The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder (2022)
Kid Kryptonite 2 points 2 years ago.

I’m not mad at this remake because I loved show as a kid and characters translate well for new age. There’s also certain topics and humor they’re more able to get away with now. The biggest thing is that because of this show they made that trash Proud Family Movie not canon to the series. In that movie she could drive and had to at least 16 as with here they made the characters look older while being 14. I will say they did do Sticky dirty and could’ve just replaced voice actor, but guess Disney wants all ties with Orlando Brown cut. Other than that, this actually will bring in new viewers to watch both old and new show as it did to a few of my younger family members.

Bel-Air (2022)
Kid Kryptonite 7 points 2 years ago.

I can actually appreciate that they made the sitcom into a drama because it makes so much sense. I kept quoting the theme song during entire first episode. I loved show as a kid and like how they interpreted the characters for new age, especially Geoffrey. It also helps Will Smith is involved with production so I’m down with this remake.

Peacemaker (2022) S1 E8
Kid Kryptonite 16 points 2 years ago.

James Gunn can save DC if he made this D-list villain show so good. I’m a comic nerd and even I never heard of Peacemaker until The Suicide Squad, but now he’s turned him into a fan favorite like he did Guardians of the Galaxy. The action was great and that cameo at the end was like a cherry on top of a perfect season. Totally didn’t expect them to do that.

Scream (2022)
Kid Kryptonite 5 points 2 years ago.

Well, it’s pretty much just another Scream movie for bad or good. Depends mainly on if you still like slashers or care about franchise anymore because it really doesn’t differentiate enough with each sequel. Truthfully, I found the motive real stupid this time. I do like how it’s self aware just enough to be a complete parody of the genre with many Scream movies or even other shows to come.

Injustice (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 5 points 2 years ago.

I’ve been waiting to see this and as usual it’s a good DC animated movie, but could’ve been better. I played the video game and felt they could’ve added more to the story since a lot was left out. Should’ve been made to multiple movies to flesh it out. The animation style also bothered me with the bold shadow marks giving characters weird black bars on knuckles. Final pet peeve was not liking the voice actor for Superman who sounded too young and not as intimidating when he turned. It was a fun watch overall and had great action scenes.

Chucky (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 10 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I’m all in after watching first episode, such a great blend of the old Child’s Play in the new age. I also love that they’re delving into Chucky’s past using all the original cast. I wonder if they’ll show Glen and Glenda. This story so far is really interesting with great new characters also, can’t wait to see what the big finale is.

Copshop (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 7 points 2 years ago.

Well this was the most original assassin flick I’ve seen in awhile. Lots of fun watching this with friends and brought back my like for Gerard Butler. Great actors all around that pulled off crazy story. Pulls you in from start and takes you on a ride which I loved sitting through.

Kate (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 7 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

This makes the 4th big budget female assassin movie that came out just this year. Gunpowder Milkshake, Black Widow, the Protege and now this. All have A-list actors with same revenge plot and protagonist having to deal with tragic past that led them to kill. The stereotypical tropes became painfully obvious seeing how they came out so close together. Having said that, I actually enjoyed this more than those I mentioned because of the setting, stylish cinematography and being a huge fan of Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Woody Harrelson. Very entertaining with great action, but nothing new.

Malignant (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 8 points 2 years ago.

Turned out to be better than expected. That twist really took me by surprise and stepped up the movie to another level. James Wan has shown he knows what he’s doing in horror with this unique killer.

Rick and Morty (2013) S5 E10
Kid Kryptonite 3 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Epic season finale that paid tons of fanservice. Wasn’t expecting so much to be revealed and I love how Rick always seems aware of the show writing. As always it ended with great character development and I felt that truth Mr. Poopybutthole was spitting. Now the long wait for season 6 begins.

Candyman (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 4 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

A worthy successor to the original Candyman and brings new life to his mythos. Jordan Peele has done it again reinventing black horror movies. I like how they used the mirror reflections throughout, but my only critique which would’ve took film over the top was showing more gore. Other than that this was a great story to bring back Candyman to the mainstream.

Death Rider in the House of Vampires (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 1 points 2 years ago.

