscing about, “The Comedians of Comedy.” This thirty minute show’s given me my Brian Posehn fix…and, it included that hot Karen from, “Heroes.”
No, I’m not funny, that’s just my truth.

Superman & Lois (2021) S1 E7

The audio on some of these links sounds like the speaker’s underwater. I thought something was wrong with my computer…until I watched a different show.

EDIT: Link I just watched was good…, Very emotional ep for me, seeing Lana worried about her friend, seeing Lois reflecting on how much pain her child was in, and seeing, “the stranger,” flashing back on losing his wife and his daughter. But, I tend to get all weepy coupl’a days after I stop taking my stims, so, maybe attributing, “meaning,” where others do not is partly chemical, as my brain wants to generate dopamine. Weepy’s a little bit of an overstatement, it’s not like Meatloaf was in, “Fight Club,” haha.

Grimm (2011) S5 E4

Good use of music and story to build tension, reminiscent of, “Interstellar.” Fav quote Quin asking: “What’s wrong?” (That’s when I died).

Star Trek: Discovery (2017) S3 E10

Right after I stopped crying, well, the last time I cried, I realized the Doomcock army would not be so satisfied.
But, really, when has good Science Fiction NOT been about relationships? Sure they may not dwell, wallow, whatever, as much, but for a loss such as this loud noise is due. Do you respect the funeral with keening, or quiet bowed head?

South Park (1997) S24 Special

WandaVision (2021) S1 E1
mikebcarguy 2 points 3 years ago.

I urge People to think with their hearts and not their heads. Remember Wanda was grief stricken when Vision was killed. Remember her abilities hadn’t stopped developing. Now, remember the Wandavision commercials made it seem as though she’d brought him back from the dead, almost as if in an alternate universe…?
I won’t pretend to know comic book lore, I don;t know these characters’ comic book back-stories, BUT, I know Wanda & Vision’s story together was cut short, and one of those on-screen deaths I don’t think I’ve recovered from. I’m inclined to trust this show for quite a while longer…call me simple, but every on-screen kiss between the couple is an emotional pay-off for me and their were quite a few in this episode!

Also nice that Angua’s opening up about warming up to Carrot. Everybody’s gettin’ the feelys…Carcer conflicted by Alt-Sam. (What a kick to see Alt-Carcer as a nice guy!)

Hope that’s oblique enough to not be spoilers!

I used to be so Republican that when I first heard the Democrats were gonna nominate a black man my first response was, “They’re not even gonna try this time.” hahaha
Now I “self identify” as a Progressive (NOT a Liberal).
But, I knew about Comey’s trials and tribulations way back when it was happening, from the excellent investigative journalism they drew into their reporting on DemocracyNow (Not to say they were doing the work, but they were reporting on it).

Smells like, “24,” without any Jack Bauer.

Intergalactic (2021) S1 E8

I’d watch another season. Looking back I can see they spent good money on the CG artwork and effects only in certain episodes, but I wasn’t bothered by the lack there of during others. Story’s okay…acting a bit better than okay. It’s not, “Lovecraft Country,” but it’s better than, “Vagrant Queen,” (which I’ll also watch if there’s another season). Of course, “Vagrant Queen’s,” campy comedy mixed with drama, and this isn’t comedy.

Justified (2010) S6 E7

This is the best episode for a long time, from an emotional standpoint…I mean, sure, there’s been poetic dialog, but…emotional engagement? Perhaps that’s JUST subjective, but I think not…I believe it’s crafted!

With ALL of the interaction between Raylan and Winona, and the latter interaction between Eva and Boyd, this is a much more engaging episode than many before it. I was thinking, up until this episode, what a disservice it was watching these last several or, rather, dozen-or-so episodes, without really, “feeling it.” Well, I’m finally able to, once again, invest myself emotionally, and really engage, at that level. Makes all the difference in how much one can truly enjoy a TV show, don’t you think?

As a side note: This brings back memories…of how clueless I was, as a new parent…and, regrets, like how much I want it to do over again…’cuz I know I could do better! (Just talkin’ about the child care scene).

Lost in Space (2018) S2 E5