I only ended up watching because in trailers I saw Danny Trejo and Eli Roth were also going to star, but do yourself a favor and skip this. I get it’s supposed to be an old western horror parody, but it comes off like a cheap retro porn. If they’re going to make movie intentionally this bad then they could’ve at least made it funny. Completely dry acting with terrible pacing throughout. I struggled watching entire movie and wouldn’t be surprised if anyone tapped out early in.

Habit (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 1 points 2 years ago.

Felt like this was trying too hard to be edgy and portray some deep meaning which was lost with terrible characters. Seeing how Bella Thorne not only starred but also directed and produced movie makes sense though.

The Protégé (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 8 points 2 years ago.

It’s your stereotypical girl assassin flick. Good actors with good action, but too generic with nothing new we haven’t seen. Reminds me of Atomic Blonde, Salt, Colombiana, Ava, etc… I just took this as a good sign that Michael Keaton has the moves to come back to play future Batman in the Flash movie.

Don't Breathe 2 (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 10 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

The whole movie was made to redeem Norman from the first film and they tried too hard. Not as good as original, but the violence was brutal and it’s cool to see him in action. They upped the stakes with the antagonists making them a military trained meth gang instead of young bumbling home invaders. It was a stretch since they came fully prepared not even knowing Norman’s background. Plus, it was too convenient how they just so happened to find this girl. The twist made this more unbelievable and not going to spoil it, but they could’ve found a better way to continue their drug business. You even see how the people involved think it’s wrong. I mean, he did kinda redeem himself, but at the end of the day there’s no taking back his sick turkey basting ways. If anything it showed he’s too obsessed with being a father.

Demonic (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 2 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I had high hopes and this movie just turned out to be disappointing. It’s not scary and almost had me falling asleep halfway through. The CGI looked cheap and they spoil what the demon looked like in beginning of film. The ending just seemed like it was rushing to finish the story and really made no sense. They wasted these hardcore tech priests which would’ve been way more interesting to focus on. A complete fail as far as sci-fi/horror movies go.

Free Guy (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 15 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

A fun watch and Ryan Reynolds has this perfect nice guy personality that makes anything he does funny. Major Deadpool energy here with a unique action comedy story. Only complaint is that some of the jokes didn’t land and even made me cringe, especially from the boss.

The Suicide Squad (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 15 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

So happy they released this early because I’ve been waiting for this sequel/reboot. They finally did Suicide Squad right and lived up to it’s name making it rated R. Had great chemistry between cast and surprisingly touching moments between all the action and humor. My favorites were King Shark and obviously Harley Quinn who Margot Robbie was born to play. DC needs to keep this same momentum going for future films.

Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 6 points 2 years ago*.

Been waiting for part 2 and didn’t disappoint. Gotta love seeing all of Batman’s rogues gallery in action. Used my own detective skills to deduce the mystery since it differed from comics. Another hit for DC animation and stay tuned for post credit scene.

Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 2 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Great action and animation with such a fun story. I actually watched all the different series of Trollhunters and felt this was a great sendoff until the very end. There was a million different ways Jake could’ve used time travel to save Toby instead of erasing all the adventures they’ve been through. Makes all the stuff fans watched kinda pointless. It was actually really selfish since there’s no way he could know giving away ever getting powers would be for the better with future threats still waiting. If it wasn’t for that dumb ending this would’ve been perfect finale.

Old (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 8 points 2 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

Such a good premise and yet M. Night spoils the twist very early in the movie. We know the reason why these people were at beach and just have to watch as they devolve for an hour and a half later. It does have some gnarly scenes and I like the message it gives with the family at end. It was an interesting watch, but needed to hold cards closer to the chest next time for a better surprise.

Snake Eyes (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 5 points 2 years ago.

Just okay, not a G.I. Joe fan so didn’t go into this with high expectations. Can’t compare it to other movies of franchise being a spinoff and this focusing mainly on martial arts. On that scale the fighting was weak and have seen way better. Plus, Snake Eyes doesn’t come off in best light even over rival who you actually feel sorry for. It’s a decent action flick to pass time though.

Jolt (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 4 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I thought for a moment this would be a female version of Crank and happily surprised. A good action flick, but as much as I love watching Kate kickass there were several moments when she would’ve/should’ve been killed.

Masters of the Universe: Revelation (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 10 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I loved the animation, voice actors and story, but what killed this show was Kevin Smith and his horrible promotion of it. He lied about what it was about and loving show as a kid, going off on a rant and getting caught being dishonest. If they were upfront from start and Kevin Smith played a Silent Bob and kept quiet about early reviews it would’ve been better. You can see on rotten tomatoes that while critics love show the actual fans didn’t. It’s the go woke go broke with taking a series called He-Man and focusing it about the women with him barely there. They didn’t treat main character as he should and pissed off old fans. I’m not big on Masters of the Universe, so I can see both sides not caring too much about controversy. If you’re not a huge fan you will definitely enjoy.

The Flash (2014) S7 E18
Kid Kryptonite 6 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

There’s so many speedsters running around now that its become ridiculous, the only one missing was Kid Flash. It’s a shame because I would’ve loved to see his interaction with Impulse being his actual uncle unlike “Uncle” Jay. Though technically in comics Wally is a cousin and both XS and Impulse are Flash’s grandkids. They are a good replacement for their actual kids the Tornado Twins Don and Dawn. You’d think all the running action scenes would get tiring and then they surprise us with new lightning weapon abilities. Good season finale overall.

Gunpowder Milkshake (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 5 points 2 years ago.

I love a good shoot em up film with great cast!!

Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 1 points 2 years ago*.

Warner Bros. went all out with this and it paid off. My whole family loved movie after watching first Space Jam. Grab some popcorn and enjoy.

Loki (2021) S1 E6
Kid Kryptonite 7 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

And there we have Kang the Conquerer like we predicted. Wonderful job Jonathan Majors portrayed this variant like we’ll see in the next Ant-Man film. I just love how all these MCU stuff combines.

Escape Room: Tournament of Champions (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 6 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I liked the first better because it made more sense how they got the contestants together. Unless they have some psychic powers there’s no way they could gather all past champions on their own free will on that exact train car in NYC. There’s so many things that could’ve gone wrong like them not chasing thief or getting caught up in all the people seconds before getting there. Also, how did they divide any innocent people from going in?? I also hated how stupid the main characters were with how they attempted to fight back in general. I just had to point out that illogical flaw because brain is running. I do like how they called back to the ending of first, but this whole organization to create death panic rooms is stupid and too convoluted. Fun to watch, but seriously unrealistic which throws me off.

Fear Street: Part Two - 1978 (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 5 points 2 years ago.

Great homage to those old camp slashers and I enjoyed this better than first. Huge fan of the 70s so that gave this extra points. Really enjoyed the actors, especially Ziggy’s character who I know from Stranger Things. She’s becoming a real scream queen and can’t wait to see her in other stuff.

Knifecorp (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 3 points 2 years ago*.

I watched this mainly for Kane Hodder who is known for playing Jason Vorhees. Very original horror comedy that kept me cringing and on edge of seat. The chaos was surprisingly fun to watch.

The Forever Purge (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 8 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

This has got to be my least favorite Purge because it lays its agenda down so thick exploiting America’s current social and political climate. The blatant racism throughout was exhausting to watch because we’ve already seen or been through enough of it. I did like that they changed the setting of Purge to Texas and that they flipped the script from trying to keep people from coming to US at border to fleeing from US at border. I also understand how they’re trying to expand this franchise, but honestly I’m Purged out of these movies. They even had a tv show and there’s really nothing but senseless madness to this story now that I’m not interested.

Vicious Fun (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 4 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

This was vicious fun to watch indeed. I remember seeing a similar movie except it focused around a self help group of assassins which are kinda the same as serial killers. I enjoyed the whole cast of characters and seeing the violent melee going on. One of the best horror comedies I’ve seen this year, highly recommend checking it out.

Too Late (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 2 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I thought it was an original horror comedy that actually focused around real comedians. I like how they took the time to show some of the comics standup. The evil boss was unique in that he was sort of a combination of different classic movie monsters so you don’t know exactly what he is. Don’t go into this expecting much gore or scares though. It’s a little low budget but does very well with the story and cast.

Luca (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 7 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Really enjoyed the colorful animation and characters. It’s just a fun nice coming of age story around sea monsters. I will admit it’s not that original having a literal fish out of water theme making the moral of the story not as deep as other Pixar films. I’d still choose to watch this over a good amount of their other ones and while it didn’t pull my heartstrings it did leave me smiling at end.

Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 3 points 2 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

I’m happy to see this comic story finally adapted on screen. I know fans have been ranting for Jensen Ackles to play Batman in the Arrowverse, but we all know it’s mainly because of deep voice which fits here. I like this new animation style DC is doing with the dark outlines of characters like they did with Superman: Man of Tomorrow and Justice Society: World War II. Can’t wait for part 2!!

America: The Motion Picture (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 2 points 2 years ago.

This gave me a major Venture Bros vibe and if you like that show you should like this movie. It was fun seeing how they reinvented the Civil War turning these famous historic figures into crazy characters. The only thing negative I’ll say is that I’ve never liked Changing Tatum as an actor and he’s even annoying voice acting.

Till Death (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 3 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

First movie I’ve ever seen Megan Fox do well in a serious role. A very original plot with a lot of tension throughout. It’s really sick how obsessed her husband was to not lose wife and set up this cat and mouse game, but I can understand with Megan Fox.

Fear Street: Part One - 1994 (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 4 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I remember the Fear Street books and TV show that came out and they definitely went a more mature route with this. I’m a 90s baby and love the soundtrack, but they laid it on so thick in scenes that it took away from story. Even so, it was a lot of fun watching all the kills and it was a great homage to old school slashers. I’m curious how they wrap up this story seeing how they’re going to be focusing on past events with next 2 movies.

Let Us In (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 2 points 2 years ago.

It’s low budget and gives a Goosebumps vibe with it being more for younger audiences. The ending seemed rushed and not well thought out, but the story was interesting. Tobin Bell is the only reason I watched.

Werewolves Within (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 6 points 2 years ago.

I love a good whodunit and the story kept me guessing on the big mystery reveal. The leads are very likable and balanced out the crazy townspeople. Didn’t know the AT&T girl was this hot. It was a fun ride watching.

Untitled Horror Movie (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 1 points 2 years ago*.

Disappointed, it’s not funny or scary enough for a comedy horror. It’s a shame because I like these actors having seen them on other shows and movies. I get it was quarantine so they decided to do this Zoom style, but it made me quickly become uninterested. It’s still well acted and the story was good for what they had to work with.

Adventure Time: Distant Lands (2020) S1 E3
Kid Kryptonite 2 points 2 years ago.

This gave me the feels at end. I was not expecting this Finn and Jake story to go as deep as it did. Seeing all these old characters again was great along with the animation of the different worlds. Not going to spoil it but damn the theme really showed they’re best bros for life.

Army of the Dead (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 8 points 2 years ago*.

Is it wrong to say this is my favorite zombie movie right now because it is? Zach Snyder knows how to make movies with the right people.

Benny Loves You (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 4 points 3 years ago.

Had so much fun watching this, revives the whole possessed toy theme. Benny was great and the story was silly but plays on it to add to comedy.

Boys from County Hell (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 2 points 3 years ago.

I haven’t seen a good UK horror comedy in awhile and this was a unique take on the Vampire lore. Good laughs and story, highly recommend.

Jupiter's Legacy (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 10 points 3 years ago*.

Just finished watching whole season and it was good but pales in comparison to the many other superhero shows out. We’ve seen the whole superhero family dynamic before with similar characters of same powers. I really liked the action scenes and that it adds to comic with story opening up this Millarworld. A great watch for those who love this genre but nothing amazing we haven’t seen.

Invincible (2021) S1 E8
Kid Kryptonite 12 points 3 years ago.

As a person who started reading the comics over 15 years ago, this was epic and the show did everything to make the story more relatable and graphic than the actual books. From the voice actors to the animation they went all out showing the strains of each characters personalities and enhancing it. If only you guys knew what is up for the coming seasons. I can’t wait to see Mark’s adventures through this!! I’m really geeked out because of how well they portrayed this series, so thanks to all involved for doing Invincible justice.

Justice Society: World War II (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 7 points 3 years ago.

Another great DC animation starring Flash. Shows just how he’s important to the DC universe with his power. I only wish they showed more JSA members but it explained why they didn’t. Just good action and storytelling so you won’t be disappointed.

Mortal Kombat (2021)
Kid Kryptonite 7 points 3 years ago.

It’s rare when Hollywood makes a decent video game movie and this didn’t disappoint. I knew from the trailers that they were trying to do a faithful adaption. The costumes and fighting were on point, much better than the last Mortal Kombat movies.
